| Jungle, Safari, Offroading, Waterfalls and Bonfire: Yes, it is Similipal National Park Since Durga Puja we have been planning for a road trip however, due to several unavoidable reasons it was not getting materialized. Consequently, by mid of November we were so desperate to make a road trip happen. Being stationed in Jamshedpur, the first name which came to my mind was Simlipal National Park. I and my wife started a bit of research on Simlipal and Bangriposi and once again Team BHP travelogues turned out to be the most informative about Simlipal. In this context I would like to thank BHPian BlackPearl and BHPian Samba for their phenomenal travelogues on Simlipal and Bangriposi. So we finally fixed the date and chalked out an itinerary. Team: My parents, cousin sister, my wife and myself Itinerary: 11th December- Jamshedpur > Similipal resort and restaurant at Bangriposi (127kms) Resort > Brhaman Kund and back (60 kms) Resort > Sulaipat Dam and back (70 kms) 12th December- Resort > Jashipur Forest Office (63 kms) Jashipur Forest Office > Ramtirtha > Simlipal National Park > Jashipur Market (146 kms) Back to Resort (60 kms) 13th December- Resort > Burudi Dam Ghatshila > Jamshedpur (147 kms) Routes: i) Jamshedpur-Hata-Rairangpur(NH220)-Bisoi(SH50)-Bangrposi (NH49) [119 kms] ii) Jamshedpur-Baharagora(NH18)-Bangriposi(NH49)[127 kms] I decided to take the second option owing to better road conditions and less traffic. Statutory warning: Before you start going this travelogue through, let me tell you this will be pretty long! 11/12/2020 On the previous day the tyre pressure was checked and diesel was filled to the full capacity of the fuel tank. We started from our apartment by 7 am in the morning. Being a winter morning road was empty. We enjoyed the morning drive with good music but faced moderate fog in NH18. Breakfast stop before Galudih  Our lovely partner "The silver beauty"  When we were having breakfast that dog came suddenly and joined us. We were so happy to feed it. Glad lad posing with sheer happiness and filled stomach  Infusing warmth from morning sun while cruising through NH18  Bio break at Dhalbhumgarh BP  Cockpit View  NH18 jungle stretch  Ecstatic Subarnarekha from Jamsola Bridge  Venue taking rest after reaching to Venue  The entry of the Resort  View of Resort from NH49  Venue from the balcony of the resort  Our room  Lunch with fish thali; damn hungry were we!  Having sumptuous lunch at Resort restaurant we started for Brahman Kund. The Resort owner Mr. Sandeep showed us the road with his bike upto Bangriposi Rail Station The historic Burhabalang river   Photoshoot on the way to Brahman Kund   The road towards Brahman Kund was too interesting. The narrow paved road was through the dense forest while the terrain was hilly Beautiful and unexplored Brahman Kund We  Hide and Seek  Another view of Brahman Kund  Main attraction of that place  Busy in feeding fishes  The front view  Sun rays on Brahman Kund  While moving towards Sulaipat dam we crossed few tribal villages. Intial 25 kms was NH 49 and after that murram soil road for a kilometer. The final few kilometers were narrow bitumen paved road and that road goes all the way through the bank of the dam reservoir. The sunset view was magical  Glowing LTD  Posing with happy smile  Gradual setting of sun behind the dark mountains    We stopped on the highway to capture that colourful sky: Venue with a background of shades of red!  Duarsini Mata Temple in the GHAT section. We loved the light decoration and spent love time over there  12/12/2020 We were so exited to touch the famous SIMLIPAL. Having packed our breakfast from the Resort we started our journey to Jashipur at 6.45am. We had to reach the Forest office for entry permit before 9 am. Keeping that in mind, I drove a bit faster and we contacted our guide on the way. Since guide is mandatory to enter Simlipal it is utmost important to get a good human being as guide. Please remember guide is the only person in the jungle eho can either spoil the trip or can make it memorable. I got a contact beforehand and that person turned out to be so pleasant and polite with substantial knowledge about Simlipal. Guide's contact details has been given in the end. Initially we were skeptical in going there nonetheless, soon after reaching there we realized that the place is really unique and worth-visiting That famous Astral Garden at Ramtirtha. This board shows you plants which would benefit you based on your Astrological Sign!  Ramtirtha Eco-complex  Statue of tiger  Crocodiles, enjoying morning sun!  On the bank of Bhandan river at Ramtirtha  It is said that God RAMA sat on this stone while his visit to this place that’s when a permanent impression was created on this rockmass  Magnificient River Bhandan   Hide and seek in the woods  The morram road going towards the core forest  The entry check post Amidst Jungle  First point of attraction; that gigantic tree   Valley in the middle of the jungle  Dad enjoying the view and pure air  The road director, we moved towards Gurguria keeping way towards Kumari on the left  River Khairi; as pretty as a picture!  |

Jungle path towards Orchid garden  This is a surprising food court run by tribal ladies from Kumari Village. They sell tempting organic foods and snacks. Their dresses were so beautiful  Uski falls   Barehipani is on the other side of the valley  That canteen at Barehipani. Veg meal is delivered here and we need to buy tickets for each meal while obtaining permit at forest office either in Jashipur or Pithabata  Barehipani Eco-complex  The Mighty Barehipani Falls  Jungle roads towards Joranda Falls    The most picturesque Joranda Falls  Headlights dominating early darkness of jungle; moving towards Chahala  After exiting Simlipal we reached Jashipur Market to drop our guide by 7:10 pm and then press the gas paddle hard. It was enthralling to drive through the ghat section just before Bangriposi. We reached hotel by 8:35 pm. Bonfire and tandoor was waiting for us   13/12/2020 Venue with familiar red dust  It’s time to bid adieu  Tea break at Baharagora  At Burudih Dam the popular Ganesh Hotel where you can get the best possible country chicken    Burudih Dam reservoir   We four  Reached our apartment by 5 pm. Everyone was so happy and we realized that we would visit again the magnificient Simlipal! Points to ponder 1) We carried ample quantity of liquid soap, hand sanitizer and surface disinfectant 2) Our guide used the surface disinfectant throughout his jacket and trouser before entering into the car 3) Though most of the crowd prefer to enter through Pithabata and exit through Jashipur however, as per our guide, it is better to enter and exit through jashipur gate. Most of the cars coming via Pithabata could not manage time to visit Uski and Gurguria, which can be done easily if you enter through Jashipur. 4) Better to carry a bright torch light to watch animals in the evening 5) Among all the roads in the jungle road towards Uski is most difficult so one should be careful to avoid scrapping the bottom of the car 6) Guide in Pithabata: Mr. Ghanashyam Mohanta- 9439664792 7) Guide in jashipur: Mr. Neehar Mohanta- 8260596910 Many thanks for reading! |
