I see this brake issue in Fortuner to be snowballing into something big.

Brakes are so basic for an automobile. How could the manufacturer overlook it?

Posts in the url shared by sdp1975 indicates that bigger brake pads will solve the issue.

See the below thread:
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/1755707-post9.html

I don't know whether I am exaggerating, but does this mean that whenever one sees a speeding Toyota SUV on the rear view mirror, one should give way.

I am extremely disappointed with Toyota. I have been seriously considering the Fortuner as an upgrade.

Mods, sorry for the back to back posts. Please merge them.

Anyone have the accessories price list of the Fortuner?

Although most accessories are horrible, would like to know how much the Front Bonnet Mirror, Window Visor and Muffler tip cost.

The price seems to have gone up considerably since launch. Its 19.17L ex-thane now, I believe it was 18.40 when it launched less than a year back !

The Fortuner is finally confirmed to be coming home at the end of this month

Frankly there is nothing much Toyota or you can do to the rear drums. Converting it to disks is a complicated task for both. I doubt Toyota will open up a can of worms by agreeing to a disc conversion for your vehicle. All other fortuner owners will be clamoring for the same. Your best bet is to sell the Fortuner for a premium when you can still get a premium.

Dilip,
What about the dealer? Did you take the vehicle to them? Clearly indicate to them that you are not comfortable and do not feel safe with the vehicle.

IMO, the dealer do have a obligation to address your concern.

There has to be an escalation path.

Hi! Sahil, My fortuner in Black is also expected by the end of this month, as I had canceled my earlier booking in september.
But sincerely , I am now scared with all these user expirences of the Fortuner having poor brakes. I mean I have driven the fortuner on more than a couple of occasions but I felt the brakes were weak, not out rite dangerous. I just hope Toyota India gives us better brakes, before it gets delivered.

Here are the prices for the accessories that you want (Delhi Prices as of today)

Front Fender Mirror (Black / Silver color)- 4012

Side Visor - 3868

Muffler Cutter, general- 988.

I got the complete list today only as I wanted the same accessories for my Fortuner as well. Can upload a full scan sheet of the accessories price list if you want.
Cheers!

Car crazy- Thanks and please do upload the complete list. I wonder why they have mentioned only Black and Silver as color for the mirrors. I have seen plenty of white fortuners with matching mirror color.

Are there any good quality visors in the market? I have had it on my Endeavour in the past and it didn't last more than a few months.

Also I remember seeing in another thread that a Bhpian in Dubai had fitted LED rear lamps, they looked wicked. Would love to get those! Any clue on their pricing and if they are available here? I can't seem to find that thread either...

Sahil, I am attaching the scanned accessories list. The fender mirrors are painted at the dealer end only. Also the dealer is selling non- Toyota accessories too.
There are good sunvisors available in the Market, but they usually fall off in about 6-8 months time. So, this time I 'm thinking of going in for the Toyota stuff only but it is quiet expensive!

Regarding the LED tail lights, i guess you can contact Viper for that!!

UPDATE: Just asked my friend, who is a manager in Toyota India, that newer fortuners are indeed coming with upgraded brakes.

Also, I guess the current set of owners should contact their dealers & ask if they are offering the brake upgrade!

I think they will come up with better break pads. Slim chances for them to put on rear discs.

I think better brake pads & some better servo settings for the pedal too.

Better brakes are now available on the newer lots, which are being delivered and to be delivered , as mine.

My car is being dispatched from the factory on the 24th, will it have the upgraded brakes?

Could you ask your friend of elaborate on the upgrade? I hope he didn't just mention it to keep you from canceling the booking?
