Superb sense of humour, Steer. I wont try to guess which car that is.

Am planning to exchange my mom's 800 with the Spark. The LS version (AC, PS and front 2 PW) comes to 3.4 on road with the recent price cut. Is the scraping of speed breakers a major negative point?

I checked up the Spark LT yesterday in Delhi... I felt very good abt its ride and Built Quality. Just felt that the AC could be better. The On Road Cost for Spark LT is 3.45 Lacs(After 51K Discount and 7 K Corporate Discount). I later test drived Sandro GLS and Wagon R VXI. Spark felt much better than the other 2. It has lot of Features than Sandro and Wagon R.

3.45? Here I am quoted 3.77 for LT. Are you sure it is LT and not LS that you got the quote for?

The exshowroom prices in Delhi and Chennai seem the same as per the website.

Hi All,

Read all the posts of this thread regarding Spark. I too own a Spark. Just like Klever, I also bought the same in Nov 2007 from Talera motors, Pune. Driving is really a pleasure in Spark. But my problem is with FE. It is giving consistenly 10.5 kmpl right from day one (Driver +1, Non-AC, city). I am not happy with that. After oil and filter change also, the mileage is not imprved.

So far it has run 1600 kms. I gave my vehicle for mileage check up at the service station and I am expecting a report from them(already delayed by a week). Also, they said they have re-programmed the ECU.

I don't know what details they will provide in the report. I need any suggestions or advice from the senior members...

Do you drive mostly in bumper-to-bumper city traffic?

I have alto and I get 11 - 12 kmpl in City (with 100%AC). Traffic is real bad between my home and office. On highways I get 20 kmpl (Checked from Warje in Pune to Just after end of Expressway).

What I am trying to say is, for a 1000 cc engine 10.5 kmpl might not be bad in city.

Others who drive Spark in Metros, what kind of average do you get?

It is not bumper to bumper driving. But in your case, it is understandable, because it is running with AC. I am not so sure, why the FE should be this much low? Let me wait for the report......

My wife bought this car for her parents. Really nice and fun to drive. I was using it for almost two months. A/C is really pathetic, no chilling at all. I found the same problem in the test drive Optra Magnum diesel. On the contrary, Palio MJD would give immediate chilling even in scorching heat.

It is not bumper to bumper traffic. In your case, it is understandable. It is running with AC all the time. Mine is different. No AC at all. Still the FE is very low. Let me wait for the report......

if it is really 1600kms, then it is only 200kms per month and an avearge of about 7 kms per day.

Small distance town runs are the most fuel consuming from my personal experience.

How do you check the mileage?

I agree this could be the single most reason for such low mileage. Why don't you use the car a bit more often and see if the FE improves?

Some questions:

- How have you measured the FE ?
- Have you filled in from different pumps or the same one ?
- Tried any COCO outlet ?
- What gears and what speed do you generally drive in ? If your car has a tacho, whats your general RPM range ?

Try going for a long drive and chk highway FE. If that is also pretty low compared to others then there could be a problem.

Thanks every one!

Yes the running is low.....i should try driving longer distances....My method of mileage checking:
There is one low-fuel indicator lamp in the vehicle. It glows when the fuel is at a lower level ( say 4 litres remaining in tank)...To check mileage i will petrol only when the lamp glows and the petrol filling station is very near by......i will put say 5 or 10 litres.......i will check the kilometres run tillthe lamp glows for the next time......and divide the kms run by the number of litres....i am assuming that the fuel indicator is working fine...Am i wrong somewhere? Pls clarify....

I fill petrol generally at two places......one in my company and one in the near by HP petrol station....in conjusted areas i will drive in 2nd gear and in highways (especially mumbai pune higway, though it is called highway, it is equivalent to busy city road) will drive in 3rd or 4th gear....unfortunately there is no tachometer in the vehicle.

i saw one of our friend in our forum saying that he is getting 11 km/ litre in the Mumbai city...Is it not too low for a vehicle in that class? i have heard people saying Wagon R giving 15 kms/ litre.......I have also heard people saying Maruti 800 ( second hand) giving 20 -22 kms / litres.......I do not how true these things are........
