re: S-Cross'd : Bhoramdeo Temple, the Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh Having taken a peek into Bhoramdeo and history, and the fact that it was only 10:00 in the morning, made me to make more plans before we stop for the day. Kawardha was some 15Kms from here and I have heard of a palace there. But I also have heard that the palace was converted to a hotel. So we drove to that palace, idea was to see the palace and if place was reasonable have a stay over and enjoy some royal treatment. Somewhere near Amraudi, some 10Kms from BhoramDeo and 5Kms before Kawardha. No wonder Chattisgarh is called the rice bowl of Central India. 77% of its sown area is paddy!
According to an earlier sensus, population of this village is less than 500, we added another 4 for the time being We stopped by to enjoy some moments
Once we reached Kawardha, I inquired with the locals about the palace and they told me it's mostly private these days and I wouldn't want to push my idea. I anyways wanted to check for myself and drove till the place, it looked like the info was true. There were many luxurious sedans parked inside with a lot of activities buzzing there, mostly looked like some political get together for the upcoming elections. Did not waste any time in getting down and inquiring, I moved on. For the record its a small building, and calling it a palace will be belittling the other good ones in the country.
So now I have a challenge, where to go for the night. Both Bhilai and RajNandagaon are just 125 Kms from Kawardha, and it was only 10:00. RajNandagaon means me and Sr.PPG will be super happy, since just a month back we were there and we were completely floored by the hotel we stayed in. Hotel Raj Imperial, good food and good rooms, and decent rates. So my mind said RajNandagaon.
But we will be there by noon, we can have a relaxed lunch and then what? Should I push further? Well Chitrakote falls, Niagra of India was just 450Kms away you know, and it was only 10:00 in the morning Well that's for another log?
