Re: My Blu-Monster- Ford Fiesta 1.6S Aquarius

Need a more economical hatch for the running I do daily. I end up spending 700-800 rupees on fuel a day, these days. The car is in such good shape that I am going to sob inconsolably when (if) I have to see it go :-(

I dont think there are petrol hatches that will give you a significantly better mileage unless you go to the entry level petrol hatch category.

Other than that if you buy a diesel hatch, you shall be shelling out a lot of money on a new car which wont obviously be not as fun to drive as your 1.6 S (not even close). It will easily take you 2-3 yrs to recover the extra cost while driving a car that is not as good to drive as your current car.

Do a little math and think about it. Also add diesel service costs that are about 30% more than the equivalent petrol service costs.

A diesel Figo is what I am looking at. We intend to keep it for atleast 5-6 years and use it as a workhorse. Agreed, we will lose money, but running costs will be low and there will be no hesitance in taking the car out every day. But yes, the S will be missed even if I graduate to an Audi, someday.

Looks very less, the price of all the cars have shot up significantly so you cannot get even a small car for les than 2lks 1.6S is definitely a great model. 5.2-5.4 should be good

So total usage 1.7yrs, I have not done any modification from it's originality and no accidents whatsoever. I have extended warranty running and is insured. I quoted 6.5lk as the price of car is all gone up and new one cost about 11lk let me know the best price
Thanks
Guys can anyone comment on this quote. For 2009 1.6s in chennai, what would be the ideal price?

Dear Camon, never trust care wale or mahindra first choice, because they discourage everyone to buy from owners and rather make the buying through them, thus they make good profit. If you see one of fiesta thread, a gentleman from chennai sold his fusion ( outdated) and that has done more than 1.3lk kms with many issues for 2.8lks to first choice and they in turn sold it to another guy for 3.3lk so IMHO one must trust the owners who have taken care of the vehicle. These brokers use words like "excellent conditions" to tap gullible customers so better take wise decision.

Regarding price yes there has been increase in price from 3 yrs ago although not much in the last 1yr time

3.75 to 4 lakh should be the max price for this vehicle. Petrol sedans sell for very less these days due to the hike in petrol rates!

Hey frank, though I probably never posted on your endless thread on ICE, it was always a joy to see you investing so much passion into your ride. Sad that you have decided to sell it off.

Anyhow, just wanted to suggest the Verito. It's a cheap & economical diesel sedan;I would really recommend checking it out. It's a no-nonsense car that can serve you well for many years to come.

Take care.

Re: My Blu-Monster- Ford Fiesta 1.6S Aquarius

Just thought of updating about this car and reviving this old thread here.

I purchased the car from Gilead, two years ago and it has been a great journey so far. Me and the Blu Monster have clocked 25k kms in the last two years, and she recently crossed 90k on the odo.

It took me quite a while to know that a thread about this car exists here. But that is the beauty of Team-BHP. It felt wonderful to read through the memories and discussions of the car from almost 15 years ago.

Regarding the car, I have had to do a lot of the maintenance, like a full suspension overhaul, to bring her back to what the 1.6 S stood for. And boy does she shine on the twisties and on the highways.

The engine feels just about adequate, especially when compared to the modern turbo petrols. But the way she pulls from 3k rpm to the 6.8k rpm red-line is sublime even today, and will put a lot of modern econobox cars to shame.

But the car's true highlight is the suspension setup. Firm on low speeds, but go anywhere above 80kmph, she hugs the road and gives immense grip while plastering a smile on your face.

More updates on the way on how I found this car and her journey over the last couple of years.

Signing off with a pic clicked this morning

Beautiful car with a complimenting paint job and a subtle yet equally beautiful alloys. This version of Fiesta is a timeless beauty like the immortal Evos.
