The Azure Grey looks great for the Swift, especially the rear end as it matches very well with the Red Tail Lamps and Fog Lamp.My Beast is a Bright Red one, and the rear end is the most unnoticed part, as the Tail Lamps are of the body colour

Get her home soon!!!
The colour choice was a matter of elimination rather than selection, but I agree - the grey does look nice, Thanks!

And can you please clarify whether the waiting period you mentioned, is it for the VDi with ABS or for all the Swifts(LDi and non ABS VDi)
Thanks
Thank you. The waiting period was for VDi with ABS. The latest that I heard from the dealer is that LDi and VDi are now up to about 3 months and VDi with ABS is being quoted as 6 months to prospective customers . This is in Pune and may be different in other cities.

Did try to follow the PDI, but at the end of it,I was getting really impatient - not only did I want the car but was being bugged by the people from work all the time. It was a rushed affair but at the end of it I managed to check the basics and did a thorough inspection on Satruday morning. (I took delivery on Friday night). Everything A-OK.

I have no idea which one of the many boxes under the hood you are referring to, but if they did change it, I hope they did a good job :-) .

Thanks!! Am quite happy with the colour too. I saw a white and a silver VDi waiting to be delivered on the same day at the delership and was really impressed at how classy they looked - for a moment I was even contemplating whether I made the right colour choice, but then the Grey arrived and I realized that it wasn't the colour that made the car look great, on the contrary, the car' lines/design makes all colours look great on it cheers: .

Thanks, it wasn't the exitement, I was actually really tired and dozed off a couple of times while posting that. It's been 2 days and I have managed to clock up 530 Kms on the car already!!

Operation "running in" is progressing quite well before the Goa run.

A few better quality pics (as promised) are given below.

(Compensating for the smiley fiasco by posting only one smiley in this post :-D )

I had tanked the car up as soon as I got delivery (on normal BP diesel) and reset trip meter 'A' at that time,I'm guessing that the E to F mark in the Swift takes about 40L (considering that the needle goes a little below E before drying up). Essentially, that calculates to an approx mileage of 20!!! Will be tanking up again soon, so will get a more accuarate figure then.

The head is a JVC KD-G656 (USB and Aux-In) ,got it with a 2 year Warranty for 7200 bucks. Didn't want to mess with wires so got four 6-inch speakers installed in all the doors (all 4 are JBL GTO-637, Rs. 6800 for 2 sets with a one year warranty)

My Black Beauty is exactly 1 month old today.
Took her for the first service on last Saturday with 1075 kms on the odo. Was told by the workshop supervisor that Maruti has send in a recent notice advising them not to change the engine oil for LDI/VDI during the 1st service. The engine oil will be changed along with the oil filter only during the second service. Can anyone confirm as what are other MASS saying about this in other cities?

First off, apologies to all for the long period of absence from the forum. Was busy clocking up the miles (or Kilometres, if you please)

Thank you. Also, w.r.t. your next post, I completed 5 days with my DDiS beast and clocked up 800 Kms (Was in a rush to finish the running in before my Goa trip, which starts tomorrow night). Would have preferred to finish off 1000 with a drive to Mumbai, but had to cut the trip short due to the crazy sh** that happened there yesterday night. Turned back from halfway there after a couple of friends called up and told me to come back. I took it to the service station today afternoon for the first service and the service advisor told me that oil change is very much a part of the first service (I would have anyway forced him to change the oil coz I too am a believer in changing oil on every service). The total cost was Rs. 1194/- (Oil, Oil additive and 27 bucks for consumables). The additive was as expensive as the oil! Can someone tell me if I've been ripped off?

BTW, the most amazing part - calculated the fuel efficiency for the first time. The figures are given below: (Used F to F method of calculating)

Fuel Consumed: 29.13 Ltrs (BP normal diesel)
KM covered: 517

FE = 17.75!!
(60% Highway at speeds between 80 and 100, and 40% city - 100% AC on)

Tanked up on BP Hi-Speed Diesel this time at the same pump (Normal wasn't available at 1 am when I got it tanked up, they only operate a limited number of pumps round the clock). It was the sweetest 1200 bucks I paid for a tankful (and 517 Kms)

I'm loving my beast. Looking forward to flooring her on the way to Goa as soon as I cross the 1000 mark (just a mental block - 1st service is done, so I can technically start ripping already).

Other Notable Points
Rattling
- Not yet!! :-D not a single rattle in her yet. (All cross-able items including fingers crossed and touch-wood)

1st Service - Reported that my front, driver's door is not closing with a solid feel (Sometimes it makes a very clunky, sheet metal flexing kind of sound when it closes). I don't know what they did, but it now closes with a nice, solid thud. (The service adviser said he'll ask the service guy to check the rubber beading and maybe add some damping, but whatever he did, it worked). Very happy with the overall experience, efficient and effective! Hooray Maruti A.S.S. (for now at least).

Goa Trip Done. 2000 Kms Covered in 9 days.

Well guys, I have completed 2000 Kms in my car and have put an outstanding trip to Goa under my belt (literally, have piled on the pounds with lots of beer and great food). The car is fantastic on the highway and I can say that I am extremely happy with the purchase. The F.E. has remained steadily at 17-18 Kmpl (with bouts of "spirited" driving, in the ghats and off it). I shall be shifting to the long term ownership section of the forum as soon as I get down to documenting my ride to Goa. For now, enjoy the pics taken on the Golden Quadrilateral and on the Amboli Ghat.
