Booked my Toyota Innova G1 today (EDIT: Taken delivery now, Pics on page 2)

Team,

After planning this for almost 3 months, i booked my Toyota Innova G1 8 seater, Champagne Mica Metallic color today at Ravindu Toyota.

The 3 month time taken was basically to try if my company was willing to give the car under lease option. If this worked out, i could have saved on some income tax. But after much discussions, it was finally informed to me that the company was not willing to take the car in its books. Lease from financial institutions like GE Money etc was also ruled out because the G1 8 seater could not be registered under a company's name as per RTO rules! I had the option of 7 seater, but I did not feel comfortable with this. But my company was considerate enough to increase my salary to the tune of tax i would have saved on the EMI of the car under the lease option.

Last week, i decided to buy on my own, and approaced Indian Bank where i have my home loan. The rate they offer is 11.75% per annum with a EMI of Rs.2211 per lac. Submitted the application last Saturday to the bank and the Branch Manager confirmed yesterday that i can go ahead and book the vehicle. The loan documentation will be done tomorrow and the loan will be disbursed by the bank on Sunday, 29th June 2008 (it is a Sunday working branch). I have planned to take delivery of the vehicle on Monday, 30th June 2008.

I am planning for the following accessories

Sunfilm - Dealer says will cost Rs.3500
Stereo - Sony XPLOD, MP3 & Radio with USB port - Rs.7990
Body stripes - Rs.4500
Autocop - Rs.5000 (basic model - auto locking & alarm if someone tries to forcibly open doors)
Parking sensor - Rs.4500 (4 sensors with distance display)

Request team BHP members to give their valuable suggestion on the price of accessories.

Congrats!! Is a new Innova launch planned soon?

What about speakers? I will let the audio gurus help you with the ICE but I know that Sony HUs are not good. Also, don't get the accessories done from the dealer.

Congrats on this, its awasome vehicle! I suggest think about G4 If you 3rd row seats are used because in G1 AC won't reach last row. Accessories cost seems reasonable, you can try out other place or dealer itself make sure you get what you ask for.

Regards,

Ravi.

good choice.

if your not an audio buff only changing the head unit should be acceptable since the stock speakers that come with the car are just ok.

check what sunfilm they are giving you. shouldnt be some cheap brand.

why do you want stripes? itll worsen the looks of the car.

you dont need autocop. i think even the g1 comes with an immobiliser. that should be sufficient.

parking sensor is very much needed and useful.

also ask for bridgestone tires.

Congrats on the new vehicle, the loan rate is good. About the accessories, are you getting it from the dealer, since the prices look a little steep to me. But maybe those are the prevailing rates in your city. Can you verify the rates from any outside shops. That way you will know the real price.

I agree..rather than Sony..think of Alpine, Blaupunkt etc.. even their basic models are far superior to other makes, same goes for speakers.. there are many posts here where you will find whole lot of info..however to simplify..stick to JBL speakers..which are now available everywhere

thanks

Congrats on your finalizing the Innova. Hope you have correctly evaluated all your equirements and is booking this vehicle (as MUV and not a sedan). The interest part is good. But EMI/Lac is a little high. Try with other banks like ICICI or other nationalized banks wherein you may get a better rate. BTW, what is the discount and freebies you have got? AFAIK, there is a lot of discount being given on toyota vehicles right now...

congrats prabhu. what is the on road price quoted by the dealer and which dealer r u dealing with??? ravindu or nandi??. dont go for sony head unit. For that price you get good alpine or pioneer head units. Autocop is good addition. discounts offered are good. dont forget PDI. have you booked the vehicle??? if so when is the delivery??
