That's a fab car you have there, Tom! The alloys look the best, but I think you may have a tough time in keeping them clean!

I would like to answer some quesries here.

The LENSOs are 100 PCDs. My search for 98 PCD wheels ended up in vain.

The wheels + tyres - buyback = ~28k

The plates are quite common in Bangalore and Cochin these days. I told the guy to make me a pair of "IND" number plates, and he got it done. It will cost u easily 900 bucks. Usually they (showroom guys) drill the front bumper and fix the plates there. I asked them not to fix the normal plates. It is just a double sided sticker holding it on the side.

I am getting only 13-14 KMPL in city with AC. That is not because of the 14" wheels. I hope it will get improved after 1st or second service.

Cheers,
Tom
how 100PCD wheel were fixed ? is there any modification required ?

rudrah, great information on the license plates bit. I wonder when they will get compulsory all over the country or atleast the metro, but they should soon. If not for anything else, they make perfect aesthetic sense

I have not done any modifications. It s a direct fit. If we face any problem, we can get some wobbly bolts (which converts 100PCD wheels to 98PCD) from UK. I am working on it, in fact.

@Rudrah.
Thanks for the gyan dude. I didnt know that.

Looks very clean n neat Tom. Congrats on the purchase.

Those interiors are so elegant and clean. Nice choice of alloys too.

I see that white is becoming a hot favorite with the crowd now. Take care of those alloys. White alloys are a tad difficult to maintain.

Drive safe.

Thanks! No worries mate, we will compare both the machines.

We will meet sometime in next week and have a head-on comparison between these two. How about arranging a Swift DDIS as well???

Edit: Forgot tell you one thing. No performance comparison. Getz is a class apart. :-(

Yes we will compare both machines.
Will definitely meet you. I would love to see Swift DDIS, Palio MJD and Getz CRDi racing.

I want to see how Palio rides and handles because i have never driven a palio. I can see many Palio MJD's on bangalore roads. I am sure Fiat will have good time ahead.

Again many congratulations for the white beauty

Excellent Choice!!!! I am on the verge of deciding on an MJD myself and your pix have made its case stronger!

about the alloys and tyres, did the dealer sell them or did you buy it outside? which is a better option? what brands of alloys do the dealers stock?

the spoiler from 1.6 would also add more zing to the profile of the car!

about spoilers, in my mind I always imagine the palio fitted with the big rear spoilers that Chevy SRV's are fitted with as an option - you know, the curvy one that fit below the rear window. I think the Palio would rock with that spoiler! Is it possible to buy and fit the SRV's spoiler to the Palio? or is it possible to get such a spoiler from the market?

I was planning to buy a hot diesel hatch and shortlisted Getz CRDI, Indica Turbo/Dicor, Swift D and Palio D.

Booked Getz CRDI from Advait and later cancelled when I realised that ICEing & ALLOYing will leave a huge hole in my wallet. In fact Getz was my first preference.

Then the choices came down to the last three. Indica too a nice car, but my brother and 2 of my friends drive the same (Turbo). Finally, the battle was between Swift and Palio. Then these questions came into my mind..
1. Why should I spend ~25k more than Palio SDX?
2. Why should I compromise on the rear seat leg room and build quality?
3. Why should I wait for an insane 4 months after making the payment?

Went thru numerous threads/posts in t-bhp, consulted many of my friends, and finally booked a Carbon Black Palio MJD SDX on 26th May from Prerana motors, Bangalore.

More updates later.
Hey Tomrider ,

Fabulous car. Looks great . I too was shocked after seeing the interiors in flesh . They look quite as good as Fiesta and damn well looks hell of a lot better than swift. And the exterior is just too neat. Nothing sticks out disproportionately , nothing looks like a cheap gimmic
I am shocked that so called experts in auto mags are calling palio looks dated... Looks stunning brother....
And the new grill looks absolute 'classic Euro' to me.
I believe the car looks as good and as well proportioned as anything on indian roads.
Congrats!

Awesome!! The car looks great in white.

Great choice of alloys. Clean it frequently to maintain the beauty.

Waiting for the initial review. Great choice!!

^^ Thanks guys.

Checked the mileage again after driving for another 400kms. It returned 12.5 kmpl with 100% AC in Bangalore city traffic. I am loving everything about the car; but the mileage is not impressive, though.
