My Trip to the Last indian Village - Mana (U.K.)

Hi guys,

It is my first thread at team -BHP & it's about my first trip to Badrinath & Mana with my Maruti - Ritz Vxi. The Route was From Meerut - Haridwar - Rishikesh - Rudraprayag - Sri Nagar - Karnaprayag - Joshi Math - Badrinath - Mana. I also visited Auli for an evening .

Me & my Friend Alok were very excited about this trip , because we were planning for a while.

Returning to my home (Meerut) , we also enjoyed water rafting & camping at rishikesh.

Re: My Trip to the Last indian Village - Mana (U.K.)

The Last pic at AULI is the best pic i've taken ever & i am really missing the place. Now waiting for January to visit again for Ski-ing.
It was around 1100 km trip, in which around 800 km was hillways . My Ritz performed well during the trip . However 3rd service was about to be due , when we started the journey so we decided to change Engine oil, Oil filter & clean Air filter & fuel filter at A2Z service at Roorkee & at the end we found that the decision was absolutely correct.

Re: My Trip to the Last indian Village - Mana (U.K.)

It must have been an excellent trip! I did the same starting from New Delhi, and went uptill Mana (Yes, I have a picture of the 'Hindustan Ki Antim Dukaan' too!). Also went rafting on the way back! Good to see that you drove. I went with my family and took a cab instead.

Any tips on hill driving in that region? I remember you have to be careful about the timings as traffic is allowed only in one direction at certain periods of time. Also, many petrol pumps uphill were out of stock. Our cab was a diesel Innova, and the maximum the pump attendant filled was Rs. 500/ or 1000/ worth. Our driver (who belonged from the same region), who had done the trip manytimes, said petrol pumps don't like to offer fuel to cars which don't belong to UK. Probably, in a bid to force tourists to use local cabs. Maybe this was less of a problem with petrol than diesel.

Auli was a disappointment for us. The clifftop club is seriously overhyped but it is the only option there. How was it for you? And did you visit Chopta onway?

@ Dry Ice! Here are some contact info for clifftop club

1- Auli,Clifftop Club Resort - Auli
2- Cliff Top Club: A high altitude adventure resort.

Officially i was offered a room for Rs 5500/- + Taxes for one night, but me & my friend managed to get a room for Rs 4500/- including taxes , because we didn't want comeback from there without a stay.

I also found the club to be overhyped , but it was the only option there at that height.

Re: My Trip to the Last indian Village - Mana (U.K.)

@Ricky speed !

Hill driving in that region needs you to be very very attentive & carefull. Some times there is no Road or Damaged road because of Land slides & all. I am posting a pic here to explain the timings from Joshimath to Badrinath.

As for Fuel, we Filled full at Rishikesh while on the way to Badrinath & did the same at Srinagar while returning. It took around 55 Litres of Petrol (Normal) on this round trip & i didn't find any hurdle in filling up the Tank by Pump attandants , (May be because of a POLICE sign on my car or may be it's for Petrol ).

Auli didn't dissappointed us but the Cliftop Club because of their Tarrif & Monopoly. Even a small chaiwala shop sold us a Coke 600 ml for Rs 40/- but once we stayed there & saw the beauty of the Valley & Mountains & ofcourse the Lake (Artificial) , we begun to enjoy all including the Hotel.
