Nah, this is not even the story of getting a pre-loved car
Hello @tuffenberg,

This post pure gold! Thanks to you, I ditched my Virtus GT plans and went full "pre-loved fast sedan" mode. After test-driving a bunch of them (320ds, 520ds, GTs), I finally grabbed a 2016 320d LCI with 60k on the clock from Spinny.

One year in, and man, everything you wrote hits different now. That thing about "deceptive speed" where you're suddenly doing triple digits without noticing? Yep, happens weekly on my Bangalore-Mysore runs. And those "character-building" speed breaker exercises? Got my PhD in that now (though my undercarriage has the battle scars from the learning period).

Your post totally busted my "BMWs will bankrupt me" fears. The maintenance isn't nearly the financial nightmare everyone warned about. My wallet survives, and damn - that torque makes it worth every rupee spent!

I've gone from 2014 Swift Dzire Vxi life to joining you in the cult of people who arrive at destinations feeling fresh instead of beaten up. Those trips in the ghats in Karnataka hit different now.

Thanks for the enlightenment that made me one of those people who can't stop grinning while driving. Your post didn't just change my car - it upgraded my entire driving experience.

Happy driving!

Re: Buying my first pre-loved German sedan | Used BMW 320d (F30)

Congratulations on the beast and really an awesome writeup!

Mate, just a note, the 320d does not come with a twin turbo! The "Twin power" on the engine cover indicates that it has a twin scroll turbo. In simple terms its basically a turbo which uses two separate exhaust gas inlets for quick spooling.

It is when you go above 80 that a BMW tells you why a 2Litre Twin Turbo engine with 200 horses and 400 NM torque matters. It gives you the same vibe at 140 that you get on Polo at 80. Even at 150 plus, it tells you it has more to give, and effortlessly. BMW is limited to 230 Kph by the laws of air resistance, I am told
