Sorry if this is a stupid question.
am not very sure about the cable but a 12v mp3-fm modulator will do the job for you. it plugs into the 12v socket, connect the usb key to the modulator and the music will be transmitted to the desired fm frequency on the stock hu. works like charm with very minimal interference on my car.

check out the link, different makes are available, the most expensive one may be the best of the lot.

eBay India: CONVERT YOUR ANY CAR FM INTO MP3 PLAYER MODULATOR (item 390132838073 end time 21-Dec-2009 06:53:44 IST)

if the direct link fails to open, log onto ebay.in and look for 'fm modulators' or '12v gadgets'.

raamki@ No offence but after installing such a costly setup in your car what is the point in going for such Xmitter in which there is scratching interference!

Nura,

The AUX-in port is to plug in the 3.5mm stereo cable (see the picture below..both the ends will look like what you see at one end of a headphone/earphones). So basically this port is for Audio-in. You can connect any audio player (portable mp3 player, ipod, cellphones, even laptop).

If you have got only a pen-drive, then the best bet is to buy a mp3 player which can play music from pen drives (you can walk into any sony/samsung or computer electronics store - price will range from 1000/- for cheap chinese stuff. However, a branded one like sony etc I think can be had for <3K)

The 3.5 stereo cable can be bought for 100-300/-. Go for the gold-plated once which are of better quality. Look for at least 1.5 to 2 meter long cable so that rear seat passenger can have the mp3 player and can control the same from the back.

One end of the stereo cable will go into the AUX-in port and another end to headphone/earphone connection socket in whichever audio player (mobile/laptop/mp3 player etc) you are using.

Sometimes, mostly on mobiles, the headphone socket is 2.5 mm. For this you can buy the 2.5 to 3.5 converter (See the 2nd picture), again for <100 bucks from any computer electronics store.

Once you have these, your kids can seat at the back with the mp3 player/mobile at the back and listen to whatever music they want while you concentrate on driving;-}

You will be lucky to get a good FM transmitter since most of these are cheap chinese ones and needs to be plugged into the 12V socket..Last year I purchased one and everytime the fuse will blow up. Also, there will be interference if you are near some other cars using similar stuff and you will not get good quality music / proper stereo effects from the speakers.

Since you have a pen drive, so I assume you will be using a laptop/desktop to transfer the mp3s. You can also look at copying the mp3 files on a CD-RW disc (costs 30-50 bucks and can be erased/rewritten many times) - one CD will hold >100 files. The sound quality will be the best here. Only drawback is selecting/navigating specific songs thru the music system is a pain.

Hope this helps.

@sanjay, but i have the opinion of other fiestians, who have quoted 2250 for sports pedal and 8500 for spoiler, was it without tax, even if it is without tax, still the amount is not as high as 3200 and 10500 respectively.

Ruchir, need to check the price inclusive of tax with other Fiestians..but this was the price I got from both the Chennai-based Ford dealers. Have u confirmed the spoiler type. There are 2 types, one of which is the same as fitted on the Fiesta-S model, and it costs 2K more than the normall one. Check out the pictures of both these spoilers from other Fiestians and confirm with your dealer..he might be qouting the sports model maybe.

I have bought the non-Sports spoiler as well as the sports pedal..will be getting the final accessories invoice today. Will share the same with you.

For Spoiler, you have no choice but to go with your dealer, since the same has to painted to match your car color at dealer's end..also it requires specialised fitment. Fitting is elsewhere may not be the best option, IMO.

Sports Pedal can however be fit by yourself with some effort and lubricating..hence this accessory can be sourced from other Ford dealers.

sanjac, as confirmed by Anachronix, the Ikon 1.6 has better low end pull. But the Fiesta mid and top end is way better. You may not want to indulge in traffic signal getaway races during the run in period anyway.

Anachronix/Gilead, I was tuned to Ikon 1.3 uptill now..getting to 30Km speed using the 1st/2nd gear was a breeze. Anyway, post driving some 100Kms after delivery, am getting a better hang of the Fiesta handling, some jerking happens sometimes due to overzealousness, but no gripes whatsoever. Just that it will take some more time, I guess.

No intention of racing..run in period or not..however, the honking that starts from behind is the real pain.

Also, I must say that the Fiesta gear shift from 2nd to 3rd is amazing. Have not driven any other car except Ikon in the past..from 2nd to 3rd was like shifting up, right and then up. In Fiesta, a simple flick upwards straightway slots into the 3rd - like a diagonal movement instead of vertical-horizontal-vertical shifting - fabulous. Not sure if other C/C+ etc segment cars feel the same or better, since there is no scope of any further refinement here, IMO.

one more thing to add in the beauty of fiesta,
how about to go for a chrome exhaust finisher and chrome door handles, it will look great with White,
seen similar in corolla and city VMT, Looks good
i need to confirm with the dealer about the same, or will the existing door handles be chromed (If Possible)

The way currently I am doing it is for starting from standstill ,

a)slot into 1st gear and slowly release the clutch

b)as soon as the car slightly moves ahread, press the accelerator pedal till it goes to 1.5K rpm

c) now slot into 2nd gear, slowly release the clutch, simultaneously pressing the accelerator

d) slot into 3rd gear when the rpm touches 1.8-2.0K in 2nd gear

My issue is it takes ages to reach stage (d) - by the time all vehicles have zoomed past. Once it is 3rd gear, it is a dream, but by then the next signal has come.

Will appreciate if someone can explain what am I doing wrong here?
Well, it is your running in period, and you might not be flooring the pedal, at least unconsciously. I am surprised because I am always the first to lead after a traffic signal.

BTW, I assume you have a 1.6 petrol.

I've never driven an Ikon 1.6, so I cannot comment. However, the Fiesta has 'drive-by-wire' throttle, whereas the Ikon does not. Therefore, when you floor the pedal in a Fiesta, there might be a momentary lull for the technology to translate it into action, and that alone, I suspect, is the culprit.

Well, I change to 2nd gear asap (around 2000 rpm), and rev upto 4000 rpm in 2nd and 3rd before changing to the higher gear. The raspy sound of the engine past 3000 rpm is quite addictive!

However, I do this only when I get into that competitive spirit---such driving aint all that good for F.E.

This apart, yours is a new car, so please refrain till you cross 2000 kms on the odo.

The Fiesta has one of the best shifting gearboxes I have ever used. The shift from 2nd to 3rd and 4th to 2nd is too good. The shift from 1st to 2nd is slightly notchy and since the shift is so short, you have to get the movement right.

Does anyone know if the exhaust note on the sports model is different because of the different tip? The roar beyond 3K is addictive.
