Yes, correct - my brain hasn't got out of 2nd gear today!
I think your sailing barges have a gaff rigged mainsail whilst ours have a spritsail.
This iron hulled twin masted Dutch Klipper Barge Maaike Maria built in Rotterdam in 1888 is owned by the place I did my RYA sailing certificates. She's a big old thing! Sadly I think she just stays in the dock as an office and training centre rather than taking to the open water any more. |
