re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

Need urgent help. I've just dropped my car at Lathangi Ford for the 20000km service. I've been quoted Rs 10000 INCLUDING Rs 2700 for the underbody coating. Isn't the overall cost a bit steep?

Figo 1.4 owners, what has been the cost of your 20k service?

Do you really need underbody coating, I believe that modern cars don't need all this, I haven't got in my figo or any other cars in family for that matter. Be it linea, i20, dzire and accent.

Also, can you please share, the break up of 10 k quoted to you? 10k is too high for 20k service.

It is abnormally high even excluding underbody coating. My Figo D 20k service cost 4050 in 2011 and 50k service last month cost 3960

Am going for the underbody coating as the undercarriage scrapes the humps a lot in Bangalore. Was worried that if its starts rusting, might face problems in the future.

Here's a break-up of costs. They had included something called 'door waxing' which I've now asked them not to do. But even then, the cost is around 8000 with coating.

Engine oil - 458
Oil filter - 458
A/c filter - 355
Drain plug gasket - 64
Air filter - 317
Wiper liquid - 62
Engine oil - 1800 - 3.6 litres
Labour service - 1050
Consumables - 456
Brake bleeding - 150
Underbody antirust - 2720
Door waxing - 1620
Battery test - 105

Also, there's wheel alignment which will cost around 1k at Ford.

Okay, the battery test is not required. But even the cost is abnormally high, the engine oil seems to be over priced, rest I guess there's nothing in the estimate which seems un reasonable.

The cost is quite substantial, i'll be getting my 10k service done within 2 weeks, seems like it is going to pinch my pocket too.

How do i make track name come on stereo display, while playing from pen drive?

It only shows track number and when I press info button, 5-6 times it shows track name, but only for a while. I want track name to be shown then their numbers.

Btw sandisk 8gb pen drive works well with the stereo, however transcend and hp doesn't works. I've tried Kingston, transcend, sandisk and hp. Kingston and San disk works, others don't.

I think you have to switch off 'info' setting. I'm not quite sure since i don't use the stock system anymore.

Go by the manual, check and see if all these filters need to be changed in the 20K service. Its shouldn't cross more than 5k for a standard service with wheel balancing and alignment.

No, there's no info off option. But I got it, you've to press info button for 4-5 seconds, then select file instead of track. Then you're ready to go.

And this setting change is not permanent. You have to do this every time the unit is powered on.

There is a permanent setting. I'll check it on my mom's Figo and let you know.

re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

Hi guys need an urgent advice, toady after washing the car(Figo d) I accidentally left the boot open(was nor latched properly) and I realized my folly in late evening which means that the boot's light was also on for atleast 7-8 hours. Now my fear is that could the battery be discharged by this act? I checked the voltage through diagnostic mode and it was showing 12.3, after which I ideled the car for 15 min and voltage was back to 12.6/7. Now is this sufficient or shall I get the battery charged? I also have to make a highway trip in the morning, is it safe to take the car or will it be unreliable in this state?
