Re: Trivandrum - Kodaikanal : A Motorcycle Trip

Good one DudeWithaFiat! Reminds me that I gotta plan a trip sometime this year atleast! Used to study at Srivi and used to ride to & frm every other week. The roads were great from that era ( 10 plus years back). We are yet to see such roads in Kerala.

Loved the bullet's pic.

Re: Trivandrum - Kodaikanal : A Motorcycle Trip

Thanks Dude for the inspiring review. I am planning to take the same route in April, but on four wheels. This is better than the Nagercoil - Madurai one right?

Re: Trivandrum - Kodaikanal : A Motorcycle Trip

Dear DudeWithaFiat - good travelogue there, thanks. This reminds me of the trip that wifey and I made in November 1999, driving a Premier Padmini all the way from Mumbai to Calicut via Goa and Mangalore (Mumbai to Mangalore, 1000 kms in one day, on 09 November 1989), then going from Calicut to Coimbatore, then on to Kodaikanal and back to Calicut via Coimbatore, leaving the car in Calicut and flying back to Mumbai. We stayed at Kodaikanal at a very cute hotel having only 4 rooms, the memories of the Kodai lake and the rose garden next to it come flooding back! Thanks.

Best regards,

Behram Dhabhar

Quite an exhaustive road trip mate, the photos adding to the tone of a wonderful description of your travel. Appears that you folks enjoyed the road trip.
So the journey was something like this? Batalagundu - Uslampetti - Rajapalayam - Thenkasi - Thenmala
Would these route be through the ghats/twisties?

Very well depicted travelogue, loved reading every bit of it, nice pictures to go with the narration, thanks for sharing. Brings back the memories of the bike trips that I used to do way back in the 90's on my trusty steed the Yamaha RX 100 which I still possess !

That is a wonderful travelogue to a wonderful destination Kodai!
Me and my friends had been there from Mysore in december '12 on our bikes too. Total trip was 86 0km including local sightseeing.
Here are some pics. The one in the blue p220 is me. This is our longest single trip yet.

I haven't travelled the Nagercoil - Madurai route, so I am not sure which one is better mate. Sorry about that. Have you checked with HVKumar, I'm sure he can help you figure out the route.

Thanks mate. Yes, we did enjoy the trip and another one (most probably TVM to Ooty) is in the pipeline. A little of ghats and twisties around Thenmala. Its plain roads after that and the next set of twisties start from about 20kms before reaching Kodai. That last stretch is a 100% 'twisty' stretch

Thanks Kannan. Good to hear you still have the RX100. I have my old Pulsar that I have decided to keep in my possession for as long as I live.

She is adorable mate. Sweet S1.
What's the shade officially called?

A suggestion: Please get rid of that Omni orvms.
