Re: Ranthambore National Park: A Quick Travelogue

Very nice pictures Anshuman. I loved Ranthambore when I visited it last time in 2010. Luckily my friend's dad knew the local SP at Sawai Madhopur. He personally arranged his police gypsy for me and my wife and sent a forest guard too. We loitered around the entire forest and since it was a police vehicle, we were allowed to cross from one zone into another. I was very lucky to spot a tiger and it walked past our gypsy less than 3 ft away from us. Dont want to highjack your thread, but here are some pictures. It was freaking scary!!! Sorry, now the thread has some tiger pics in it...

Very nice coverage boss. Lovely pictures to support there. More I see these reserve forests pictures on this forum, more I find that there are tremendous opportunities for good nature/landscapes.

Re: Ranthambore National Park: A Quick Travelogue

Day 3 Continued..

Even for the evening safari we got Zone 5 again. Zone 5 has 2 Tiger cubs but they rarely come out. Bad luck again! Zone 4 had a spotting of Macchli Tigress. Zone 5 was the most boring zone i had visited, with not much to see in case you do not get to see the tiger.

Re: Ranthambore National Park: A Quick Travelogue

That's an awesome thread man! You just made me relieve my trip to Ranthambore back in 2008! Thanks! Did you get a chance to see the painted storks, black headed ibises and the thick knees? There are plenty of them near the lake.

This is what we sighted. I just couldn't resist posting these pics.

That makes me jealous! Everyone except me saw the Tiger. This was a unplanned trip, mainly a family outing to spend some time with my nephews.

I am planning next trip a few months later to cover some more National parks, i loved this place but i wish it was not so commercialised.

Very nice photos Anshuman.

What white balance were you using for the Page 1 Sambhar photos? Has come out very well.

Thanks Nilanjanray! I am glad you liked the pics. The color temperature in Sambar pics should be close to 5000K, shot in winter afternoon sunlight. Intentionally kept the white balance slightly warmer than camera's suggestion at the time of RAW conversion.

Re: Ranthambore National Park: A Quick Travelogue

Cant thank you enough for these photos, you made my day! Haven't seen such beautiful wildlife photography in a while! I guess the hunt is still on, till the next trip! Have forwarded this wonderful thread to my friends.

I generally hate monkeys, the kind that are always on the lookout to grab food from tourists, but just loved the ones you photographed, really cute stuff! Sensational photos of the rare birds as well. You sure have some skill with the lens

Re: Ranthambore National Park: A Quick Travelogue

Fantastic pictures Anshuman! You are good with your camera and PP too.

Unfortunate that you did not spot any tigers - I am told this is one reserve which gives you a very high chance of sighting the big cat. I am planning to visit Ranthambore but not sure when I will get the chance...your photos are pushing me to make that decision...
