I got my V-Kool (92% IR and 99%UV) for 20k + 1k for the sunroof to be done in 94% clear, we have it in all our cars, and is well worth the money spent/saved, no curtains on the windows on long drives.. also I can keep the sun-roof-cover open during the day so the car gets more light in.

naikpranav: Ah, Sir. Tis money well spent. Everybody has only paens for V-Kool and it would be my choice were I to come into some money. Have you done any more trips? We'd love some of your marvellous pics -and a story- if you did.

Sorry Sir, haven't got too much time off to write a good 10000 km review as you mentioned earlier, (the odo's now reading 13700), Architects get busy scrambling up petty drawings for clients in times of recession and war, I have been spending time with the car, but just enough for the occasional weekend outing and site visits, I hope to spend some quality time with it this weekend polishing it, maybe then ill get some pictures too !

The weather doesn't seem to provide any respite, its 37 degrees on my computer and 39 outside my car in the evenings, I have been planning a drive out of town with some friends in the car with a bottle of chilled aigua (A crazy spanish drink) a campfire and fire-roasted dinner.

In updates:
The side-mirrors of the car as I have discovered yesterday can be used as weapons-of-Minor-destruction because they are made of steel and can pulverise the mirrors of indicas, swift', i10s and other lesser four-wheelers. however with great power comes great responsibility, so use them carefully.

Some godmen didnt like my car parked near a temple opposite office and they broke my numberplate.

I promise new pictures when I go out next, planning a trip, Mumbai-ahmedabad-jaipur-delhi-chandigarh-manali-leh-ladakh-kashmir-punjab-ranikhet-agra-gwalior-nasik-mumbai. Needs some planning and places might be added. however, only in may-june, before I go to America and drive Arizona-Wisconsin.

naikpranav: WOW, your 'non' article (or meta article as our IT brethren would have put it) reads as intriguing as anyone else's full-fledged article.

I got specific points to respond to:
I have an architect friend who's looking for outsourced projects. Any help welcome.

Your clock reads 13,xxx already- it's little wonder considering the sort of drives you've listed further down which seem to cover all the dots on the North Indian map! Brilliant. That's what a lovely carriage like the Fabia was designed for. You're doing her great justice.

The 'aigua' sounds like the goods. I'm jealous (I too fancy rare, full-of-character neck oil from exotic places. Till they show up on radar, I get by with a dram or two of our very own sexy Cashew Feni- even once tried Pomegranate Feni.). Enjoy.

Side mirrors: got it.
Godmen & number plates: but why? They must have a lot of time on their hands to indulge in such dastardly acts to inanimate objects, and should ideally focus on chants and incense. I'll tell them if they're listening. Perhaps the vaastu wasn't right in their numerology books?

Take care, Sir.

Seems the temperature is soaring in the forum that everyone is suddenly into tints. The price of V-Kool surely is scaring me, but hats off to you guys who've put in nothing but the best for your cars. Meanwhile, i took my baby for a casual checkup since it's 3300Km in the odo now. They plugged in some wires and started taking a report called VSI Report. Since i didn't want to miss a film which we had reserved tickets for, we went for the show and hence, couldn't have a glimpse at how the service guys go around checking.

When i went to take back my car at evening, the service guys told me that the octane in petrol is low and they had mixed some "octane booster" available with them and this, they said, would help in improving the mileage and overall smoothness. They told me to use the octane booster whenever i fill up petrol. 1 litre can costs around R. 420 and since, it was out of stock, I've ordered 1 can which I would geting in about 2 weeks time. Has any users used the same? The main reason they said for recommending octane booster was that the quality of petrol which's available here is not suitable (This has been discussed many times in various thread) and suggested that I should use the 'Speed' by BPCL since this is recommended by Skoda for its petrol engines in India. This is funny considering that i've been using 'Speed' alone since i got my baby

people seems to be going places. why do you want to wait till next tear pranav? hope you make sure that you spend more time at the waterlogged wisconsin than in the arid arizona. but speaking in terms of photography, arizona would keep ur clicking finger engaged more, but please don't miss out the Harley's factory in WI

Hey Good to see that this thread is going strong, lots have been said discussed here and I completely missed it. Had a long hectic business tour. It's nice to see some new member's becoming part of the fabia family.
I see lots been discussed about the sunfilm. I got Lumar film done, it costed some 10500 which includes all windows, front windscreen too and sunroof, with no charge for the sun roof. Don't remember exactly but it's Air75 on the front and sunroof and the rest one from the higher range series (dont remember the series)
Now, how do I compare it with V-kool. Well my couz got it done on his laura Vkool films costed him some 25K. Having experienced that cant say there is barely any difference found in controling the heat. I suppose Lumar is well worth the price you for it. My car stays cool in burning mid noon heat where just have to keep the AC blower on 1 speed and car still stays cool. Even when parked under the sun the car barely heats up, and find my stanley leather seats stays cool, never found it to be heated up.
Thought of going VKOOL too but now I guess I know I made the right choice.

