Want to understand the rev limits, since I find it difficult to keep under 3K rpm. And upto what kms. should I consider keeping in under limits??

Its recommended to keep it below 3K till you cross 1500 - 2000

Check Frank's waited for 2K and now he is free to accelerate her

I am using Normal Petrol from HP/Indian Oil with 30-40 ml of System G every tank full. I also alternate this with Speed/Power (when I personally go to fuel up) but I don't use System G with the premium fuels.
Frank, here are a few things to consider to get out of the 8kmpl zone:
-Consult with others and find a good petrol pump.Chances are you are not getting the fuel for what you are paying.(filling malpractices)
-Keep filling at a consistent pump. Dont switch around unless and until its absolutely required.
-I would suggest filling the S with regular unleaded only. Make sure its unadulterated, that is what counts most.
-Cars sold in india with exceptions like the 3.6L superb have been tuned for regular unleaded and will perform 100% on regular fuel.
-Power/Speed and additives do not enhance the performance of the car. And like i mentioned a few months ago neither does system G improve FE. (clearly you know by now.)
-Tweaking your driving style a little will help a lot. Drive smoothly i.e try and avoid unnecessary braking. Rolling will improve FE tremendously.
-Higher gear at low speeds wont necessarily help in the FE. Correct gear at a decent engine speed will help. eg. 5th gear 60 kmh and + only.
-Clean your air filter and get the car checked for any friction in the bearing etc.
-Lastly dont try too hard to get the FE, just drive casually and the FE will settle in as the car gets used to your driving style.

Hope this helps

thanks for the points JRD. But I practise almost the same rituals in all cars, but this one is really thirsty!

I have been pushing the car quite a bit of late. Revved her to 5000 with the AC on, and touched about 90 in second gear on a couple of occasions. The rasp from the exhaust and the turbine smooth journey to the higher revs makes me want more!
What an adrenalin rush! She just flies. And keeps to her daily job of playing temptress. Cargasms over cargasms, she just keeps satisfying me daily!

Why in the world are you using system G on a brand new car?

It may not do any harm but neither will it do any good. That could also be the reason for low FE. Just try a couple of tanks of regular petrol. No premium stuff and see.

The Scratch - so some one did this to you too.
just few minutes back I was reading @Kumar7 writing about a minor sracth on the side strip(chrome). Presume, mostly these kind of sratchs are being done by the two wheelers. May be it just happened whilst they parking or moving their vehicle within short space etc..
Sorry to see the scratch.

I am going to try normal petrol and see. But it's not going to be too different. Actually I don't mind 8 if I drive this way! Since the last week (2000 mark) I have been revving her at will. My Esteem used to give 9 in this kind of driving. So 8-8.5 is good ;-)

@nair: sad to hear about a scratch on your car too. But I am not even depressed now!
