Re: Review: 2nd-gen Honda Jazz

A question to the experts..
Did 2nd gen Jazz had Exedy Clutch as OEM equipment?
Even if not, is Exedy a good replacement clutch option?
Thanks

Re: Review: 2nd-gen Honda Jazz

Hello,

I had previously mentioned in the thread about noises from suspension and a few more which were unrecognizable for me. Honda ASS never checked the vehicle properly and quoted anything from 40k to 80 for the job. (One SA told me to replace steering rack itself )

Recently got the job done by a local garage in Nasik and am pretty happy with it. Mechanic opened all 4 suspensions, checked thoroughly, checked steering system and suggested to replace few parts of the system.

Bought all parts from a local auto spare supplier. All major parts are Talbros brand products. Hope they are good.
Total spend of spares + synthetic oil, oil filter + air filter = 13.5 k.
Labor charges paid = 4k.

After job car performing quite well. No disturbing noises. Only are the ones coming from internal trims.

Will try to get detailed part list as well. While purchasing spares found out that Old Jazz shares many parts with Civic and City.

Major learning from the job: find a outside garage you can trust and they will do the job just fine. Never found Honda ASS to be techincally sound. I own a City as well and so have a good experience of dealing with Honda ASS in Nasik and Pune.

Re: Review: 2nd-gen Honda Jazz

5 Years - 26000 KMs and still going strong with the 2nd generation Jazz Petrol base variant face lift model in Urban Titanium color as seen below:

Review: 2nd-gen Honda Jazz-jazzy.jpg

Related post here about the face-lift version :

Always wanted to write an Ownership review, guess its too late now.

Anyways, will just list out some significant points and the parts that needed attention during the course of these 5 years.

This had only 3 variants but all variants had every aspect of safety & security features by default. Full marks to Honda for not compromising on quality, and safety standards (Unfortunately, no such thing exists now with current generation of Honda's at least in India which is a shame)
  • Dual front SRS Airbags
  • ABS with Break Assist
  • EBD
  • GCON
  • ECU Immobilizer
  • Front seatbelt pretentioner with load limiter
  • Driver seat belt reminder
  • Driver side auto pinch guard
  • Day/Night Inside rear view mirror
  • Rear wiper and defogger

Detail specifications here : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian...ml#post2425834

Review: 2nd-gen Honda Jazz-jazz10spec.jpg

Other than the regular service, parts that were replaced or needed attention since purchase :
  • 1 Tyre due to side wall impact during 3rd year of ownership (All of the stock tyres including the spare wheel came with Michelin XM1)
  • Air condition gas top-up alone was done during 4th year of ownership to improve the chillness during summer season. Especially useful since Jazz has a LARGE windscreen.
  • Stock SONIC battery was replaced with AMARON Hi Life FLO-42B20L in the month of August 2017 (at 25344 KMs to be precise)
  • Stock wipers changed were replaced after 4 years & 9 months of ownership ie in July 2017. They were still good for another 6 months but decided to replace them as they have lived their life. Details here : http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...ml#post4235384

  • During the initial 3 years and 8 months of ownership Jazz had covered 21908 KMS (City & Highway drive combined) with an average running of ~16.5 KMs per day. Highway drives have always seen 20 km average FE while in the City it used to be between 13-15 kmpl.
  • However since buying the Scross 1.6 around 16 months ago, Jazz managed to do only 4093 KMs (City drive alone) with an average running of ~8.5 KMs per day.

Odo exactly at 5 years

Just when I was thinking how to pamper Jazz for 5 years of blissful ownership, got a very simple and meaningful gift. Yes and that's the much deserved Live To Drive team-bhp sticker.

Review: 2nd-gen Honda Jazz-img7427.jpg

Don't know how many more years I can keep her considering the less running per day, but Jazz will Live Long To Be Driven for many many years to come.

Re: Review: 2nd-gen Honda Jazz

Hello jazzers
I have the second gen Jazz (2009) and my key fob has been giving trouble. The lock button isn't working but the unlock works just fine, even at a distance. The battery is also new. I've also been using a leather key cover off Alibaba for a long time, which has surely prevented dust and moisture from getting into the buttons. (WebLink follows-)

Has anyone had a similar issue, and solved it? Help needed!

Re: Review: 2nd-gen Honda Jazz

After ownership of 8 years and 55000km, with the bulk of it in a harsh state- UP, the car has started to give a lot of annoyances now and then.

My last post was regarding a conked out key fob. Sorted it out with an alcohol swab wipe. Dust goes through a leather cover as well

The new niggles with which I require suggestions from my fellow jazz owners are

-a really stiff shift to 1st and 2nd gear. I have no idea how to open up the console and lube it up with WD-40. Also, is it possible to hoist the car up and grease the mechanism from the underbody?

-shredded gear shift boot/gaiter (the faux leather cover in between the gear knob and center console). Again, this requires a dismantling of the center console and installation of a replacement from aliexpress perhaps. Has anyone done the same?

