I felt this too, the brake pedal started biting only at the end and the bite felt weak. I didn’t get confidence even after 5kms in traffic, started maintaining distance to be safe. How does it perform under hard braking?
I have done hard braking a few times. It was stable and felt under control. I will check if I have any video. Will share if I find one.

Re: Force Gurkha 5 Door Review | Ownership report of Cosmos

Amazing review! Gurkha has been my childhood favourite but I could never muster the courage to buy it. May be when I plan to retire, and I am still alive, will get it. Hopefully, by then it'll also have an AT tranny.

Re: Force Gurkha 5 Door Review | Ownership report of Cosmos

"Life is a scenic route, and we have got the best seats." My son and our pet cat Cosmos. Infact he named our Gurkha Cosmos.

First photo is on Vande Bharat. Second is on last row of our Gurkha. Not a fair comparison, but just for perspective. Each seat on Gurkha gives a great uninterrupted view.

I am afraid diesel engine powered cars would soon be out of our reach. To be taken over by EVs.

Nice review! In my opinion, Gurkha is probably one of the most capable Indian car. By the way, how has your experience been with Force’s after-sales service? I’ve heard from many people that it’s not very satisfying, and that’s probably one of the reasons it’s not the preferred choice for most buyers. What are your thoughts on that?

Thanks Vedant. Indeed its one of the most capable Indian cars.

I also had heard of negative experiences, and I was actually prepared for it. But my experience so far has been positive enough to prove all of that is nothing more than hearsay. Let me cite a few instances when Force provided the required support on time.
1. I was going to start a long trip and discovered issue with diff lock indication. It was around 1800 hrs and service centre was getting closed. I called up service manager at Poomkudy Force in Kochi. They asked me to come. They worked late to rectify my issue.
2. One more time while on Kochi-Ranchi trip, I observed coolant leak before starting day 2 at Bengaluru. I called up Khivraj Force. In spite of being jampacked on that day, they entertained my case on priority and rectified the issue. One hose clamp was retightened.
3. Last month, while I was joining traffic at a busy intersection in Kochi, one reckless autorickshaw banged my front bumper from right side and damaged it. Will put details in other post. So entire bumper had to be changed. They didn't have ready stock so service center placed order for it which was promptly dispatched. The logistics company made some goof-up and some spare parts box was misplaced. Due to that I sensed delays in repair job. I escalated the issue with FM. I could see the logistics company wake up from sleep and reroute the misplaced spares.
4. For a car which you use for offroad and long interstate tours, service support at different locations is very important. I have experienced how Force extended that support to me at a remote location close to Vijayawada.

There are few more examples. All in all, my experience so far with after-sales support has met my expectations. Sometimes exceeded too.

The other day, got a call from my sales person that their regional sales Manager is in town and would like to meet me. They came to my office, interacted with me and took my feedback.
That shows they are putting in efforts to connect with the customers.

Re: Force Gurkha 5 Door Review | Ownership report of Cosmos

Finally!! A great review of the great 5 door Gurkha. Was looking forward to it for a long time and it's finally here. I drive a Storme and I have observed that Gurkha is the only vehicle where the driver sits even higher than the Storme. But that brings me to my question, are you able to enter mall parking in it with the roof rack? Do you have any numbers of the total height if the vehicle including the rack?

Till now, have been able to park in malls. But I have to be careful. Height with roof rack is 2296mm.With loaded roof rack, add about 40-50mm to that. Once I went to see doctor and pulled out a bunch of low hung cables outside the clinic. Luckily no damages.
Sometimes due to height restriction, the car gets VIP treatment, a better parking space.

Thank you for the detailed review. This has always been on my radar and your post give me the added impetus to go for this.

- Can you post the photo of the middle row. I am a bit confused if it is a captain's or bench seat.

- How easy /difficult is it to climb in for the elderly?

- How easy / comfortable are the gear shifts

Thank you in advance. Happy driving.

Middle row is bench seat. Leg room is just sufficient. Did a 5000km long trip in Dec-Jan with family. No complaints from family. Sharing a photo. I am 5 ft 6 inches and in this picture, driver seat is set for a 6ft person. I have just enough room to travel without discomfort, however there is no room to stretch in forward direction. It may be a concern if a 6 ft person is driving and another 6 ft person sitting behind.
The vehicle is really high and for elderly people, it would need efforts to climb up and down. Getting in and out from first and second row will be fine, but could be challenging to enter and come out of last row. My father was a bit concerned about this. But once he sat in, he was more than happy to sit high, with comfort.
Gear shift are smooth. There are many who have complained about gear shift issue in 1st and 2nd gear. Force motors took this feedback and has done the necessary update in gear box. Those of have got this update done report gear shifts are smooth. I have not gone for that update yet, as my experience is fine with gear shift. Newly manufactured Gurkhas are already coming with this update.
