re: My New Hyundai Creta SX(O) Diesel Automatic | Ownership Review | EDIT: 30,000 km update

Thank you for sharing your experiences with your Creta. The diesel TC combo is truly a gem. Wish you many happy and safe drives.

Couple of questions -

How's the drivability below 2000 rpm? Do you feel it lacks the grunt in slow city traffic maneuvers or is it good enough for daily usage?

Any DPF related concerns that you have faced so far?

1. Drivability is good below 2000 rpm. The engine pulls cleanly from 1500 rpm and delivers 250 nm of torque. I leave all the traffic behind with a slight dab on the throttle for a few seconds. TC Automatic tuning is done nicely i.e. it always keeps the engine between 1500-2000 rpm, only when I press the throttle hard does it upshift above 2000 rpm.

2. In these 10,000 km, I never experienced any DPF issues.

- I drive around 35-50 km daily inside the City.

-In these 120 days of ownership, there was a 45-day stretch in which I didn't hit the highways and the car was used only inside the city at speeds below 50 kmph and there were no DPF issues.

- Creta uses a very small amount of Adblue. During 1st service at 1500 km, I got the Adblue tank full. Now the car is at 10000 km odo, in these 8500 km, the Adblue level got down by only 10% which is great.

Which Ciaz engine do you have?
1.3 Diesel? 1.5 Diesel? 1.5 Petrol?

The list doesn't really tell much without this information.

4. Suspension- It is very good. When I am driving my other cars my mind misses the suspension of Creta. It is perfectly balanced between Soft and Firm.

Ciaz > Creta > Compass > Seltos > CLA.
Thanks for the comparison. You are especially qualified for this since you have all the cars and drive them regularly.

Ciaz getting such high rating for suspension was really surprising. I don't have any exposure to Ciaz till now. Looks like a very underrated car.

Thanks! I rated the vehicles based on the comfort provided by the suspension, rather than its stability or performance while cornering. Thank you for your understanding.

re: My New Hyundai Creta SX(O) Diesel Automatic | Ownership Review | EDIT: 30,000 km update

I have 10 months old Creta AE Petrol IVT which clocked 29500 kms till now. Today it had 30000 kms paid service done at Sharyu Hyundai, Navi Mumbai.

It is my daily commutter to office at Nariman Point which counts for 80 kms drive a day. Morning drive is smooth as I reach office by 8.15 am while evening is mostly in Bumper to Bumper traffic as I leave office by 5.45 pm. Occassionally, I take Atal Sethu to avoid traffic. I also did 4 Kerala drives in this short period and a couple of Goa trips.

The experience is satisfactory both in city traffic and highways. I am finding it easy to drive in bumper to bumper traffic thanks to auto hold function and IVT(My earlier four vehicles were manual and this is my first automatic). On highways, I found it as a relaxed and comfortable cruiser which never felt you fatigued. It had all the features which makes you to drive sedatively on highways. I had to plan my overtakings as the initial lag is evident at lower gears. I definitely miss that punch and excitement which my Thar (Petrol Manual) gives me on Highways.

In city driving I use economy mode which gives me 17 plus mileage even in Mumbai traffic. While on highways I am getting 13-15 range easily with comfort mode and maintaining average speed of 90-100 km/ltr. Occassionally I use sport mode and it eats into the fuel consumption and mileage dips to 10-12 km/ltr.

I use my Creta for travel with my family which includes my better half and two kids. The Thar is used occassionally for fun drive with friends when we have some off roading plans. Former one keeps you relaxed while the latter one excites you and brings smile on your face whenever you drive it.

I can relate to OP about Creta. We have both Creta and Seltos in the family. After driving them on BLR's poorly maintained roads, we have realized the importance of cushiony, plush ride of Creta vs bit harsh and stiff ride of Seltos. We even tried same stretch of broken roads for comparison and Creta proved to be winner, hands down. Family members prefer Creta for city driving. Highway ride quality is quite satisfactory as well. No wonder it is selling like hot cake Hyundai knows Indian conditions too well.

Thanks for sharing your feedback I must say that the colour of your Creta looks good and Unique . Surprisingly the 1.5 NA engine of both Creta and Seltos is fuel efficient if you drive sensibly.

Yes, the Creta's suspension isn't too soft like the Honda City or Ciaz nor too stiff like Seltos. It is perfectly balanced and family members plus drivers both will be satisfied.

re: My New Hyundai Creta SX(O) Diesel Automatic | Ownership Review | EDIT: 30,000 km update

I've been experiencing a strange issue with my car that has happened four times now. Here's what's been going on -

1. After unlocking the car and getting inside, I follow the regular procedure to start the car by pushing the start button while pressing the brake pedal.

2. When I try to start the engine, there is a brief 0.3-0.5 second crank to start, but then everything stops. It feels like there is no power inside the car as if the car has frozen.

3. The first time this happened, I was able to resolve it by opening and closing the driver's door several times. After doing this, power was restored to the car and it started normally.

4. However, the second and third times it happened, opening and closing the door didn't work. I then tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery after opening the bonnet, but that didn't resolve the issue either. I ended up waiting for 10-15 minutes, after which the problem resolved itself and power returned to the car, allowing it to start.

5. This issue occurs only when the engine is off.

6. Can't blame the battery as when the current comes to the car again, the car starts easily.

This problem started after the 10000 service of the car, during which the ASC was having trouble updating the car.

Does anybody have faced this issue in Creta?

How this can be resolved?

re: My New Hyundai Creta SX(O) Diesel Automatic | Ownership Review | EDIT: 30,000 km update

Solution Update -

Called Hyundai RSA, the person came on a scooter with various tools and an extra battery.

He found the left side nut of the battery loose and tightened it. As the left side nuts are under the cover I can't see them, so I focused only on the right side nuts.

That person told me that as per his experience, generally Service centres workers carelessly don't tight back the nuts after their work.

Nice comparison with all of your cars. Creta 1.5 diesel is a complete package

That ciaz diesel can surprise you in the top end Lowest coefficient of drag among mass market cars + 1150 kg weight does wonders.

I am surprised how you rated seltos at the bottom when it came to handling. I felt seltos had a stiffer set up and handled better than the creta (ofcourse both 1.5 diesels I drove). I have a 2022 creta 1.5D in extended family. I haven't been lucky enough to get the fuel efficiency figures that you get at 120 kmph

Yes, the Ciaz Diesel is an underrated car and it delivers strong performance and mileage.

Actually, I rated the suspension according to the comfort provided by it and not by cornering capabilities. Seltos is very good car, I made a mistake by buying 1.5 NA engine.

Yeah, During normal highway drives with speed varying from 80 to 120 kmph. I get around 18 kmpl over-all In my Creta.
