GV vs Fortuner vs Pajero does not belong to this thread. May be a more detailed thread later on. Off the cuff each has its good and bad points. Me? I would plonk for 2.4L GV right now if I had money in my pocket (or if i can find some generous donor - anyone?).

Yes changing tyres to A/T tread or better is a must if you are going off road.

That was my question - what possessed them to shod the Fortuner with Dunlops when we have a whole lot of better & cheaper options?? And you can see from Sudev's review that they are useless in slush.

Yep but seriously how many of the first 5000 customers are planning to do serious offroading. The dunlops - useless in the slush do a fair job on the highway as well as look good. I think that is all that most buyers are looking for.

I read somewhere that the intial hype is over and the Fortuner bookings have reopened with lower waiting? Anyone confirm this in Bombay?

Has Toyota indicated launching a 2wd version? I hope they do !

Fortuner is a compelling machine. hope Toyota will start production in India and can reduce price by 2L. That will make most of the innova buyers to move up

So have the 7000 odd bookings been canceled? I doubht they will launch the 2WD version until they milk the 4WD as much as they can. Once the hype dies down, they will launch the 2WD at a lower price point, I think..

I doubt they'd launch a 2WD version in India, the 4x4 is one of the key differentiators between the Fortuner & the Innova.

Is the Fortuner even offered in 2WD with this 3.0 diesel anywhere?

2WD will probably be launched with the 2.5 Innova engine. Without the added burden of a full-time 4WD system the 2.5 should do fine with some increase in output similar to the 2WD Fortuner that comes with the 2.5 Engine.

Sahil, as per information . The Delhi Dealer is the No-1 in terms of volume sales. ( sorry the dealers name id just out of my mind ) hence He gets the major chuck of Fortuners per month . I was surprised that the whole of Bangalore ( 2 dealers) just gets 5 % of the total monthly produced volume
