Re: Blacky - 1.4 EXi - joining the figo club

This is the service request going to be given when the car is taken for next service probably tomorrow - 7th Jan 2010.

<<<Dear Service Centre Team

These are the pending issues (after windshield replacement/engine injectors-replacement changes)

1. First and foremost – the engine noise is heard inside the cabin is more than it was earlier i.e . Before Windshield change (around 4300km) it was normal. (I always prefer & the better solution would be is to remove and refix the windshield again. Completely scrap the existing sealant and fix it again with perfection)
There are uneven gaps between COWL and the WINDSHIELD ( please refer the attachment – photo-1.jpg) indicating uneven alignment of cowl or inconsistent sealant apply done.
2. Change in Engine noise after injector interchanges & replacement.
3. I fixed the air duct which was not inserted into the manifold during last service. Please do a check on this also.
4. More vibrations felt while switching off the engine. It was never there before.

Oil consumption of the engine - Driven 2714km after full top up of Oil, the level has gone down around 1cm ( pl refer attachment – oillevel.jpg). Please check whether this consumption is normal as per engine specifications.

General Complaints(Not related to the windshield change):
Boot not locking properly . The alignment is of the boot door is also not proper
Braking noise felt at slow speeds ( this is felt almost by all the Figo customers)
Headlight alignment is not proper throwing improper left & right focus. The left and right focus are not in sync. The left headlight focus need to be made higher than the right focus point during DIM mode and should be equal at DIP (Bright) mode.
Both Rear windows roll down automatically.
Bonnet pull lever was to be replaced (a broken one tied with strings was present ) Please see the photo (Bonnetlever.jpg) for reference.
Driver Side mat clip (from the platform side) to be refitted which was lost during last service.
Pending TSB’s to be fixed

Scratches & Dents:
- Right Rear wheel arch - small scratch with a small dent (around 4 cms)
-Left front door - two small scratches
-Boot - Right side two small punches

-I have taken all my personal belongings except Lord Balaji silver statue in the dash as it was pasted.
-All tyres are filled with Nitrogen except Left rear.
- ODO readings
ODO -9884, Trip 2714.4, DTE 108
- Boot has two extra mats
Kindly request NOT TO TOUCH any part of the car unless it is absolutely necessary as per Ford Recommendations
Kindly request not to do a TRIAL and ERROR diagnosis on the vehicle. Kindly request to be transparent on what is done in the vehicle.
Kindly request to update the status of the serivce and not to paste any stickers on the car.

Thanks>>>>>>

To inform the SC that not to do anything on these small sratches & dent.

Re: Blacky - 1.4 EXi - joining the figo club

The gap between the Cowl and the Windshield. I presume this may be due to uneven sealant application while pasting the glass or cowl is not fixed properly. All dusts & leaves go through the gap and I feel it may widen in the longer run.

Re: Blacky - 1.4 EXi - joining the figo club

The mats look good. Did the cabin noise reduce a bit after fixing these mats? This mat was fitted on top of the original carpet mats that came from the factory ?

That windshield looks poorly fixed! My figos windshield was also replaced, and the quality of fit and finish is mucb better

This should be a easy fix if they do things right and don't try something new on your car.

Bonnet pull lever broken.
I'm dumbstruck! How did they pass this car through the PDI ?
Didn't you notice this before during the first service or while cleaning the car?

Were the Scratches & Dents caused by the service people?

Again several other figos have this problem. I will blame this on QC. Mustang you reading this??

Most of your problems can be blamed on the A.S.S

Did you take your car for service today any update ?

Yes Aboslutely Captain. The road noise has come down. Yes. On top of original mats. This should have been done immediately after the car is delivered not like me who did after driving almost 10k or 6 months. But before went for fixing, I supervised the wash guy to clean thoroughly through air. He did a good job. And also at the carpet service centre they used a industrial vaccum cleaner and absorbed all the dust. The dust on the rails happened after that. Courtesy - my kids.
I have not seen a accessory fitting shop like Sun Combines at Coimbatore (there are quite a few more shops like this) in chennai. Here they do in the roads due to rental and administrative costs. I think Bangalore should have some good shops.

Yes. The car is in SC . Got a call now that all issues are fixed and ready for delivery.. let me see whether they have fixed this

Yes I need to check now

I'm dumbstruck! How did they pass this car through the PDI ?

Unfortunately I was not there at that time of delivery. My parents and friend was there. I did not notice till my friend pointed out last week Infact I am busy with other continuing issues . They I looked at other figos. Another thing there is no A/c gas spec sticker on the plastic shield (donot know the right name) Feel that was also got changed.

Were the Scratches & Dents caused by the service people?
No except at the front right wheel arch. Since it was a home pickup, I updated the inventory and gave them.

Again several other figos have this problem. I will blame this on QC. Mustang you reading this??

Mustang is in hiding mode as far as A-S-S is concerned

Most of your problems can be blamed on the A.S.S

Did you take your car for service today any update ?
Car was taken yesterday and now got a call that it is ready. I am going there to check all the problems and take the vehicle. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: Blacky - 1.4 EXi - joining the figo club

Thanks Gemi. Got the car on Saturday. Will udpate on that shortly. Before that got one LED small focus light. I pasted in the boot area exactly on the dummy of the parcel lamp. If you turn clockwise it switches on and goes off if turned anticlock wise. It comes with a big button cell. The power is very sufficient to illuminate the boot area.

snap attached - Atleast some positive from my side (after a very long time) in this post...

Need to something on the rear wiper - which is really missed during rains...

That looks brilliant! Where did you find this ? Can you post a little zoomed out picture of the same?

