Kumarakom

We started our journey back

The lake was very wide

We saw a lot of house boats!

Pathiramanal Island in view

It was overcast

The Oberoi Luxury boat

By 14:00 hours we reached back the place where we started.

We had food at one Vaidyar Hotel, pretty much well known in that area. they fed us with almost all varieties of fish. After a heavy meal we went back to the boat for the ride to Pathiramanal Island.

We reached Pathiramanal Island by 15:00 hours

Pathiramanal Island

We were the only ones there

We walked along the path

We stopped by to enjoy the beauty

Jr. PPG showed here dancing skills

We continued to walk along the path

We walked into a narrow path

Only to be scared by this fellow!

We watched the lake from some vantage points

There was a small building

We continued to walk around the island

The paved path ended into this narrow trail

We walked on

We reached an open area

Only to get into another narrow path

We reached the main path finally

Back to the paths

We had enough!

Some distances from the island

It was very hot and humid and the walk tired us down a lot. We decided to get back to the shore. But we immensely enjoyed the privacy that we got in the island. How many times in you liofe can you claim an island all for yourself

We are back, you can see the island and the boat behind us

I enjoyed cycling after a long while!

By 17:30 we said bye to the boat guy and drove towards our resort. i was extremely happy with this boat guy and will recommend him. He did not even impose any thing on us, and took us wherever we asked him to take us.

His name is Kuttachan, and I'll update his contact details once I complete the log.

We stopped by at Thanneermukkom bund

We enjoyed some ice creams

Our favourite Green Apple Stick!

PPGs had a Mango Stick too

Meanwhile I tried to hijack the cart

We saw a sugar can juice vendor

We had our refreshing sugarcane juice too

We got us some sugar cane too

Meanwhile Civvy was watching all the fun

We decided to move on

Only to stop soon to enter the cool waters of the lake

I was still trying my strength with the sugar cane

It was refreshing to wash yourself with the cold water, but it was salty, too salty

By 18:30 hours we started back to our resort.

We reached our cottage back by 19:30 hours

After a refreshing shower and some fresh juices we called it a day. We were totally tired and drained.

Lalusir - Saw you were driving near Kayippuram too. Just thought of informing you missed a very virgin Toddy shop there. Absolutely free from make-over and commercialization. Its about 10KMs inside from main road and in the banks of Vembanad.

Good to know you visited vaidyan chettan's eat out, river and sea food served at its best. No colors or taste makers. This is one place, most Kerala cini artists order their lunch while shooting near Kumarakom - Allepey area.

Superb photos, especially the coconut trees along the vembanad lake.

Where exactly is this Vaidyar hotel? Is this the one at the Junction,where the road from the Pathiramanal jetty road meets with the main Muhamma road?

Hi Laluks, yet another superb travelogue from you with some mind blowing pictures.

Its always a great pleasure reading your travelogues and this is no exception.
I just want to know one thing how did you find the road condition at Kerala now? When i last visited Munnar, Alleppy, Cochin in 2011 roads were full of diversion's and the bus drivers used to drive like maniacs.

After Coimbatoor roads were not that safe to drive at night so had to be very cautious.

Yes, that is the place. The hotel is right at the junction. They also have a few benches kept in the car porch of a house too, which acts a family customer area.

The roads I used were very pretty much in their best conditions. I drove in via Kumily, Kottayam route completely avoiding NH47. On return I drove out via Munnar. Munnar had some bad patches, but was ok mostly.

Bus drivers are still the same, add to it now many two and three wheelers.

I woke up quite early today. I wanted to visit the Bird sanctuary. By 06:00AM I was out of the resort.

I found this guy in the field nearby

The narrow road from the resort

I reached the bird sanctuary

I parked Civvy

There was a boating counter here

There was a butterfly garden here too

But I walked on

I reached a gate

There was a KTDC Beer Parlour there, anyways not so early in the morning

I continued on to the Bird Sanctuary

I reached the watch tower

All I could see from the top was this

I started my return journey

Interesting, how these trees hug each other

Civvy was patiently waiting for me all this while

I would have walked at least 5KM in total in the sanctuary. The humid weather and the sweat made me want to jump into the lake for a swim, but decided not to

. By 08:00AM I was out of the sanctuary.

I was in Aymanam panchayat

And have left Kottayam, West limits

Enjoyed the canal from a nearby bridge

A nice house, wish it was mine

Stopped by for some tender coconut

I was attracted by this construction

That fellow was still there on the field

A wild flower

I reached the resort back by 09:00AM, and after breakfast enjoyed a long time in the pool with PPGs

By 13:00 we went for lunch to our family parlour

I was happy with my fish curry meals

That was our adda for this trip

The chief cook Lijo personally took care of our order and made it to our liking. I will definitely get back some day here for this wonderful spread and options!!

After a long lunch we were ready to roll by 14:30 hours.
