I've this option & actually would have done it 15 days back but am out of town. I'm coming from 2 schools of thought:

1. Not to change it right now - The issue is not severe. The seat goes down by 2-3 notches only & sometimes after 2-3 days. However, sometimes it goes down by 2-3 notches in a single day. My fear is I think still there is no change in design implemented & the new assembly is no different & if I get the new assembly which is worse than my existing, the issue will get worse.

2. To change it - as the issue can become worse if I persist with the existing one.

Your views pls
Amit,
Just go for it. Its covered under warranty, so no worry even something wrong happens. Why to wait? I'm sure the new assembly will be similar to or better than the existing one, so do not swing your decision!
I am also waiting for the visit by the factory guy this Wednesday for my seat problem.

Friends,
Last Thursday evening, I wrote to Mahesh (fiat customer service) and service@fiapl.com about my issues which include the seat coming down issue. Got a reply from Mahesh on Fri afternoon and then call from Tata Motors regional office, Prerana Motors (my dealer) Customer Service Head, and one Service Advisor on Friday evening (all different calls). Pretty impressed with the speed of response. But thats it.
Call again dealer customer service head on Sat Morning, fixed up a appointment for Monday morning 9 AM to pick the car. He said he will personally follow it up.
Had a office meeting on Monday morning at 9:30, postponed the office meeting to 11:30 AM and waited for pickup driver. But no one called and no guy came to pick the car.
I called dealer customer service head and he gave an excuse and promised that he will get the car picked up tomorrow morning. I am not feeling well but still decided to go with the car tomorrow morning as it is going to workshop for the first time. Don;t want to take a risk with it.

Ok, one more news to share, dealer customer service head told me that he will solve all the issues except the seat issue because FIAT is shifting its parts supply(not sure from where) to Tata Motors, Pune to streamline the part supply and for 15-20 days, there will not be any part supply. So this will take time.

This is all crap. All the while they had the parts shop in ranjangaon. And they will talk as if they are shifting spareparts production from turin to ranjangaon. dont give way for all the crap

An update:

Spoke to Fiat Corp Quality person on Seat Height Assmbly change that he proposed when he met me 2 months back.

Now he says that they have checked almost 7-8 cars with the issue & found that it arises only because of thigh touching lever making it go down. When I said I particularly observed it & took care of not touching lever at all & still it goes down, he says while he respect my observation but they have tried 1-2 cars from morning to evening & have not found the issue if lever is untouched. He proposed to do a solution which they've found out - lowering the lever by few inches & said he'll confirm the plan of action in 1st week of Aug

Neo - is this what they've done in your car?

This is exactly what they have done in my car

The new lever is at a lower angle and doesn't seem to be touching my thigh
I haven't been driving my Linea for past 2 days. Will get back to her from tomorrow and let you guys know the resukts by this weekend

Thanks Neo. Is the lever same or they've changed the design of the Lever ? Pls post pics of new position & also old position (if you had taken the pic then)

Got hands on my car after more than 15 days & was very happy & eager to take her out. Noticed 2 things:

While coming out of car, I did it in slow motion with every movement checked. When I placed my right foot out on the road & shifts weight outward, voila thigh touches the lever, just a bit. Shall check it the Ingress as well & for next 2 days.

Another thing noticed is that the ORVM electric motor adjustment switch from Inside - the horizontal movement is not working. It worked for first couple of strokes today & now not moving. Have not run the car more than 2 kms today & last 15 days she was untouched. Will check tom again after running it sufficiently more.

Neo, 1 more thing

I forgot the thread but somewhere you mentioned that ACC remembers recirculation mode when using the OFF switch of ACC.

Well I checked again in my Linea. None of the position it remembers recirculation mode. I tried following combinations:
  • Turning off - used OFF switch, then while turning ON - used OFF switch again
  • Turning off - used OFF switch, then while turning ON - used main AC's Auto button
Both times it did not remember recirculation mode. Is there any other combination you are trying

the AC first & by using OFF button & then also by main Auto button.

Yeah. Like I've been saying all-through. For me the lever touches every-single-time I put my foot out of car.
I was so used to hearing a click when coming out of my car everyday that today morning it felt weird that i din't hear the click (with the new lever)!

One more thing about the lever. We always joke about it breaking off someday (looking at the plastic).
You will be pleasantly surprised to know that the main part underneath this plastic is so sturdy there's no way it can break. (heavy guage metal almost weighing 1kg)
I will post pics in my thread when I get home.

My observations is that you cannot manually switch on Recirculation when in Fully ACC. The moment you press recirculation button the Full ACC mode changes to Auto.

vp, sachin.

yes, recirculation mode has to be set manually always.

But the air direction (chest/face) need not be set manually if you use the OFF button to switch the ACC ON. (It remembers the previous setting)
Hope I am clear. I am crosssposting that info again.

Need to be done only once:
a) Press the "AUTO" first, display will say FULLAUTO.
b) Set the temperature by turning the knob
c) Set the AC to be at chest/face level (->)
d) Set the recirculate ON

From next time you start the car, you just have
to press the OFF button.
It will remember all previous settings, only (d) above needs to be done

Hey, Neo - I thought you mentioned (c) & (d) being remembered in that post, hence I got confused & tried again to check.

BTW, pls post pics of seat height lever position changes

Just Press ACC and Recircualtion ON.That's all.it goes to semi automatic.
Rest will be handled by the Automatic(Semi)AC.
No need to press Chest/Knee/Head level buttons.
Try these and let me know.
I have been doing the same since from my delivery and i am advised to do so by an expert.

Aghh? VP, the only alternative now is to get a big FIAT red sticker and stick it on that gap now. You cant go about buying an expensive badge again and again.

Anymore suggestion guys? Or tell some kids you know to design some smileys for that hole
At this pace of thieves, someday we will come and car wont start and voila engine stolen, ORVS, beadings, Badges, car name badges, what else is left.
