Ford Fusion 1.6 Petrol - Review

After much comparisons, test drives and a lot of advise, I purchased the the Ford Fusion petrol on March 02, 08. The vehicle has clocked in 400 kms till date and I love the machine.

I tried uploading some pics without succes hence I would do it on the weekend.

It is a Mystic Wine and the dealer says that this the first one of that colour from that showroom. As I took the delivery of the vehicle I could not help notice the muscular front appearance of the car.

I got the ICE done from the showroom itself, put in a Sony with the speakers from FORD, they are a decent set (4) of speakers and I was pleasantly surprised by the music clarity and the output.

I took the delivery from Mathura Road and have to drive to Gurgaon which is a good 55 kms.At the time of the delivery did not get the Mud Flaps and the Anti theft alarm system was not available so I had to drive with out the accesories. Got the tank full and put on the AC and drove on the Gurgaon Highway. The drive was really nice but as I put the windows down to pay the toll and tried to put the power windows up, there was a sound and the window got stuck - problem with the motor I guess. I called up the RSA and the delership and could not do much as it was late in the night and all advised me to be in the showroom the next day. I was waiting for the night to get over and as soon as it was 10 am I rushed over to the delearship to complain about the same. They promptly took the vehicle to the workshop and changed the entire motor. (I liked the customer services where in all came over and assured that it is a one of case).

I do 80 km everyday to CP from Gurgaon and back. Will be back after 500 kms and the pics.......

Congrats . Heard its very stable at high speeds. Dont want to say anything about its engine! We all know how good it is.

Which model is yours? I mean got ABS/Airbags?

Fusion petrol has only one model now & that too without ABS. Airbags - were they ever part of fusion in India.

Vipul - Hope you have opted for TMP during purchase. If not, please consider TMP at the earliest.

Congrats on your purchase & am sure that you will keep on enjoying this vehicle.

congrats on the fusion petrol ! its a superb vehicle and you will definitely enjoy it. i have driven the older model petrol quite a bit and its a hoot to drive !! i have a diesel version (diamond white) and just completed the second service. i am extremely happy with the vehicle. the mystic wine red colour is quite common here in Bangalore though...seen quite a few of them. i think the only downside to the wine red colour is maintenance...tends to look older faster if not maintained. take good care of her happy motoring !!

Hey NIP, you are referring to the Paprika Red which is quite common. What Vipul has bought is mystic wine, certainly a rare color among Fusion cars.

Vipul, Ford on their website have offered a March Masti special give-aways. I suppose they are currently offering a MP3 player with the Fusion. I hope you have not missed out!

Off-topic, Ford have already made the excise duty cut on their Fusion diesel price. It's now close to 15K cheaper I think. Add a free mp3 player to it, diesel certainly looks a decent bet for those who travel more than 600 kms a month.

Hi jkdas

There are only two versions available in the Fusion - 1.4 Diesel or 1.6 Petrol as of now. I would have loved ABS and Airbags as an option on the Fusion. That would have been a complete car........

Srini
HI Srini / NIP

I have got the MP3 player but they were offering a Kenwood system. I paid 4K more and got myself a Sony from them. The Ford speakers are good with the output and the sound quality.

NIP I have been following your post since a long time. It is a research work of 3 months that I finally purchased the Fusion. The first tank full gave me an average of 12 kmpl. It has clocked 550 in a week. I am trying to post some pics to show the colour. It is cross between a black and a purple

Nice car you got yourself. It's a pity, it did not click here. But that has its benefits too - you can take pride in driving a unique car as there won't be many on the roads.

That is like 2500km a month - you should have taken a diesel. Either the Fusion-D or the Fiesta TDCi.

Seating comfort

Hi Vip,

I have not seen one of these close up. What kind of seating does it have? Do you kind of lay out in it or sit up? I am wondering if it would hold a big guy like me.
