For Alto 800 it is 30 PSI. I guess it will be the same for Alto K10 as well. The brand of tyre does not matter.

The small sticker on the door panel says that the pressure on all tires must be 32psi for the k10

I changed to Michelin on the day I bought the car. Checked the air pressure only twice in the past one year (3800km only), once on first service and once on third service last month. There was no discernable leakage in 11 months. I usually use 30 psi both front and back.

I asked because 30psi looked slightly under inflated.

The K10 gearbox sure needs to be worked a lot,to keep the car in the powerband.Especially during evening rush hour crawling traffic, where you crawl along for 10 mins, then suddenly the traffic moves along faster, then slows down, and again faster and i have to constantly shift between 2nd,3rd & 4th.Although i must add i am a bit cautious driver, and even though a particular gear might just be sufficient for the speed i am doing,i shift down so as not to stall in heavy traffic.
Situations like in a quick overtaking move shifting down is necessary, and even in 3rd below 2-2.2K things are slow.Going up the approach roads of a flyover,in 4th it feels lethargic, and with cars honking behind you like mad, swerving and trying to overtake from the wrong side, unless you keep pace with the traffic you get trampled!

However the sweet spot is from 2.5K-4.5 K in 3rd,boy does she move then.Have then quite a lot of cars becoming smaller in my rear view mirror:).40-80 roll on time is excellent.

Likes to be chucked around corners(but then i am graduating from a 800,so anything will seem better!) and feels stable.Never have i felt that i have taken to much speed while turning. Its only those Tornados that start squealing at the slightest hint an enthusiastic turn.

Thankfully after the service the AC is running fine, they changed the thermistor.

Ha Ha Ha. The Alto K10 is your good old 800 with a better engine and better suspension.

With AC I am in 1st & 2nd in b2b traffic. When it is light then you can try 3,4,5. I have never felt lack of pulling power in the higher gears as long as you are in the 2k+ RPM, flyovers are a breeze at 60+ in 5th.

Excellent review, and a very informative thread with loads of valuable contributions from bhpians. Thank you. I have been keenly following this thread since the day it was first started.

I had decided a year ago that this would most probably be my next car, a fittingly worthy replacement for my trusty-rugged-little-carbuereted-monster of an 800. I was sold on this car from the very first day it was launched, actually from the moment I read the first post mentioning the possible launch of an Alto with the K-series engine.

After tonnes of research, leaving no "Alto K10 thread / post in Team-BHP" stone unturned, and after many arguments with my mind, I have decided to finally go with my heart.

I am booking my Silky Silver Alto K10 Vxi on Monday. I promise to start and maintain an ownership thread when time permits :)

- Abhishek.

This is the best time to get this gem of a car. MUL is showering discounts, with a 20K cash back and host of other freebies (mats, mud guards, 3rd year warranty etc), I am sure you will get at least 30k+ off the 3.5L I paid last August. The Vxi as it has
. Tachometer
. Rear parcel shelf
. Wheel covers
. Front power windows
also
. Change the tyres to Michelin ~ 5K
. bumper protectors. ~ 0.3k
. Get a nice ICE from outside ~ 10k max
. Change the Internal rear view mirror to a day/night type ~ 0.6k
. Get door switches fitted on the two rear doors and the boot. The wiring is there, but the switches are missing. ~ 0.4k max
. As I do not like tinted glass, I do not recommend any film, the car AC is excellent in Delhi summers, and night visibility is impaired with tinted glass.

If I am not wrong the Alto K10 is available ex-stock in most of the dealerships, so you can just pay and drive away!

Can you elaborate what u mean by door switches. Back power windows ? door switches for boot also ?

These switches connect to the light inside the vehicle. When you open the front door it will switch the light on. (Of course you have to set the 3 position switch on the light to this mode). Strangely, these switches are there only on the front doors and not on the rear doors or the boot.

What I meant is that the wiring and cut-out in the body is there for all the doors, but switches are not there in the rear door. For the Boot you have to punch a hole to install the switch.

The dealer I had gone to said that the provision was there as the central locking system requires switches on all the doors! Any way I got the three switches and wiring done for Rs.400/.

You will find all the above in the Alto K10, site under "Accessories". That is why the following are missing
. Electric drive on 4 windows (only front 2 available)
. Rear Demister
. Rear Wiper with spray

I wanted all these when I got the K10 last year, but alas they are just not there.

Dealer in Mumbai says either take the festival discount (20000+10000 ) or thake the Xplore with the above mentioned accesories. In other words the above accessories come free in xplore version without any price increase.

Drove at night for the first time, and i was distracted by too much glare from the ORVM and rear view mirror. How do i go about this problem?

For Rear View Mirror, get it changed to "Day/Night version. If the Alto K10 version is not in stock, I believe that the Wagon R one is the alternative. For ORVM there is really no solution, barring swinging it down, but then you cannot use it. I have yet to see the "Day/Night" feature on the ORVM of a small car. The only way to solve both these problems is to change the vehicle to a high seating SUV,else bear with the Indian tendency of driving with high beam, whether required or not. (That may be one of the reasons for SUV popularity in India!)
