They took about 2 weeks to fix the whole problem later the reimbursed me the taxi bills for my daily commute.

One thing though i am surprised that they are doing it this late because as far as i remember, after my issue i got to know from my SA that skoda is planning to fix this as a recall (they may not technically call it) and it includes laura too. I know my friend who got the laura at the same time was called upon early this year.

On a side note, i went for 4th service in april and just today i completed 60k.
I tried idling for more than 2 mins. But don't see the difference of AC performance during driving and idling. May be I should just forget about it and enjoy it while it last!

Hi Pramod,
This problem was there only in the first few Yeti batches (first six months) and to resolve this issue they had done a firmware update on the Engine control module as well as the climatic controller. Why this happens is that in idle to reduce load on engine it was programmed to reduce the refrigerant flow to 50% and also the fans did not run on full speed unless it was very hot. This may be fine in Europe, but this made life difficult in India and customers including me! complained to them and they updated the firmware (mid-2011!) and the new firmware maintained the refrigerant flow volume at 100% and also kept the condenser fans running at a higher speed.
I would hope that your Yeti should have gotten that update. If it did get that update then, it it likely now that the refrigerant flow valve has jammed (which is what Skoda is replacing in the current recall). In many cases the metal shards also spoil the compressor and jams refrigerant flow pipes.
Take it to Skoda asap and under the recall they will replace your compressor most likely along with the valve.

Regards,
Behemoth

Its already with Skoda Service since Saturday, I may be getting it today evening or tomorrow depending on the changes and parts. My Yeti is the first batch that got launched in India, have reported the AC problem before and believe there was one ECU update somewhere in 2012 and as mentioned before last year they said they have one more update but there system was not working so they didn't do that last time and where to call me, they never called nonetheless I hope they fix the AC this time for good.

i faced this problem last year when the temperature soared around 47. i suggest you to speak to SA about recall thing. it's better to get it changed under warranty. I am guessing you have less miles and hence your ac may be performing fine for now. i had hit 35 k when i started facing this issue.

I was told there are few more checks remaining and will be getting my Yeti tomorrow evening, this will also include the 4th servicing, am not sure if they have changed the compressor or not, my personal opinion they might have changed the valve only as the compressor as per me was ok.Will update once I get my yeti.

re: Skoda Yeti@ India (An ownership review) EDIT: Now sold!

Got my Yeti back, they replaced the Valve and something called as drier, the condenser was not replaced, but everything was dismantled, reassembled and vacuumed checked, the temperature check at the grill and others were done, the report was shown and this all was done under warranty. The 4th service was done, as usual all the filters and fluid was changed, surprisingly steering oil was topped up, even though the quantity was very less but it was topped up.
Was not able to check anything as it started raining heavily and the temperature too dropped in range of 30 C, will be checking the car in coming days and hope it works as expected. The local garage/AC guys were aware of this valve problem and been doing that on the Laura/Yeti since last 2 years and people were happy with there AC[ I inquired about the AC problem with Luara and Yeti with local garage once I dropped my Yeti for service and they told me valve change is must for AC working with Laura and Yeti] can't believe Skoda took 4 year to find this and do a change while these guys were aware of the problem and fixing it since start!

@Behemoth, can you please scan your Yeti with VCDS and let me know the software version of the ECU and HVAC and other modules, as I don't see any change in the version before and after the service, even though been told that they have updated the version, which based on the scan seem to be same!

Sure Pramod I will do the scan over the weekend and send you the scan text. Is the Ac working fine now after the repair?

The AC seems to chill now, there is noticeable difference in cooling, just to check the cooling I kept my watch with temp sensor on the passenger seat and set the AC auto to 23 and after 15 minutes the temp on the watch was showing 23.5 ! This never happened before at the same place with similar arrangement the temp difference used to be 3+ C . Hope this continues on. They left 2 screw that connect the air intake plastic connector to the bumper, luckily I was able to spot, was checking the engine bay and air intake was vibrating a lot, this made me check the connectors and there you go both screw missing after AC repair job, have to take it back to service and get those screw!
Not driven much hope there are no other issues and the next visit should only be at 5th Service

Hi I am planning a Leh trip in first week of June starting from Ahmedabad in my Yeti. I have driven around 44,000 Kim's till date. There are few questions which I would like the experts in this thread to respond
1. Shall I get my 3rd service done before the trip or after the trip
2. I am planning to change the tyres to Bridgestone but as per the local tyre shop my current tyres are in good condition to last for another 5000-6000 kms, so he is recommending tyre change after the summers. I had only 2 punctures so far in last 2.5 years in the stock tyres. Do you think this change too can be done after the trip
3. Which are the specific parts for yeti that I shall carry during the trip.

If any other Yetian would like to join this trip pl pm me.

I have done Leh in my Yeti and have not faced any problem, let me try to answer your questions

1> Your car has done 44K and 3rd service is at 45K, best to get it services before you head out to Leh, Leh environment is harsh and a better serviced car is better for you.
2> Change you tire they will help you immensely in Leh journey, good tire are MUST for Leh road.
3> Engine Oil, Airfilter, Coolant, towing rope, Puncture repair kit, Good Spare tire and a small can to carry extra diesel, anti freeze in wiper water tank.

I wonder where in Bangalore I can get a steam clean done.

Yes, the fuel average has gone down "considerably", I was not sure first but it became obvious as I crossed 100+ km after the service and the average is hovering around 13 while it used to be 15+ km overall after 100 kms.

I need help here. Whenever i go over 120 or above i feel a sudden drag towards the right. And after a little correction it feels okay. But gets repeated if i continue to be at those speed. I recently gotmy alignments balancing all done (remember issues cropping up after tyre change) and i also got my alloys straightened. What xould be the issue. Do i need alignmenet again or balancing or it could be steering rack issue (my alloys were got bent in recent cg trip).
