Travels and fun in Alaska

Long time lurker, first time poster. This is a trip I do with friends each year in the Summer, offroading up a mountain in Alaska with my friends who're Jeep folks. I'm in a Toyota Tacoma, but they're okay with me hanging around for fun shenanigans. This was from earlier this year.

What place in Alaska is this? It's so beautiful. When you go on 4x4 trips like this, do you camp or stay at motels or something similar? In Alaska is it fine to camp anywhere or are there places you must avoid or campgrounds you must use?

Karanddd, this is Haines, in Southeast Alaska. We stay in cabins, but lots of folks do camp outside. Pretty much any state land is open for camping unless specifically off limits with signs. And there are also ample campgrounds with facilities for campers.
