Thanks a lot. Yes you are correct, the chaos has its own charm. Many people leave for holiday destinations during the Durga puja just to avoid the chaos. But i stay just to enjoy it! The madness among people awake all over the night feels you connected to the crowd.

Nope both are different. This one is at the starting of the Burdwan - Bolpur road through Bhedia.

For Kalna you can go there by Assam road from Mogra.

What is the name of that village ? had same experience 4 years back. Though we managed to get away free but after heated arguments, few calls, intervention of local administration etc.
I have covered few places in around Jangalmahal and atmosphere was not confidence inspiring at all.

This isn't Rahul Roy, but a different Roy, also from the same neighborhood as Rahul.

I don't know the village name because I wasn't driving, but in a rented vehicle. It was on the main highway itself though, mcuh before you hit the beach track to get to the hotels. I didn't have any local contacts, so had to pay up.

I completely agree with you on your last sentence.

As I mentioned earlier, it is an oxbow lake.
The water is magically transparent thus allowing many plants to grow underwater which is a treat for the eyes. This place is crowded by many local and migratory birds-truly a birder's paradise!
Travel Guide: A morning drive. Very near to the famous Nabadweep. Boats are easily available for safari of the lake. If you opt for the full safari, it will take 5-6 hours.

I think it was in 2009 or 2010 when I was opportune enough (as I had some time to spare while on a business tour) to visit The Place where the Famous Battle of Plassey took place. Yes you are correct......it is "Plassey" .

An unhyped tourist place because frankly it has nothing much to offer; but yes it is and always will be a very important part of Indian Independence in the History of India

Taking the opportunity to enlighten everyone to one of the most visited spot in West Bengal which is flooded by millions of pilgrims & tourist every year; where the surroundings are filled with the chants of :

Hare Ram, Hare Ram, Ram Ram Hare Hare"

Mayapur - The birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who is regarded as the special incarnation of Lord Krishna where the ISKON Temple is situated. Situated on the Banks of the Ganges River, making the holy place even more pure.

Distance : A Single way 130Kms Drive on NH-34

Accommodation : Though it is a very doable Day Trip, some people would prefer to stay around Mayapur. Excellent Accommodation available at Krishnanagar - Hotel Haveli & Astha Hotel on Palpara More, NH-34

Must Do : The Boat Ride from Mayapur to Nabadwip Ghat

Must Eat :
1.) Leave early & reach early if you want to enjoy the Prasadam at the Iskon. You have to take the Prasadam Tickets early and queue up for the same. However, the food is not that great but the experience is overwhelming where you are sitting on the floor and served with your lunch on a banana leaf. A paid 'Langar' you may say

2.) If you manage to sneak into Nabadwip, try the Misti Doi there !! It's the best in the State - Literally Brownish Red in Colour

3.) On your way back grab a meal at Pantha Tirtha Level Crossing at Krishnanagar with some Sor Bhaja & Sor Puria to sweeten the memories of your visit.

Do not miss to take a Boat Ride to the Deer Park in Mukutmanipur. Nothing fancy but the boat ride in the calm waters is very scenic. Also, if you are travelling with kids, they'll get an opportunity to feed the Deer at the park. Posting some Pictures :
