Just wanted to share some pictures from my recent Bandipur & Kabini trip.
Both the trips were over the weekends with 2 nights each at Jungle Lodges Resort, Bandipur and Kabini respectively.
Instead of rambling on with text, I'll let the pictures do the talking. I would love to answer any query you guys have though.

Route: Salem-Gobi-Sathyamangalam-Chamarajanagar-Gundulpet-Bandipur and for Kabini..its Gundulpet-Begur-Sargur-Kabini

Camera: Canon DSLR with Telephoto lens

So lets start with the birds (my favourite subject)

Lastly the cats.

I wasn't lucky with the cats as all the sightings I had were either too short (hardly got any time to focus) or it was too far away (resulting in a heavy crop thereby degrading the quality of the picture)

The tigress (unfortunately she decided to leave as soon as we saw her)




The resting leopard (way too far away for a decent shot)








Another leopard (rushed into the thicket..never to be seen again)

Which body & lens

excellent photos. Which model of Canon do you use and what are the lenses?

i use nikon d3000 with nikkor18-55, nikkor55-200 and the sigma18-200

Awesome set of pictures robi!!! Pictures of the birds are just too good. I loved the picture of the Yellow Crowned Woodpecker with the chip of wood also shown, the most. Great capture.

robi when I ventured into this thread , I knew it would be a class apart when it comes to images. Brilliant work with the camera man.

That said, these cats(leopards) are shy creatures and every-time I have been there at the JLR in Kabini have seen them only on tree tops.

Just by the way, Bandipur is known for elephant sighting on the road.
did you spot one?

@Mohsin: Well I did see elephants on the road in Bandipur..esp on a drive towards Mudumalai. Regarding the short thread, I prefer to post only a few of the better pics than post every picture I shot (I don't want to use the t-bhp server as a backup device for my images )

Quality photography, great saturation and sharpness.
Your lens reach is amazing especially it shows in the bird photographs, share the gear info.

Special mention to your fantastic sighting, considering that big cat sighting here, is not as easy as in the central Indian forests.
