Re: Automatically Leh'd in a Scorpio S10 AT

Beautiful Pictures purohitanuj. I went to Leh around the same time, unfortunately have not been able to find time for a travelogue.
We reached Pangong Tso on the 16th September, 2015. It snowed at that time too but nothing like in your pictures. Perfectly sums up how rapidly weather conditions change in that region.
Attaching a picture from Pangong from my trip.

I can understand the time constraints! My trip was planned and executed in a month; while the write-up took ~7 months!
True that the weather around Leh changes very rapidly.

Hello Purohit Anuj. I was wondering how did you manage to make a trip before the passes opening. Then saw that the trip was made last year in September. Nice pictures there. I am sure Night Fury would have given you effortless drive. But why no full pictures of the car ? Keep Writing.

PS : That looks like Jalandhar Haveli & not Ambala.

Regards,

Pawan

Re: Automatically Leh'd in a Scorpio S10 AT

Fantastic trip!
I wish you had posted few pics of the SUV also :-)

I am curious to know the FE of the new Scorpio AT in city.

I had a 2012 Scorpio AT which had the same engine and GB as the new Scorpio if I am not wrong. My Scorpio GB/Engine combo was lethargic. SUV never used to gather speed fast. Good starting off the block, but slow in the mid range and on Highways. Is the case same with the new Scorpio?

Hi Anand,
The FE in city is fine if driven sedately. I get around 10-11 Km/Lit (tank to tank method).
I have older version of Scorpio AT and there is no issue with low,mid or high range.
Note that I have changed my driving style to get the best out of AT by triggering torque converter lock.
I can now lock the TC in any gear and at almost all RPMs; and once locked, I press just enough accelerator to maintain the lock(any more and the lock breaks followed by a down-shift) and get the maximum acceleration.

I got the following indicating average during Manali to Delhi(around 15 using tank full method):

The new Scorpio AT still uses the the old DSI Gearbox, and not the Aisin gearbox which is being used only in the XUV 500 as of now. If anyone has any leads as to when the Aisin unit is going to be offered in the Scorpio AT as well, do let us know.

Hello Anuj, great pics. Couldn't catch anywhere if your vehicle is AT 4X2 or 4X4 ?
Also, did the differential touch ground anywhere? Specially @ Zojila?

The AISIN AT gearbox will come out in the Scorpio only after 18 months. I just could not wait that long and went in for the DSI AT gearbox S10 which is awesome too.

This one is is 4X2. No, the differential (handi) did not touch anywhere. Rohtang was much harder than Zozilla.

Thanks for the videos.

Do you think this route is manageable without four wheel drive?

Of course. Mine is 2WD and I did not feel the need of 4WD anywhere.
