Thought I would share some of my mileage figures for my 1.4. Mostly driven during rush hour traffic in Bangalore. Nice handy little application on my iphone churns out this information in html format.

Shaju is joking as usual (you noticed - he changed the word 'car' into 'head' and recommeded for a good sleep).
These initial vibrations (very minor) are there and no need to worry.
If you keep worrying for all these minor matters then you will not get a good sleep-
thats why @shaju is recomming for a good sleep.
cheers!

Although the DTE does not throw up accurate figures, it's behavior in your car is worrisome. am not sure if i've read similar problems reported on other fiesta's here but please take her into the service center and get this checked. It doesn't sound right.

i guess it's just getting ready to be revv'ed, now that 2k is just around the corner!! your Ocean probably just shrugs herself every 15 seconds on idle to let you know that she's ready!!

got no technical answer to that question, have a word with the service advisor at the time of her first service, may not be anything serious!! good luck with the revv!!

Quick Customer Guidence

Hai, all fiesta owners !

Have you all got a small leaflet(card) containing 10 pages?
The heading ''Quick Customer Guide':

I will point out some hints given therein..

1- Check the coolant level daily, before starting the engine - Is it
necessary i.e daily checking (unless you do long drive daily)?

2- Check the engine oil level daily, before starting the engine. - as above,
is it a must to do daily checking?

3- It is not recommended to clean the engine compartment with
compressed jet of water. - seems okay.

4- If water in 'fuel light' illuminates in Diesel cars, check the quality of
the fuel immediately. (HOW?). Water must be drained from filter
immediately, failure to do so will damage the engine. Any Diesel car
Owners did notice this problem so far??

5- After 15 minutes of driving, engine temperature would reach/remain
around 80. Lower or higher reading on the gauge indicates abnormal
conditions. (even 5 minutes engine running on idle will show the
temp as such?)

6- If incorrect fuel/fuel additives is used inadvertantly, do not start
the engine. This may lead to engine damage. (when we go to a pump
and ask for unleaded petrol, how far we can check whether the petrol
is incorrect or not?

7- Switch off the engine immediately, if oil pressure light remains ON
after starting or illuminates while driving. Continuous driving with light
On condition will cause severe damage to engine/engine components.
Seems ok.

8- Do not switch off engine immediately after comiong to a halt,as this
will damage the Turbocharger. Idle the engine for 30 seconds before
switching off the engine. Similarly idle the engine for 30 seconds
before moving the vehicle. How many are following this rule?

Thanks

@stumpz

Is this the mileage figure for your Fiesta 1.4 Diesel?
And you saying that your car achieved 13.79kmpl on city driving?

Thanks for your reply.

I haven't read about this issue faced by anyone else on this forum. Not sure if anyone wants to try this on their car - It's more like observing the behaviour of the fuel indicator on signals after pumping the brakes.

It is definitely a pretty strange occurance - will observe for a couple of days more and shall contact the service center if it persists even after the next refill.

Plan forward is to refuel this Friday night for the weekend trip to Nasik. Will get an idea of the in-city FE as well as whether the behaviour is consistent after the refill.

Hey Bangalore BHPians ! Chennai is going great. How about a similar GT in Bangalore ? Not seeing much interest from Bangaoreans. Also no recent post in the Meet-up section.

Checked only once a month this far

2- Check the engine oil level daily, before starting the engine. - as above,
is it a must to do daily checking?
Did this only once so far in the past 31 months!

3- It is not recommended to clean the engine compartment with
compressed jet of water. - seems okay.
Yep, but I clean it once a week with a wet cloth

4- If water in 'fuel light' illuminates in Diesel cars, check the quality of

5 mins are enough.

6- If incorrect fuel/fuel additives is used inadvertantly, do not start
the engine. This may lead to engine damage. (when we go to a pump
and ask for unleaded petrol, how far we can check whether the petrol
is incorrect or not?

Isn't there a light for poor qualitiy fuel of malfunction of the catalytic converter?

7- Switch off the engine immediately, if oil pressure light remains ON

On condition will cause severe damage to engine/engine components.

Yep

switching off the engine. Similarly idle the engine for 30 seconds

I too was confused, but found out from this forum that it applies to Diesel cars only--there is no turbocharger in petrol Fiestas

Thanks

I can give you guys the Ford India RSM number, please let him know about such a meet. I am sure if you can line up above 10 Fiestas on road, RSM will be forced to offer some free lunch and soda water for sure. Indirectly its a great promotion of the brand too ! Who says NO to a free lunch ?