Re: Blacky - 1.4 EXi - joining the figo club

My cousin brought few LED lights ( 5 cms torches, small lights) from US. I was able to pick this one and suddenly found it suitable for boot. I think this should be available in India also. I will try to get more info from him.

Captain - I thought yours was ZXI. Let me take a single snap and post it.

I pasted specifically on dummy because I can remove anytime if the luggage bags are more and if this causes a hinderance.

Regarding the service status, this is the Ford's feedback

1. The noise level inside the cabin is within tolerance level. So no need to refix windshield. But ford committed that they will take care in case of any issues with regard to this in future. I accepted it, but told that the tolerance level was minimum before windshield change and arose to maximum after windshield change and asked them to explore any better methods (like a insulation coat over the perimeter of the windshiedl) to bring back to minimum
2. Regarding more engine noise & vibration while switching off - Ford says - within tolerance level. I asked them for a joint inspection
3. Brake noise - Ford says - it is normal and not on the higher side. Asked for a joint inspection. I feel more sound while braking when driving down on a ramp.
4. Windshield & cowl gap - not attended - asked them to get back.
5. Ford confirmed that Oil consumption is within limits and nothing wrong - Bit relieved.
Other things have been attended like bonnet level, boot lock lubricated, rear window coming down even after the lever is fixed as per TSB.
Head light - indifferent focus of two bulbs - Asked them to do in next visit.

Eventhough they did not do much, they did not unnecessarily touch anything which is a positive thing. Planning for a long drive this week. Asked for compensation on the A-S-S front.
The response from Ford Regional Service manager is good and he personally took attention and committed which guarantees customers. Hope they take care well.

Re: Blacky - 1.4 EXi - joining the figo club

Hmmm, sorry to say this, but looking at what you have mentioned about the service above, I'd say you should look for other A.S. station. These guys aren't really doing anything at all. The things they did, are possible as "DIY" as well.

As for the tolerances, its your tolerance that matters yeah? not theirs. Its you who paid for the car and repairs, so the job has to be satisfactory for YOU, not FORD.

Re: Blacky - 1.4 EXi - joining the figo club

RGK, will it be possible for you to push Ford to share the 'Tolerance' limits? What decibles are acceptable in the cabin? Whats the max oil consumption in the first 3000km?

Sad to hear about your experience and Thanks for sharing. Good luck.

@gharika - Oil consumption was felt high by me in the initial 5000km. My car has done 12k now. But in the manual( page 34) it says the consumption will be more till 5000km.

Went for long drive to my native back. The car behaved well in 3 digit speeds.
Filled diesel at IOCL in Alwarpet.
Drank 40 litres. The mileage was 17 for combined drive in Highway and inside City with A/c on. Lot of parking and driving inside towns. This is a good mileage.
I chose NH 46 & NH 7 this time. NH46 is bit cramped especially in towns like Ambur. Saw lot of accidents and wrong side driving.

Took the car to 10k service in Rajshree Ford where I bought the car. I was late on that day. Eventhen they accepted my car. Due to single service centre catering 3 districts, Rajshree ford is filled with Ford cars. They say it reaches 120 per day and work late hours.

Asked to check the cabin level noise. One service advisor and front office manager drove the car. They felt noise level is Ok, but it is just on the higher side. I too feel the same. The originality is lost. But advised not to fiddle again. Since Ford has accepted to take care in case of future problems, I ignored.
They felt the car is normal and no issues.
I found some noise in the wheels and felt whether it is from the bearing. But after the test drive they said it was due to tires and not because of wheel bearing. I want to check at home. Nowadays due to time constraints I am not able to do much on these.
Explained them what all to be checked. I was there when all my issues are keyed in the computer. They say tyre alignment and balancing need to be done and chargeable. I said to leave it. I prefer dedicated tire service centre for these type of jobs. Asked specifcally to adjust my headlights. The left focus was much shorter than right head lamp.
They told car will be ready by 6.30 pm. But when I went there it was waiting for water wash.
The service centre is very big. The customer lounge is very neat. Good quality coffee, High speed internet, mineral water are kept for customers. It was a nice gesture from them.
Got the car at 7.30 pm. The next service due was advanced and it is based on the date of 10k service. My 20k service falls on 14th Jan 2012 or 20k whichever is earlier.
They completed all except boot lock. Just they lubricated and gave me.

One of the common thing noticed between Ford Service centres are

1. The Adivsors and managers are very courteous and handle customers well.
2. They ask for feedback once the service is over after a day or two
3. Try to convince the customer for any problem we report, " that is not problem sir". Its OK sir". I could not understand why this attitude. They should understand "we go only if there is a problem and it is not a pleasure to visit service centres".

Filled again in IOCL - shanthi services. Drank 33 litres for (10550-9906=644) 644 km giving a mileage of 19.3.
The drive was mostly in highway and good roads. Did not use AC for the first 175 kms. Mileage was pretty much OK.

Came back to Chennai in NH45. Was doing the same speed. No issues felt. I saw a Omni toppling near villupuram around 5 pm.
Saw a Red Diesel Titanium with Alloys doing 150 constantly throughout due to its better behaviour both within the city and outside.
The headlight adjustment helped me a lot during night driving.

The boot lock issue is pending in my car. The rear window rolling is not completely solved. It is coming down again. I do not want to go to service centre now. Want to drive some more kms and have a check up.

Had a chance to visit a water wash centre with one of my friend who has a vista. There was a mechanic who services almost all cars. He was saying that TDCi engines consume more oil after 40k kms now a days. He may not be fully authentic or authorised.

Fiesta TDCi owners can share their real experiences.
