Re: Photologue: The Lakes of Bangalore Great thread and somehow I had missed this earlier!
It is very unfortunate that urbanization and IT boom has make Bangalore a concrete jungle and dying/stinking/disappearing lakes!
Good to see that citizens have taken up cleaning/up keeping of lakes and maintaining it as bio diversity spot rather than purely recreational place! One such lake is definitely Kaikondanahalli Lake! Kudos to the initiatives, today it is one of the very active birding spot. I only hope that BBMP do not start boating in this place.
Recently I participated with some likeminded bngbirds folks on a water bird census and covered close to 12+ lakes around Kanakapura & Sarjapura road! While it was good to see copious rain filling the lakes/tanks, it was also disheartening to see the gross negligence of both citizens & civic bodies for the precious water bodies that are left!
Unless we bring back those lakes and interconnecting canals back, Bangalore will die its natural death may be in a decade if not earlier!
