As I understand the after you turn towards Magod from the highway, the road after some time becomes really patchy.

Yes, just after a km or so, road became so patchy, and patholes filled. Just 2-3 kms to the road, there is a temple on the right side. Am not sure which water fall is, though.

.
Must be Sathodi Falls , It is the only falls I have encoutnered where half distance is road rest is a trail , The temple happens to be the point beyond which the road ends and the stone/pebble trail start.

Re: My road journey - Bangalore-Goa-Delhi

Hi ,

I am planing to do a road trip from Bangalore to Delhi later this month.
I will be travelling with my wife and two kids.
Just read your post on the site. Could you give me some pointers related to your trip :

- the best route to take
- how many hours of driving everyday
- places to stay during the night
- bad roads to avoid
- bunks to fill up diesel
- any other prep work that I should keep in mind

thanks

Dheeraj

Re: My road journey - Bangalore-Goa-Delhi

Dear all,

I am planning to do a road trip from goa to delhi starting on 30/31st AUG.

Car :SX4 ZXI, 2009 MODEL, recently serviced, wheels replaced
Passengers: Self, Wife, 5 year old labrador
Drivers : Two (Self and wife)

Following are the plans :

Plan 1

Day 1 (30th aug) - Goa- Pune , start at 1400 hrs
Day 2 (31st Aug) - Pune - Udaipur. Start at 0700 hrs
Day 3 ( 01st Sep) - Udaipur- Delhi(NOIDA) start at 0700 hrs

Plan 2:

day 1 (31st Aug) - Goa Baroda , start at 0500 hrs
day 2 (01st sep ) - Baroda- Jaipur
day 3 (02nd Sep) - Jaipur - Delhi(NOIDA)

I'm keen on plan 2 because I will have to cross Amboli ghats for going to pune, and there is a likelihood of a traffic jam on a saturday afternoon.

I am taking less pit stops, because it always becomes difficult to find a hotel which is pet friendly and covieniently located.

I will appreciate if esteemed members can guide me on this plans
Suggest any alternate route
or any other suggestions

Since I have to go to NOIDA, is there any way I can go via agra and avoid Jaipur --Delhi..

Cheers and Regards

My Take:

- You can avoid Jaipur-Delhi, by taking Jaipur-Agra and then the express way. Jaipur-Agra is also 4-lane.
- But to get to the expressway from Agra, you would be doing a fair bit of extra distance.
- You will need to drive on that Agra-Aligarh road to get into the YEW (Yamuna Express way).
- An option to avoid that can be: Jaipur-Bharatpur-Mathura-Express way. (But we need to confirm the Bharatpur-Mathura road status).

For the rest:
- I think its possible to cross Mumbai on Day 1. If you start by 4/5, you should be easily able to cross Mumbai.
- May plan to stay in Surat or if you can stretch to a 1000km make it to Baroda.
- Check with seasoned long distance guys. I cant say how easy it is to cross Mumbai and do a 1000km in a day.

Yes, that should be better. Though the distance may work out more, the road/traffic conditions will be better.

To avoid Agra-Aligarh, I would suggest to catch the NH2 towards Kanpur and then get on the YEW.

+1

But either way its a long distance. And he biggest pain is actually crossing Agra. NH2 via Sikandra, Bhagwan theater, Waterworks and fianlly Rambag beyond the Yamuna brudge is a big pain. I dont know there is no bypass for Agra, esp since its a big city and there are multiple highways coming to this point.

Does not make sense. Because you are not using the available 4-lanes in that region to the best use. Come till Jaipur on 4-lane. Take the Jaipur bypass to NH11 which is the Agra road. Agra-Jaipur NH11 is also 4-lane. Drive till Bharatpur. Exit Bharatpur to Mathur and latch on to the expressway to Noida. The only unknown is Bharatpur-Mathura. (About 40km).