-The stereo system has a button to scroll through track name-folder name-file name-album name in the CD player mode. Well, it doesn't work anymore and I've been stranded on the option where it just displays the track number. Anyone with similar issues and did you fix it? The clock adjust button has also become useless but with a little cruel pushing, it does work. The other button, NEVER

Help me out, I love the car and want it for up to 1,00,000 Kms. Would be difficult with all these annoying niggles, unless someone can help sort them out!

Thanks

Re: Review: 2nd-gen Honda Jazz

Gentlemen, sharing the following team-bhp classified link for the benefit of everyone. Since my Jazz is sparingly used, have decided to give it off if someone can buy and put it to a regular use. Let me tell you all this, its not easy to find a pre-worshipped Jazz in such a good condition. @Mods, if this post isn't appropriate please feel free to take the required actions.

Re: Review: 2nd-gen Honda Jazz

Update with mixed emotions : On this Valentine’s Day - Jazz (our 1st love) is sold to one of my non-bhpian friend. A small review of our journey with Jazz is updated few posts above and since the car was not being used much we decided to part ways. As a goodwill gesture, got the car washed and put full tank fuel before passing the keys to the new owner. I'm rest assured the new owner will keep the car well maintained and put it to a good use. After 64 months of blissful ownership and being driven only 26655 KMs its time to say goodbye to our beloved Jazz with few parting shots

Have a 2012 Jazz X in the same color. What a brilliant little car it has proved to be in the city. Done about 36k and just replaced the tyres. I hope it would run another 5 trouble free years.

Re: Review: 2nd-gen Honda Jazz

My 2012 model Jazz has done 110k km. It is my daily drive and truly is a small wonder. Does everything you ask from it without a murmur and hardly needs any attention or care. Still feels as good as new. They don't make cars like these anymore.

Re: Review: 2nd-gen Honda Jazz

Have gone through each and every post in this thread and made my mind to buy an used Jazz.

Wanted to sell my Wagon R Vxi 2003 model. clocked 133333 Kms and I am the 5th owner. Wanted to sell Waggy for only one reason. Its 15 years old. Most of my driving is on the highways with family (Chennai - Salem) a 330 kms stretch. I actually didn't find a single issue with my waggy but Road Safety is First.

So while I was reading theses 150+ pages posts about Jazz, I started to look out of buyers for my Waggy. First posted an ad in OLX and got offer for 40 - 50K. Deleted my post.
Went to Cars24 and was offered 45K. Rejected.
Used car Dealers - No one wants a car owned by 5 persons.

Thought of keeping it aside and wanted to look out for JAZZ.

I penned down the expectation:
1. Manufacturing year should be 2010 and above
2. Single Owned car
3. Budget of INR 3,00,000

Searching option:
1. OLX - will get owner's car
2. Used car dealers - No options left

Started Search in OLX Chennai. Got 6 jazz from 2010 till 2013
2010 - 1 Owner - 62000 kms - INR 3,30,000 - Titanium Colour - Dealer Place
2010 - 1 Owner - 67000 kms - INR 2,90,000 - Titanium Colour - Dealer Place(Car was with a dealer in terrible state).
2011 - 3 Owners - 74000 kms - INR 2,90,000 - Blue Colour - Dealer Place
2012 - 1 Owner - 92000 kms - INR 3,30,00 - Ralley Red - Owner

Finalized the Ralley Red Jazz.
All set went and met the owner. Nice Gentleman. He is working with Renault Nissan. A car lover. Fell in love with the car at the first sight. All 5 alloy wheels. Front and rear bumper had deep scratches. the front was more visible.

Took test drive (awesome) and Finalized to INR 3,00,000.

Next Need to Sell my Waggy. while visiting the 2010 - 1 owner - 67000 car at a dealer place I told to that i want to exchange my waggy. He referred a buyer (another dealer). He called me for an appointment and test drove the waggy. finalized deal for INR 69000. paper works completed.

Loan process took 3 days and settlement done. The owner was generous enough to give all 5 stock wheels and wheel caps (mint Condition). He stated he changed the wheels right after his jazz delivery. Insurance is valid till May 2019

Seniors please advise if its a good deal.

Photos to be uploaded soon.

Need to remove the aftermarket fender side indicator (so called Sporty) and fix the stock ones.
The rear had lots of monograms. you can see the left over adhesives after peeling the monograms. The important Jazz monogram is missing. Can someone suggest from where I can get Jazz monogram. I tried in all shops in GP Road - Chennai and couldn't find. I could get it from the dealer but till wanted to try in the market (less expensive).

Could there be any difference in the Bangalore and Chennai used car market?
I couldn't see any 2012 Jazz in Chennai less that INR 3,50,000.

Bangalore prices are slightly higher than Chennai due to higher initial buying price. Looks like car is in good condition. How good tires are?

Agreed Latheesh. I could not find a better deal than this.
Tires are good MRF ZVTS. The front two are good threads and the rear have half thread. Review: 2nd-gen Honda Jazz-imageuploadedbyteambhp1532062061.353851.jpg
