That quantity is fine. You were playing safe for your trip, I guess.

All the best.

Right now in Leh, reached Leh yesterday, have driven 2.6k kms from Nagpur, till now the AT is performing really well and I must say it's a boon to have in hills as I don't have to keep on hand on gear and other on steering, don't have to worry about any thing just press the pedal!!
-Pramod
PS: Manali Leh is still not open, need to revise the plan of return

Pramod,

A quick question. Are you using the "M" mode or are you sticking to "D" in the hills?

Great show, Pramod, you have made it in very difficult conditions, among the first to arrive this year in Leh.

thats cool.

Hope the brakes on the slopes are working as expected and you dont need to work on handbrake OR the skills of Brake & throttle management so that the car doesnt slope backwards.

4WD engaged ?

Detailed travelogue expected after your return, click lots of photos of beast as well.

Today was the day for 4wd, while coming back from Nubra, kardungla was being cleared, 2wd vehicle once stopped required to be pushed/pull while I was in 4H and at one place 4L, it's snowing at Kardungla, will proceed toward tangste in an hour.
No need for M. D is good enough, breaks are holding good. Pangong TSO and TSO Morriri is next, permit for Chusul and Hanle is also there, let see what in store.

I am back home in Nagpur, the trip coy cut short because of transmission oil leak at 35 km from Leh, AT biggest problem is this ATF and the weakest link is cooler at all ATF pipes that go through this cooler. I am awaiting response from Mahindra who will be transporting the Scorpio from Leh to Chandigarh and then diagnosis the actual problem fix it and transport it to Nagpur. Till the leak everything was fine and the AT was performing like a GEM and within a minute everything came to standstill, it need to be towed and for towing AT the propeller shaft need to be removed and then towed, it was not a good experience but I am waiting for the next action to follow and when I will get the vehicle at Nagpur.

I have to book a taxi from Leh to Srinagar, then take flight from Srinagar to Delhi, stay a night in Delhi and take a flight back to Nagpur, getting all this done was a difficult task and that too when you have your family with you, anyway we all reached back safe and in time without much trouble.

Am hoping Mahindra takes care of my Scorpio and get me the vehicle at the earliest. Its just 5 month old vehicle at 12395KM on odo.

PS: meanwhile enjoy few of the snaps, will be uploading more later

Pramod,

Was waiting to comment till you finish the trip; unfortunate that such a wonderful journey had to be cut prematurely.

Hope you are in touch with the M&M CC and not just the MASS personnels. Hope your get your ride back soon.

And please do post any more photos that you might have. Share both sides of the coin with us.

Sad to hear about the premature end to your holiday.
Do you think driving around India in exotic vehicles (i.e. not-so-popular cars) is a difficult thing?
Did the mechanics in Leh understand the ATF issues? And are parts available in case anything has to be changed?
Any preliminary diagnosis on what failed?

OMG, what a nightmare

Sorry to hear this Pramod & I hope your MHawk is restored back to all its glory soon. But this kind of stuff is scary to read about, particularly when you're out there in the wilderness with the family. Do keep us posted about what M&M have to say about this, it will help future travellers who go the "Automatic" route.

As I mentioned on the Scorpio pics thread yesterday, awesome snaps! I didn't know about your mishap then, my apologies!

Kumar ji, yes driving an AT is difficult as they are not common and the service center don't have any info and parts related to AT. The vehicle has to be transported to Chandigarh for Diagnosis and repair, nothing can be done at Leh, the only thing that is done is the vehcile is in custody of authorize service center from where Mahindra will take over!!