As for my ride, well she's done 16000kms so far, nearing the 2nd service due. The car is doing great, just the some noise from the dashboard and from the right suspension (not sure of that) is dissapointing me everytime I drive. Well get it fixed during my 2nd service. Apart from that no other issues, she drives great, pick is getting better, also soon will be getting her the coustimzed air-intake system.
Will put in the detail review of it and drive uptill 16000kms soon. Don't think anyone here has crossed that mark in the Fabi.

Pranav: That's is a great plan of drive. That is drive I am looking for doing since last 3 years but never really able to get that time out. Would love to know how you go planning the route and days it takes. Way to go my friend.

Cheers!

I bought the Fabia for the long drives all over the place, Thinking of a 4x4 SUV next, hoping a german one comes along that I can actually afford ! a Mumbai-Istanbul drive is in the pipeline.

Speaking of vandalism, some of those godmen's friends took off with my rear "Skoda" badge on friday, just when i was planning a wash and polish on sunday ! Thinking of a security system on the lines of some south africans, with huge electric shocks.

If anyone has expierienced this or has a solution, please inform me, if I get another badge someone can take it again, I need to do something. For the time being, ill be keeping an eye out near office and the owner of any other vehicle with that badge on it is not safe, I can see that putting mercedes logos and BMW signs on motorbikes is in vogue.

I've got quite some work till May atleast, so sadly I can't make any long trips till then, however short trips like Mumbai-Hyderabad will happen and I make every outstation site visit into a vacation, so pray for me getting outstation projects, I will post pictures when i get back, or will atleast write about the car along the way. Will definitely visit the Harley factory in WI, I'll be in both places for 6 months, so i'll have quite some time to shoot everything.

I generally plan my route well in advance and put it in a wishlist in my mind, there are atleast 4 routes of varying distances at any given time, so whenever I see a chance, I start a week in advance and plan it with maps, I always know what i am going to see there, so that leaves me with where to eat and stay, which, in this country also needs to be planned in advance. Advantage Fabia : I can leave two hours later than my planned time and still reach on time, I can also take huge detours for going on roads which I haven't driven on or to see places I haven't seen and still keep by my schedule, on the highway's its unbeatable ! also I can drive for longer hours and greater distances continously, (last I did was 750km in 12 hours, with just 1 break for dinner)

Mysticeyes:
The Pirahana security was installed by Autocop, but billing was done by Autograph cars, so as to protect the warranty clause of the car.

Netchef:
The make of tyres is Goodyear Assurance. Orignal size was retained.

I have done the interiors of Fabia 1.2 Classic in Biege. The mod was done by Autograph cars (Dealer of Skoda). Artificial leather is done by a local car dealer in Andheri, Mumbai. Posting some pictures of the cars. Resolution is not high as snaps were taken by Mobile phone.

Hi,
Can you tell me how did you managed Beige interiors in classic model as classic modle comes with black interiors only? Especially how can you change the interior's plastic???

a nice white angel with beautiful interiors and seats. the conversion work is absolutely stunning amplyfryed. Now, get a set of alloys and the angel would turn into a vampire

dear pranav, it's really annoying when some fools rips off the badge. I thought it was a habit in south india only..sometimes, some brilliant people wud rip off particular alphabet/s of the badge. Have you enquired with the dealer about obtaining a new badge? keeping my fingers crossed on what reply they would give u:

1. sorry sir, the badge has to be shipped in from Czech
2. yes sir, we've the badge with us and it can be yours for just Rs. 5500

amplyfryed: Your cars looks brilliant and the pics are wonderful as well. I applaud the aesthetic choices you've made. IMO they work to enhance the effect of that ski-slope white. Great going, Sir.

Speed sounds like the best option. Try another source to rule out adulteration.

white_vdi: IMHO alloys are overkill and a waste of money. Many succumb to the hype and marketing and few know that more than 80% of cars in Europe run on pressed steel wheels. Steel is far stronger, and I think the advantage of saved weight etc and its ramifications to fuel consumption/handling is only slight, and not enough to justify the cash outlay. Good tyres can make a huge difference, however. I'd recommend a lower profile and fatter section. Naturally, if he- or anyone else - is going overboard on tyre spec, there's little option but to change the rims, and often then steel ceases to be viable simply because the after market doesn't bother making them in non standard configs. Also, if one is going to replace OEM steel rims with after market STEEL rims -and they're heavier- that really becomes counter-productive. The car manufacturer has already factored many parameters around the weight (and size) of steel rims they've supplied with the car- going larger/bigger/heavier with steel does not make sense. Do I make sense?

Hi guys,

I faced an another problem in my 4.5 months old baby.
The fan speed of its blower had reduced tremendously. Infact, if i put my car in reverse gear, suddenly i can hear an increase noise in the motor speed but still the fan speed is the same.
I showed it to the dealer who scanned the car and found its Air Filter has been clogged. I was quite shocked as my running is mostly on very good roads, with windows up. The car is always kept under cover when its in my garage.
Anyhow after cleaning the Air Filter everything seems fine now.
I wonder if anyone else also faced the same problem.
Thks

uneet: Someone else had a similar problem but yours does sound more intense. I guess we all need to watch for this now it's been flagged. Any chance that it could have been caused by leaves etc?
