My S does not have mud flaps either. I think it would interfere with the 15 inch tires. I don't think there is any space to put the mud flaps.

So that means, if you are driving on a road full of mud or muddy water
all these will flashed on your car body (especially onto the front door bottom portion)?

Yes. :( The beautiful skirts have been getting a bit dirty in the front and the back the last few days as it's been raining here.

Rs.2800/- Plus Tax seems to be okay as I too have paid almost this rate
when I did the under coating.

So obviously, you need a big brush to clean those dirty things daily?
I never thought that this model is coming without mud flops

servicing 1.6 SXI

On 14th Nov i took my Aug2008 1.6 SXI to authorised service station. it had clocked 8000 kms so far. The service advisor first asked which oil to be put in synthetic/normal to which i responded with "normal". Later on after investigating the details he said there is no immediate requirement of service. It shall be a mere waste of money and said to run another 4k before bringing it in.

Any comments.

Almost 15 months from the delivery?
So, you went for the 4th service which has to be done either on 18th month or 30,000kms whichever is earlier? You still have 3 months time or
12000kms to run for the 4th service.
Did the SA said any reason for asking you to come after running 4k kms?

Incase the car doing well, why you want to do the service in 3 months
advance?

As per the new Owners' manual:

1st service : 3 months or 5000kms
2nd service : 6 months or 10000kms
3rd service :12 months or 20000kms
4th service :18 months or 30000kms

(is any difference in your manual?)

BTW, Did they called and reminded you about the service date (most dealers normally do this?)

Dear nairrk,

Did my 1st and 2nd service on time basis (Not kms) i.e. after 3 months and 6 months resp. and both the times dealer called.

This time i went on my own since i had crossed 12 months. No calls from dealer.

Few tips contributed by another Fiesta owner !

I am not sure if these points are mentioned elsewhere already, its sent to me by another Fiesta owner which he got from one of his friends in UK. It was actually a PDF file with 7 tips right from anti-hijack, window one-touch, 2 stage locking/unlocking, new key programming etc. but only 3 of them are applicable to the Indian Fiesta, so I am quoting them here:

1.Self Diagnostics Mode

The Self Diagnostics Mode gives you in-depth information about your engine and the actual numbers in digital. To use it, follow the steps:

1. Insert Key but do not turn it on
2. Press and hold the Trip Meter Reset Button
3. While holding the reset button, Turn ignition until dash lights come on and continue holding the button
4. Within 10 seconds, the display should change to "test" in LCD font and the needles will do a full sweeping.
5. Release the Button
6. Pressing the button will now cycle through some 17 different modes
* 1. Shows a Gauge Sweep
* 2. Shows all 8's on the LCD (LCD TEST)
* 3. Illuminates all the bulbs on the dash
* 4. Displays hexadecimal value for ROM level
* 5. Displays the hexadecimal value for EE level
* 6. Shows DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code)
* 7. Digital Speedometer - mph
* 8. Digital Speedometer - kph
* 9. N/A
* 10. Digital tachometer
* 11. Fuel volume
* 12. Engine coolant temperature
* 13. Battery voltage
* 14. ABS fail
* 15. Electronic brake distribution (EBD) failure
* 16. Illumination
* 17. Crank Sense

2. Two Stage Unlocking
Press both Lock and Unlock buttons on your key at the same time, wait until the indicator lights flash once. When complete, two stage unlocking will be activated / deactivated accordingly.

Third point is about new Key programming, I dont think we do it ourselves anyway, so omitting that part.

PS: Please test this at your own risk, I dont think these are mentioned anywhere in our manuals. I will anyway check them this weekend.

My Car

Hi guys, I got my car on the 11th, but I haven't had a chance to write a report yet for a few reasons.

1. A little tied up with work.
2. Enjoying the car too much.
3. My camera conked off after I clicked the first snap on the delivery day and I don't want to write a review without photos.

I did manage to get one snap and I wanted to share it with you guys. Maybe the camera's CCD melted 'cos the car is so hot.

Thanks. My experience with Chennai Ford was not good. You can read about it here. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...nnai-ford.html Switched to MPL who provided very good service.

My sales guy was Michael. Who was yours?

Mine was Rajan - Sales Manager. He was insisting that i should go for diesel and atlast i had to convince him to show me the petrol car. But the experience was real good and the best part i liked was he never overcomitted anything. He was straight forward and there were no hidden talks.
