Hi Dippy,

You mods look subtle and actually look OEM (hope Mahindra is looking for 5 door model). Could you please share where you got the custom logo's (4*4 & THAR).

I personally feel logo's and decals are the most budget friendly and good looking mods, Team - BHP stickers included :P .

The Thar logo is the stock logo which I just got painted in matte black.

As far as the 4x4 logo goes, I looked up online for ideas and zeroed onto one. The gave the design to the guy who does graphics and logos in my garage and he got it made for me. Also painted in matte black.

So after 6 months of only daily city driving, finally took the Thar for some 4x4 low fun.

Headed out on NH3 towards Nasik to the Mahindra Off-road Academy at Igatpuri. I have already done the advanced Trail Survivor course here and since there was a batch going on this weekend, I just decided to drop in and meet my old friends at Mahindra Adventure and do a bit of off-roading as well.

Its one thing to do off-road obstacles on a trainer Thar but a whole different experience and satisfaction to do the fun stuff in your own machine.

What an amazing dual personality the Thar has. One moment its a hardcore off-roader and the next moment you are cruising on the open highway with the smooth mStallion and 6 AT doing its job.

So I guess quite a. few of us might have seen videos of people getting gifted a 1:64 scale hot wheels model of their car by a random stranger like in the video below:

Something similar like this happened with the Thar. My brother parked the Thar outside Candies restaurant in Bandra and was waiting for a friend, when a random guy came up to him and went ballistic appreciating my Thar saying how cool it looks etc.

Few minutes later he pulled out a 1:64 model of a Jeep and gave it to my brother saying this looks very close to our Thar and that he would like him to have it, it a gift. Quite a sweet gesture I would say.

Thanks a ton Frankie. Please let me know when you want to catch up and have a go in it.

As far as audio goes, might upgrade the speakers in a while from now, but will stay away from a remap as the stock power is more than enough. The motor itself is super refined and smooth.

So I have hit the 10,000 km mark in approx 8 months of ownership. Actually this milestone would have come up much earlier had it not been for a few media cars I have been driving & also the long term MG Comet that I have in the garage:



The odo hit 10k this morning and off it went today for its 2nd service @10000km. I chose Mahindra Modi in Thane, since it is close to my workplace.

Also this is the very first time that I chose the pick up drop service. I have always driven my cars to the service centre myself and got the job done till now.

I took a 9.30 am appointment and the driver came promptly at 9.00 am to pick up the Thar. At 9.45 I got a call from the SA about the jobs that would be done.

Tasks done were as follows:

• Engine oil & oil filter change
• Rear axle oil change
• AC filter change
• General check up of the vehicle.
• Washing & cleaning

Was very impressed by my SA Mr. Gaurav Dalvi. He was very proactive and was regularly updating me on the progress with pictures and videos. Car was delivered spanking clean, something that was much needed after the off-roading session last weekend.

The total amount that I paid was Rs. 3,948/-. Was very impressed with Mahindra Modi's service and will happily recommend them to other owners.

They have also come up with an off-road track in their premises where Mahindra 4x4 owners can go and have a little fun.

Was thinking of getting some graphics done for a while now but didn't want it to be too loud.

So the dinosaur geek that I am thought of this. Got the Velociraptor claw marks done on the left side of the bonnet and the T-Rex Jurassic Park logo on both the doors, just like seen on the Jeeps in the movie. Stuck to the black & white theme of my Thar.

I think it looks pretty nice and clean, while adding a bit of spunk.

When the Dodge Ram TRX came out the hood cover Easter Egg was more spoken about than the actual truck or the V8 Supercharged monstor.

See if you can add a little Ipsy/Imny inside the mouth of that dino just to piss of the Manesar boys.

Continuing with the Jurassic Park theme on my Thar, got a replica number plate seen on the Wrangler in the movie:

Also was wanting to get a spare wheel cover since a while now. The Thar ones were too common and didnt want the hard plastic ones on offer locally.

Managed to get this funky one which also goes with the theme of my car. Looks quite hilarious as well .

So had to go to Nashik at the start of this week for the launch and drive of the Mahindra 3XO.

As always was offered a cab for the commute by Mahindra but I decided to take the Thar itself. A nice drive down NH3 and what better than to take the Thar back to its birth place

Met up with BHPians Omkar and Axe77 at the 3XO media drive. Here is my Thar parked with Axe77's classy looking GLC300. Love the colour shade on this one:



The drive to Nashik and back was pretty smooth barring a couple of traffic snarls on the way back. The temperatures were scorching but the Thar's AC worked well to keep the cabin cool.
