re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

I love the way everyone here is loving there figos. I am in the market to buy a new car around that range but the ritz doesn't excite me, and figo with its ulta headlight switch also doesn't.

it was a fairly new 2008 model.
The car was running into all sorts of problems.

Met with an accident within a week of purchase
Car got scratched while cleaning
We had just parked the car outside, but a coconut tree branch falls on the car.
Tyre got punctured just by hitting an edge on the road.
A sub par dealership experience.
Under car wiring was chewed off by a stray dog.

and more.

It was a good car, but there were too many things that were happening with it. I used to get tired very easily driving it, etc.
I was also spending too much time outside of the country and decided to sell it.

Thats awful, Good thing you decided to sell it then. Clearly a power greater than yours was messing with the car.

Congrats RROD. Good decision, and looking forward for the ownership review from you.

@ Mustang
Are there any upgrades/modifications to the FIGO in pipeline for this year, I remember long back you wrote that Ford will consider upgrades/modifications only after selling 100K units only, I suppose we are reaching that figure soon.

An upgrade to the Figo will be available by the end of the year or by early next year.

1st priority now is the new fiesta and then we get back to the figo.

Thanks vb-san.
No the EXi doesnt come with ABS/Airbags.

Is it true that the seats are of lower quality on EXi compared to ZXi?
Also when i checked the feature list Tachometer was not part of EXi, but the sales guy showed me that there was a tachometer in the EXi version, can someone please confirm if there's a tachometer on the EXi version.

I did a quick check in the Ford website, and according to what they have listed, there is no Tachometer in the EXi version. Here is the link
Ford - Ford Figo Specification Data

It could be that the website is not updated, but Ford is quite good with website updates.

Personally I feel that you should have opted for the ZXi atleast

There is a tachometer in the EXi version. The website says that it is not but it is factory fitted with the tachometer.

I am working on a very tight budget, that's the reason I have opted for EXi.
Any idea about the cloth material in the EXi vs ZXi version.

Yes there is a color difference of the fabric but the upholstery quality is the same. By the way check out the post right above yours. The Exi does have a tachometer.

Here you can see it yourself.

Courtesy: Gemithomas and his red Figo EXi, It would be great if you correspond with him for all the info on the Exi variant.

re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

RROD, get the Zxi. The features on the Zxi make it better value for money than the Exi.

9,800 KM and my figo is going strong.
Headlight bulbs upgraded after my first long distance night drive.

Couple of visits to the A.S.S for the brake pad sound, TSB and the rear C pillar cracking sounds.

Smaller issues creeping up.
Right side drive door rattling a bit, slight dashboard rattle.

The rear C pillars have started making cracking noises again.
Any permanent fix for this? All figos suffer from this problem. Something permanent has to be done please!

+1 to Captain Slow

I understand about your budget limitations, but would still recommend the ZXi for the few useful features that you would otherwise be missing out on.
The electronically adjustable RVM, the rear washer and wiper (was very important for me while choosing the car since i was so used to it in my Santro), the bluetooth feature in the audio etc.
After all if you are on EMIs, an upgrade from the EXi to ZXi would be just few hundreds or may be 1K extra per month right?

So summing it up, one word, stretch!
