10,000 miles & 2nd service update

10,000 miles & 2nd service update

The car completed running 10000 miles. Dropped the car for the second service at Westboro Toyota. Oil change, filter change, tire rotation were done, along with the multi-point inspection. Since the car is under Toyota Care, nothing was charged to me. All the services up to 20000 miles are free.

I love driving this car. The engine has really opened up now and breathes easier. I did multiple long drives over the last couple of months with the longest one to Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a one-way distance of around 1200 miles. All the other drives were isolated to multiple hiking trips to New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. I was a bit apprehensive of the low GC during winters as we get a good amount of snow in the Northeast. It hasn't been a bother until now. I have driven to remote locations in New Hampshire & Maine in peak winter without any troubles. The FE remains on the lower side, I get an average of 23 MPG.

Some salt covered pics of the car:

I have installed the 70Mai A810 4K dual channel dash cam and am happy with the performance. I have been using 70Mai cameras in my previous cars and hence decided to stick with this brand as I have found them to be reliable in the past:

Unlike the front camera, the rear one just captures 1080p videos, but the quality is decent:

Hi,
Your Second image from the above was stealed now for my Computer Wallpaper.
Really liked that snap with the white back ground where the car looks gorgeous.

Wishes to clock many more miles without issues.

re: A family car | 2023 Toyota Camry TRD V6 | Ownership review | 15,000 miles & 3rd service update

Thanks for sharing your experiences and nice clicks. 23MPG is quite impressive and typical for a V6 I think. My E90 also manages just about 21MPG on the average tankful. The refinement and power on this V6 must be unbeatable compared to the typical pick, the inline 4

Even I am using a 70mai A810, but I find the rear Dashcam too grainy. It probably doesn't help that my rear windshield is tinted on the darker side. Could you please upload any Dashcam sample stills if you get time?

I agree, the inline 4 can't hold a candle to V6. All my test drives before the purchase were in inline 4s and they were instant sleep inducing. I would have never gone for a Camry if V6 wasn't an option. Sadly, Toyota has removed it from the lineup for the 2025 refresh.

The rear dashcam is useless for capturing the number plates while in motion. It can capture the numbers only if the speeds are below 5 MPH. However, the front one is good, it manages to capture the plates in most conditions. Here are some samples from both the front and the back.

Front - Sunny:

Front - Cloudy:

Front - Road Signs:

Back - Sunny (Number plates are distorted):

Back - Cloudy (Grainy texture):

Back - Night. Here it manages to capture the plates as it was a standstill:

15,000 miles & 3rd service update

The car completed running 15,000 miles. It's running fine with no issues.
A family car | 2023 Toyota Camry TRD V6 | Ownership review | 25,000 miles & 5th service update-img_3427.jpg

Dropped the car for the third service last weekend at Westboro Toyota. The service included:
  • Adjusting all fluid levels
  • Multipoint inspection
  • Tire rotation
  • Wheel alignment & balancing

Only the wheel alignment & balancing was charged $169 as it doesn't fall under the Toyota care. I'm yet to get the service invoice as the software that most of the dealers use in USA is hacked and their complete system is offline.

Few pics from some of the drives in the late spring to the Berkshires & Catskills:

20,000 miles & 4th service update

20,000 miles & 4th service update

The car completed 1 year in July. The odometer now stands at 20,300 miles. Dropped the car for the fourth service at Westboro Toyota last Friday. Oil change, filter change, tire rotation was done, along with the multi-point inspection. Nothing was charged as the car is under Toyota Care.

I have been going on a lot of long drives and it just performs without throwing any tantrums. I enjoy driving this car. Few pics from one of the drives to Adirondacks in summer:

The low ground clearance is not an issue on the regular roads, but we drive to New Hampshire a lot for hiking and these kinds of heart in the mouth moments have become common in the uneven parking lots. I have managed not to scrape the bottom by parking under supervision in such instances, with my wife taking the role of the supervisor:

It is always nice to see hot Japanese sedans still available in the U.S., In other parts of the world sedans are moving up in the premium range while SUVs are available as alternatives for these proper cars.
Unfortunately, Toyota sedan version of the Corolla is not available in the UK now and the Camry is not listed as well.

25,000 miles & 5th service update

25,000 miles & 5th service update:

The car completed running 25,000 miles. It's munching miles as if there is no tomorrow. I have been taking it for long drives quite frequently and enjoy how it drives. Recently took it on a really long drive to North Carolina from Boston through the high density I-95 corridor and the journey was tireless.

Dropped the car for the fifth service at Westboro Toyota today. All the fluids were topped up and tire rotation was done, along with the multi-point inspection. This is the last free service under Toyota Care. While I was waiting at the service, I took the new 2025 Camry into a test drive. While it’s a nice upgrade in terms of interiors, the 2.5L engine, which is the only option at present is extremely boring. It’s sad to see the V6 engine go away. They should have retained it. I don’t think it’s ever going to come back.

How can one miss visiting this bridge while in North Carolina? In front of the infamous Can Opener bridge at Durham

More context on this bridge:

The dealer installed rear license plate frame was an eyesore. I wanted to replace it right after the purchase but could never do it. I finally ordered a Toyota retro style frame from Etsy:

Before:

After, I need to replace the screws with black ones:

Also ordered a Toyota retro genuine parts stickers from Etsy:

Fender Bender

A minor fender bender:

My wife had taken the car to drop the kid at school couple of weeks back and she got caught in a minor fender bender while returning home. She was exiting a rotary and an Audi entered the rotary by jumping the stop sign and touched the rear end of my car. One of the entry into this rotary has a stop sign rather than a yield and the Audi driver ignored it. Looks like he was distracted as there is no chance of missing the giant stop sign at that intersection.

My wife called the cops who immediately showed up and the Audi driver admitted his mistake with them. The cop didn't ask for the dash cam footage as it was evident that the Audi driver didn't have the right of way and he had admitted jumping the stop sign. The cop prepared the report and handed over the Audi driver's insurance details to her. We got the online copy of the report from the Westborough Police Department website after 3 days.

We filed a claim with the Audi's insurance provider and the process was extremely seamless. They asked us to upload the photos and the police report in their app. They approved the claim in a week and also provided us with a rental car for the duration of the repair. I dropped the car at Westboro Toyota and they took a week to repair it. The rear diffuser was damaged and they replaced it along with repainting the bumper.

The scratches on the rear bumper and the diffuser:

Re: A family car | 2023 Toyota Camry TRD V6 | Ownership review | 25,000 miles & 5th service update

I have tried this route a couple of times in Chennai, where i took the footage to a nearby station asking for a hit and run case to be filed (the 2W fled). No response and the way they treat you - we end up using our OD insurance instead of going the long route. Glad to see it worked better in your case
