Thanks for the report it helped me add another item to my bucket list!
Thanks for the kind words miharbe.

If you do try to scoop out one full day at-least, as you'l take 2-3 hrz to complete both BMW & RR Museums , 3 hrz for the plant visit & atleast 1.5 hrz at the WELT.

The Z4 LCI is already here since a long time. Saw the yellow one on 1st October at NCPA Apts, Nariman Point.

And at this time I'm staring at the 5 LCI.

Re: Pics & Report: BMW Welt, Museum & Munich Plant

Hey Karan! Nice to see you visiting the birth place of your car. And then knowing all the heritage makes you feel so special! You seem to have thoroughly enjoyed your visit.

Last year when I visited the BMW Welt, I dont remember seeing the Rolls Royce Museum. If it was inside the "double inverted cone" then its a new display area, because back then there was some renovation work there although the 6er GC was on display there.

Also, I did not know about your travel and sorry for not sharing my experience. I had rented an M3 from BMW on demand. I paid 120 Euro for 5 Hrs as it was already booked for the rest of the day.

The biggest thing with M3 is that you have to book it 1 full month in advance! In-fact its more like our Tatkal booking. Lets say you want to book an M3 for 20 December. The bookings open 1 month in advance. So what you do is, you log on to the "BMW on Demand" website at 0.00 Hrs on 20 Nov (in the midnight) and quickly book it for 20 Dec. Only then you have a possibility for getting it for a full day! Also the Welt guys need 2 Hrs for routine checkup and cleaning. So if some one has booked the car form 9 am to 12 pm, the system blocks the car from 7 am to 2 pm. In that case you are left for being able to rent it only form 2pm to 6pm (4 hrs only) at the price for 3 Hrs.

Basically its a lot of effort for M3. Other cars are available much more readily and some cars like X5M or others are not sold out at all. But still M3 experience is worth all the pain! I first booked the M3 and then planned my holidays accordingly!

As I say,
You can't book an M3, you have to earn it!

This 3 Series Car is special for me as my Dad was in the official BMW Rally Team for the Himalayan Rally in 1984 using a similar model.

Re: Pics & Report: BMW Welt, Museum & Munich Plant

Great report Karan. After seeing your travelogue, I regret missing the BMW Welt and BMW Museum. About 3-4 years back,I and my friends had been to Munich from Stuttgart for a 1-day trip. We visited most of the tourist attractions in Munich except the BMW Welt and Museum. Wish we had visited it that day.

I remember seeing the BMW Stadium from "Oylmpic Stadia" and I believe it is at a walkable distance from the Olympic Stadia.

Re: Random pics - a glimpse of Auto history

Whenever I click pics of interesting automobiles, I think of sharing them here, but one of the things I am very good at is procrastinating! Some of these pics are as old as 4 years.

Here are a few Bimmers...

I was amazed to see an old couple who travelled all the way from UK to Germany in this Austin Seven. Looked like the couple and the car are in fierce competition with each other in defying their age!
It's my car next to it.

Thats all for now! :-)
