No, my SM did not object Philips Xtreme.

Moreover, this 110 Rs/- upgrade is from ford, so it would not void warranty. Mostly technicians are ill informed and tell you what they hear from SM. I suggest you talk someone at manager levels or head to Nigdi and talk to Atul.

I think if it is within the wattage(60/55W), it would not void warranty.
Will this Rs 110/- upgrade better than the Philips Xtreme(I also have the same). It is OK, but not enough during rainy nights.

+1, I changed the bulbs myself to Osram nightbreaker plus which was lying with me( I dont recommend these bulbs , Philips is better as far as illumination is concerned). Ford manual says bulb specification as 60/55w. Just stick to this specification and warranty is not at all touched, just like changing the tyres as per stock specification.

I wrote to write2md@ford.com about Mr Boneham's open house discussion in July 2011 where he mentioned about the availability of better illumination headlamps and how service centres still dont know what he is talking about.

Today I had a conference call with customer relations executive at Ford and Cauvery Ford Mangalore where they said, indeed such headlamps are available for 110/- per piece. They woud have to inspect my headlamps to confirm that they are the old ones before advising on changing. According to the Ford guy, they are of the same wattage but has better illumination. He was stressing on this 2 or 3 times, so I had little doubts as to whether they are really new or old wine.

After Mr Boneham's discussion in July, I had emailed Cauvery Ford asking about these lamps. They said they havent heard anything.
Last week when I went for 20000km service, I saw these lamps displayed and labelled as "high illumination headlamp for figo" costing Rs 110. I asked the SA whether these were the new ones. But he said these were same old ones

Ford expects some customers to read the "high illumination" and feel the placebo effect. Isn't it obvious that there cannot be any high funda bulbs that costs Rs 110/- ? The Osram NB's costing Rs 1000+ with brighter light is not helping, so what will the Rs 110/- bulb do to improve the illumination?

@Skyline GT-R; If I read right, the Rs.110/- upgrade is headlamp and not bulbs. I guess they are fitting a better designed reflector. I haven't talked to my SA though.

Precisely the reason I wanted to know the experience of new Figo owners.

But on second thoughts, Why does Mr Boneham need to bluff?

I do have Xtreme H4 and it is not sufficient in rain. Please try driving without Fog Lamps and give your feedback.

Rs 110/- for a headlamp upgrade? OMG What is this year? 1942?

The reflectors & the acrylic screen are integrated if i am not mistaken.

Mr. Boneham may not be a liar, but if better than OE H4 bulbs are available at RS 110/- then Osram & Philips are robbing us of 900+ Rs on every set of bulb we buy.

I agree, there is nothing fantastic about the Xtremes, they just do a decent job when compared to the previous OEM ones. If I were not yet to change the bulbs then I would rather try the OEM ones for 110/- than going out for the 1000/- Phillips ones.
