The engine oil capacity for the Nexon manual is 5 liters. For the BS6 Nexon, the recommended oil is 0W-20 only.

What's the high ticket items for 30K service that makes it so expensive?
They used fully synthetic engine oil. One reason for this could be that the oil change recommendation for the Nexon is every 15K kms, rather than every 10K kms. Since my car has an air purifier, they also changed the PM2.5 combi filter filter, which costs around 1k. The fuel filter, which needs to be changed every 30k kms, was also replaced. Overall, I do not see anything extra or unnecessary billed.

I would also expect sealant to be covered under warranty. Strange to see it was not

Thanks but do you really wait for 15K kms for an oil change? I thinks thats overdue. If your vehicle runs in the city, the oil may disintegrate much faster than the 15K kms interval.

Edit : Could you round off what's the total service cost upto 30K kms please? That'd give a fair comparison for every 10K kms.

My Swift D used to be 3.5K every 10K kms service and 6.5K every 20K kms. That's a total of 10,000/- every 20K kms interval.

My 15k km service cost around ₹5.8k, while the 30k km service cost about ₹10.2k. This cost is comparable to that of similar segment competitors such as XUV 3XO (D).

Tata Nexon Diesel Ownership Review - 6th Service Update

I completed the 6th service for my Cron on January 24th when the odometer read approximately 36,614 km. I contacted the Classic Motors Yashavantpur Service Center on January 22nd and got an appointment for the morning of the 24th.

I had the following minor issues which I asked my Service Advisor to look into:

1. After restarting, the Drive mode was not reverting to the default City mode.
2. There was a metal to metal contact sound coming from the front right side.

The second issue was due to a loose washer/bolt, which was resolved by tightening it. Regarding the first issue, they performed a software update, and when I visited the service center to collect the car, it seemed to be working. However, after driving for a couple of days, I realized it wasn't working in a specific scenario (refer to Case 3 below), and I am yet to show it to the service center to rectify it.

Case 1 (working): Unlock the car >> Press the start button (without pressing the clutch) >> In the instrument cluster, you can see the drive mode switching back to City.

Case 2 (working): Start the engine >> Change the drive mode (e.g., to Sport) >> Stop the engine >> Start again - In this case, the drive mode switches back to City.

Case 3 (not working): Start the car >> Change the drive mode (e.g., to Sport) >> Stop the engine >> Lock the car >> Unlock the car >> Start the engine - In this case, it holds the last drive mode (Sport) and does not revert to City mode automatically.

Since this is a general checkup , total service costed around 1.5K.

However, after the recent software update, I noticed that the pickup has improved considerably, and I got the best mileage of around 23 km/L.

I am overall very pleased with my decision to purchase the Cron, which has been serving me exceptionally well. I'm equally satisfied with the Classic Motors Yashavantpur Service Center, especially my Service Advisor, Vijaykumar sir, and the Service Manager, Varun Kumar sir.
Getting an appointment is straightforward, there is ample parking space within the service center, clean washrooms, and a comfortable customer lounge. Most importantly, they provide outstanding service. Having previously owned Ford and Maruti cars, I can confidently say that this service center is on par, if not better, than the others. I hope it continues this way.

Closing this update with some pictures I took after thoroughly washing and polishing the car at my native place. I believe the Royal Blue color gives the Cron some extra character.

Re: Tata Nexon Diesel Ownership Review - GPS tracker installation

I've been considering installing a GPS tracker for my car for a long time. It would be useful to know the location when I leave the car for service or park it outside. It would also help my family track my real-time location when I travel outstation.

Initially, I thought of buying a battery-powered GPS tracker. However, I was concerned about the high temperatures inside the car when parked under the sun, which can exceed 45°C. This led me to consider a GPS tracker connected to the car battery.

After extensive research on Amazon and various forums, I came across VEDA ENTERPRISES, which sells GPS trackers for all vehicle types and businesses. I spoke to the owner, VEDA, discussed my doubts, and found him to be very genuine. He offered a very competitive price compared to all the online websites I checked. I paid him via Gpay, and he couriered the GPS tracker the same day.

For anyone interested, here are the shop and contact details: VEDA ENTERPRISES 15/167 C, NY Tower, Ground Floor IAC Road, Kuttikkattukara, Kalamassery, Kerala 683501 Phone: 70104-27406

Installation: From the beginning, I was clear that I wanted to do the installation myself without cutting any wires. I decided to install it using a fuse tap. The installation was simple: connect the red wire to the 12V battery fuse (always ON), the orange wire to a fuse that gets power when the ignition is switched on, and the black wire to the ground.

Once I got the fuse tap, I connected it with the respective wires and used heat shrink tubes to seal them permanently to avoid any electrical short circuits. After making the connections, I called VEDA to activate my account. He did everything in 15 minutes and sent me the tracking app details along with the login information.

I installed the GPS tracker one month ago, and so far, it is working very well. The location accuracy is excellent, and the app is very responsive. The device looks good and consumes very little power; even after parking continuously for 8 to 10 days, it did not drain the battery.App can be installed on multiple devices, once login using given username and password anyone can track the live car location.

Very interesting!
  1. What's the frequency of location updates?
  2. Does the frequency of location updates change when the car is running vs when the car is parked and engine switched off?
  3. What's the mobile network used? Do you need to pay subscription charges for the internet after a few years?
  4. Could you please share a few more photos of where the device was installed? Is there a seperate antenna which is kept outside?

When car is running it update every 10 sec and when engine is switched off it is updating every 5 minutes. But looks like these are configurable as per user manual of GPS.

When car is stopped with engine ON frequency is 10 sec however when engine is off it is 5 min.

Device comes with Airtel sim. 1st year subscription is free and after that yearly it comes around 1.5K which i feel is reasonable. If interested you can talk to seller for exact details.

Device is very small. i have installed it in A-pillar of the car as i think here it gets better signal. No separate antena required, everything is inbuilt within the device. I have installed using velcro tape just to avoid any rattling over a period of time.

Re: Tata Nexon Diesel Ownership Review

These GPS trackers are good for routine use as long as (touchwood) the eyes of antisocial elements are away from the car. For security purpose, keep in mind that the GPS trackers hsve zero anti theft protection as these are thrown away quickly by the thieves who scan the can for such trackers these days.
