Give Attapur a try next time.
Thank you for the suggestion. We were recommended Attapur by multiple people and we plan on sending the car there when it goes for its next maintenance routine.

Thank you!
Apparently the service centres we go to are bad in general. But, the one in a different location is excellent (yet to see it by ourselves). It was recommended to us by a lot of people.

Your location says Mumbai, so maybe MG service is good there? (Do check with others)

I think MG will launch a facelift version of the Gloster in a few months.

Re: MG Gloster Review | Ownership Report

At the outset, many thanks for a very comprehensive review. Your hard work will be very very useful for anyone who wants to purchase a vehicle of this segment.
You mentioned of a very poor FE in city conditions (4-5 kmpl)…… i don’t know whether i have missed it somewhere, what’s the FE for say a 100 km ride on a highway?

Thanks a lot!

Regarding your question,
Our car is the 4*2 variant and I am not sure if the 4*4 one sips less or more fuel (that car is more powerful but the 4WD parts might add extra weight, that is why)

Assuming, you go at a constant pace of 100km/h you will 11-12 kmpl no problem. This is if you are not overtaking anyone and just cruising along.
We got this mileage even when we applied brakes (at intersections, someone cutting us etc). The most important thing is sedate driving.

But, if you were to do some spirited driving, like overtaking, launching the car etc. Fuel efficiency will drop drastically.

Re: MG Gloster Review | Ownership Report

Key fob battery replacement

The battery in the key fob was due for a replacement. It was very easy.

Tools needed: Small flat head screwdriver, replacement battery.
Opening was time consuming since I was scared of breaking the key fob.

Step 1:
Remove the key from the key fob by pressing the key release button

Step 2:
Insert a small flat-head screwdriver into the rectangular hole highlighted. Run it around the border of the key. Pry it open gently as springs (used for release button) might fly out.

Step 3:
Now that it is open, replace the battery with CR2032 battery, I paid 50₹ for my replacement Panasonic one. Original was by maxell. Positive terminal is labelled.

My replacement battery had a textured negative terminal, it isn't an issue.

Step 4:
Make sure the button used to release the key is aligned properly (it has a slight curve to it) with the other shell. Close the shells together.

One annoying issue is that, you have to go and test the key fob with the car. Usually key fobs have a small red light that flashes whenever a button is pressed but this one does not.

Re: MG Gloster Review | Ownership Report

Maps on MID

Some cars can show maps/direction on there MID.

The first time I ever saw this was on an Audi A4 advertisement on the front page of the newspaper.

Though the gloster has a fully digital MID, that is high resolution and responsive it lacks the ability to display maps.

It does show the directions on the MID, but only when the inbuilt satnav is used, which is unfortunate because they are terrible.

The car lights graphic in the 2nd picture comes on everytime this feature is used. It isn’t tied with the headlight usage.

Re: MG Gloster Review | Ownership Report

Quick (and small) update

we went on a road trip recently. Torrential downpour throughout the entire journey. Road closures and potholes were common sight. We didn't have to worry about anything thanks to the ground clearance. Potholes weren't punishing like they would in our older car. The car was able to handle everything with ease.

The rear camera got dirty too many times. MG should have provided a rear camera washer for it or conceal the camera.

We don't use any of the ADAS features but AEB warnings are turned on. It is surprising how well it was able to detect cars, bikes, trucks etc. in front of us in the rain without any problem.

NVH was low during the entire journey. The only sound was from the rain, which was soothing.

Mileage with mix of city, highway, ghat driving (on the way back home).

No issues were faced related to Apple Carplay duding the entire trip. I think MG ironed out everything between this trip and my initial ownership posts.

random videos throughout the journey.

Here is a parting shot
