I think Good Friday is a 'mourning day' for major part of the world. I am not sure about Ford service centres, but for me personally its a non-working day. We try to have only one meal and spend more time in prayer and church. I used to be very obsessed with the Fiesta but not anymore, realizing there are 100s of more important things in life than a 'commutation machine'.

My next priority with regard to the fiesta is getting a stanley or similar wrapping, the fabric has started showing signs for an upgrade.

Shaj, you should probably call that pal of yours @ Ford, the one you met after taking delivery of the car and explain to him about the shoddy job they've done on the repairs.

don't leave it lying down for too many days, get it looked at as soon as possible, make an issue out of it!

btw, me traded in my santro for a punto, white color 1.3 mjd emotion pack. Got a pretty good deal for both the old and the new cars!! It got registered on the 31st of march. Taking delivery tomorrow.

uploaded a few pics in the 'booked my car' thread, check it out!

We still have to catch up, owe you those stickers if you remember!!

Congrats! would love to hear a comparo between the 2 cars. I took a sedate drive of Punto MJD and loved it. Nice and easy to maneuver.

Thanks Nairji, atlast Unni will be joining me for a drive to Ranganathittu in search of some birds with 2 other friends of mine (mostly next weekend) !! If it sounds funny, remember, its better than going to state boarders to mark our presence what Unni is famous for.

I take it as an opportunity to sit on the backseat for the first time after owning a Fiesta (8 long months stuck on the driver seat) and another chance to get the car judged by a diesel addict !

Happy Easter, Sir.

Hope you remember my question and your answer, some time back regarding installing a sunfilm over already installed one..well, I just went ahead today and installed a 3M CS20 serires for appx 3K for sides/rear over and above the Huper-Optik which was already present.

My heart almost stopped a few times seeing the guys remove the side window glasses..but at the end, the results are awesome, as of now. The dark tint on Moondust Silver is looking good. Am assuming my car will be lot cooler becos of double-heat rejection. The best thing is now I can be more discreet inside the car and do whatever I feel like..no more fear of probing eyes;-}

2 Drawbacks though:
- The round chrome reflection of the a/c vents in the ORVMs are more prominent and is a real irritant
- Night driving visibility will be a tad compromised, but I was used to it in my Ikon with shiny reflective tints, so I think will be able to manage, with overall good visibility in a Fiesta being better.

PS: The overall experience of seeing the windows getting removed is pretty good. You only need a screw driver (magnetic) to open the door pads/glasses and refix...it can be a rather easy DIY job in case one is finicky about cleaning from inside out once in a while.

Thanks and glad to know about your install. Let me know how its prone to scratches or marks after a month.

This summer (not really started yet) I find my fiesta AC is struggling to keep the passengers cool. Parked in an open space while shopping, I find a good 5 mts waiting to get the temperature normal inside even after doing the usual process (keeping the glasses down and raising the knob to 3 or 4 for a while). So sunfilm is getting the highest importance. My side and back are still the free-fitted cheapo-dealer product. May be I will rip it away if things go unbearable and get some good quality stuff installed.

I have to get stanley seats before the monsoon starts (atleast 2 months time).

Since my first Huper-optik install was pretty new, there were no scratch marks. A few pin-head sized air-bubbles here and there (exisiting underneath the HO film) have become silightly more prominent now becos of the dark color, but can only be noticed if you are hell bent to find the faults. BTW, I don't think the branded tints can be scratched that easily..they are pretty much scratch resistant if a proper cloth is used to clean/wipe. At least that has been my experience so far.
==========

Cheapo dealer means? Non-branded one's is it?

Yes yes, it doesnt have a brand. May be they buy the sheets in kilos and cut it according to the requirements. What more can I say !!

The sales guy had promised 3M installation while booking the car, may be he meant it will be installed by an ex-3M staff !!

ha, so you and Unni going to start Bird business.

I think unni stopped going to borders now-a-days, after his new job?

Enjoy the drive and relax with comfort in the back seat of your Fiesta, when unni take the wheel.
(btw- you all are carrying chilled soda?!)

Designated co-driver just saw this post! In Mallu-speak, going "in search of some birds" has other connotations!! Looking forward to the weekend drive and the birds.

Not new job Nair Saab, I dont've the car with me in B'lore now. Last time I drove down to Kerala, about a month back, I had to leave the car there since I had to return the same day evenining. I was ready to drive back, but wife and mom took the keys away (how rude of them!!!)

Yes Nairji, we are checking some alternative income sources within the state. Chilled things are prohibited in the place where we are going, so we will be concentrating only on how many birds we can collect !

Thanks yajaman, I thought of visiting your place and having a look too, just waiting for a free saturday probably in April itself, I dont know if its a wise idea to give it on a saturday as weekends are mostly crowded at accessory places. I can deliver it in the morning, but collecting back in the evening is a problem, only chance is to collect it back next morning, no clue if the stanley guys will agree to that.

I am still checking if there is any other alternatives closer to our place (bangalore north) than going to mission road. Its like entering into a warzone when I think about mission road.
