My New Swift VXI ABS

Hi Guys,

My first ownership thread, Apologies before hand if i make mistakes.

I am the proud owner of a Swift VXI-ABS from the 22nd of Feb onwards.

I have 350 odd KMs on it till date.

Initial review of the vehicle (only a drive review, since we all know about the rest of the swift) makes it out to be wonderfull.

It is more silent, gentle and comfortable to drive than the previous 1.3 car.
I have driven it only under 3500 rpm (would like to know from you guys whether this is necessary?), and intended to do so till 1000 kms.

The engine is responsive without being rude (hope this makes sense)

The gear shift seems smoother than before but seems to have extra play (more than the previous 1.3 car), still it is sufficiantly sure.(maybe this is only there in my specific car).

The suspension does not let in the "bang" that used to come in the previous car if you crossed a puddle at 50 km/h.

There is the "slightest" bit of change in the drive if you switch the ac on.

It is Amazingly quite at idle.

The accelerater is light as a feather ( makes you feel that you are saving fuel).

I have run 320 km on its 1st tank full(40L) and the fuel indicator is about to reach the half way mark, this already suggests a fuel efficiency of about 15, will give exact figures on the next tank full

Check out the pics:

Cheers!

Congratulations on your new Pro. Are the new swift coming with Yokohamas or did you upgrade them?

I also wanted to ask the same thing. Is this K series? (not sure if K series was launched in early Feb - assuming you had booked it then and got it by Feb end).

If it is the K series - Is there any cosmetic difference from its predecessor?

His is the new K series one. Check his first post again where he has compared the ride & engine to the earlier (1.3) one.

Nice spot VTEC!
Yes these are Yoko's(185/70/r14s), I am stupid enough to put them in the very first day of ownership! But Since I drove it with 165 and then with 185 , I can tell, they make a huge difference in the stance/ride of the car!

Hi Vasanth,

Yes it is the Kseries! Manufactured in february! Reached the stockyard on the 16th of february and I gave the booking after looking and checking it in the stockyard (16th evening) on the 17th of Feb!

I could have had it delivered on the 18th but since aparently the gods did not favour the date and I took delivery on the 21st of Feb.

Thanks Vasanth/vtech/ontheroad/Neil for looking at it!

Ask me how I got it so fast! and I'll tell you in the next post

Cheers

Answer your run-in question specifically:

• For a petrol engine do not allow the RPMs to go over 2,500 for the first 1,000 km. After that, you can increase the limit to 3,000 RPMs until 1,500 km and then gradually increase it to the maximum by 2,500 km.

For more info; see here.

Congrats for the new K-series Swift. Has there been any change in the car(cosmetic or otherwise) except the engine?

I sure agree with you that it makes a huge difference the way the car rides. It gives you confidence to zip around.
enough to upgrade mine too on the first day, I ride a 195/50/R15 on my Swift.

Just to understand, Is it good to upgrade to 185/70/R14 or not good?? Sorry I am very weak in it.

Congrats on an Idiotic purchase. Just Kidding with your id. The white swift looks amazing. It still is one of the best looking hatch around. Now with the K series, it probably is 'the' best hatch in the Indian market

Hot selling hatch got a hot K engine, what else we need. It may not be a head turner but a sensible purchase, congrats.

Getting a wider rubber on swift is essential. It improves the road grip and the handling of the car to a great extent. Any tire wider than the company slims is good

Most of the swifts run on 195s & 205s. The tire that comes with the car is not adequate considering the body weight and the power the car has. Wider tires will not only make it safe but also improve the ride quality.
