The diversity is such that the garage gearbox line-up now includes a 4-speed, 5-speed, 6-speed, 7-speed & 8-speed! No two colours are the same either. All this garage needs now is a fast 2-door sportscar

The Classic 4x4 has a pure-mechanical feel that is missing in the Thar. It's also the more agile when offroading. The smaller size + lighter weight + MT gearbox make it a whole lot of fun:
GTO, Bhai kitna jalaoge?

On a serious note though may your stable keep increasing!! Hope to see your stable in person one day.

However I must say the Classic 4X4 still captures my eyes, even with all the other beauties. Probably because I wanted that beast in college but was never able to get my hands on one. In the company your Classic keeps, it has this real "tedha hai par mera hai" feel.

God bless!!

@GTO

Excellent Thread. I felt writing a cheque to Mahindra get a Thar for me . But with this thread you might have added additional burden on the already long waiting period for the prospective Thar owners.

@Mahindra sales team (We know you will be using this thread) should be gifting a Thar to TeamBHP for all the marketing, Thar is receiving through this and other Threads, without Mahindra spending a dime.

Re: My Modified Mahindra Thar 4x4 Review | Red Turbo-Petrol AT Convertible

@GTO, the passion you have for this beast is just great. I absolutely loved the narration and the beautiful pics.

Your post and thought process gives me some insights into how I can adapt it as my daily driver. I am one of those who are on the fence when it comes to the Thar. I absolutely love the 3 door version, but in terms of practicality I am hoping the upcoming 5 door variant will push me towards a decision.

I am definitely taking some inspiration from your thread to help me and my family make a decision on this beast

Wishing you the best amazing experiences with this beauty. Keep us enlightened always

Re: My Modified Mahindra Thar 4x4 Review | Red Turbo-Petrol AT Convertible

Brilliant review, beautifully complements the official review thread - now all that someone looking for a Thar needs is to read these two threads for a very fair and balanced view of what to expect!

Try setting the fader to ¾th to front, set the GEQ and the bass/ mids/ treble to your tastes, and the stock ICE is actually livable. The irritant for me was the tweeters right above the ears - I disconnected them and went from front components instead, with tweeters mounted near the A pillar on the dash.

And I'll definitely update my ownership thread soon

I have two in each arm now. And I plan to get couple of pairs more, and use a hook and loop to have them on the surface above the 'rear' speaker mounts too. (Hook and loop so that I can remove them when the top goes down!).

Re: My Modified Mahindra Thar 4x4 Review | Red Turbo-Petrol AT Convertible

This review alone is going to increase Thar sales in India, from having no plans of buying a Thar, to imagining myself driving one with top down and morning wind in my face I was driving the Thar myself while reading the review.

Stedi = Headlights.

Foglamps are from Bimbra. They have this specific model with switchable colour modes. Approx 13k + taxes.

Bought from Gautam @ Sai Mag Wheels. Please ping him.

No motors.

Perhaps. We've not had any issue yet because the only things we keep in the bottle-holders of our cars are:

- Coffee mug with a lid (sipper)

- Bisleri bottles

Never an open cup in a moving car. It's just asking for trouble. If coffee or cola spill into the seat upholstery, it's a task to clean them.

Thanks knrn. Incredibly well said (the entire post). Best part of modifying Jeeps & Bullets is the process = choosing from different options, colours etc. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Did lots of research in my quest for a bumper upgrade. From the POV of airbags, it turns out that metal bumpers might not be all that bad. Spoke to someone who really knows this stuff & others who work on safety systems for a living in the auto industry - I was told that the airbag sensors basically calculate the impact force. While getting *any* aftermarket bumper can / may / could affect the airbag deployment (because there are 100 different variables), there is not much of a difference when it comes to metal vs FRP bumpers. In fact, I did some reading on USA Jeep forums and if anything, a metal bumper could trigger the airbag earlier (greater impact force compared to FRP which will absorb some impact initially).

Congratulations GTO, your Thar looks amazing. Very tastefully modified. The Thar really compliments the Classic, although I would have preferred mine in black. But nevertheless an amazing car with amazing review and amazing mods.

The pic of the Thar in the slush and you smiling says it all

Wow GTO ! How do you keep the odometers ticking on all the vehicles !! Here I am just struggling to manage to keep both the ladies the car and my bike happy by cycling them for their use. And since I have a favorite it's difficult even in 2 vehicles.

The Thar in red looks gorgeous !! There was a time I too was contemplating, but practicality pushed me towards the Aspire

This very sums up the emotion that the THAR is! You buy it for the love of it, and not by loads of rationality. Beautiful ownership thread @GTO.

And what a drool worthy garage you have. I am sure you would have many thoughts everytime you have an itch to drive with such marvels in the garage. Which one to pick? And glad to hear Thar has it's takers in-spite of the guzzlers in the garage.

Love the tastefully done mods on your Thar, though I must say, the 285's could be an overkill if you do long journeys on tarmac (possibly not your use case). The best part about the Thar is that each one is unique in itself as each owner wants it to feel and look in his/her own way. Yours suits what you wanted and looks amazing.

While I continue to march beyond 40k kms on my Thar in less than 2 years, wishing you many miles of fun and joyful ownership of the beast. Look forward to more updates on your Thar.

Congrats! The Thar indeed looks amazing with all the tasteful mods that have gone in.

Happy to see the Classic stay. It couldn’t have hoped for a better home.

I would agree with you. For me, this is a night & weekend toy, hence I went for a wee bit of aesthetics over practicalities. The 285 looks mega and greatly adds to the personality of the car. A buddy of mine runs 305s and I'm in love with the way his Jeep looks too, but that size would be a bit much. Between the 265 upgrade that's popular and these 305s, I settled in the middle for 285s.

Nicely done Rush! Some decisions are just pure from the heart and nothing else. Its just one life to live. You are living it and how ! Yours and AD's Thar are being used the way they need to be!

I have never driven one and yes I am purely a highway enjoying person. But I can sense the emotion when you folks write such content of what you own. That alone says it all!

Congrats!
