Those pedal covers look good. I wanted the same design while taking delivery of the Black Panther, but they were out of stock. Had to settle with the diamond design one.
Hello Ivan, Can you share us the pic of the diamond design that you are mentioning?

Eager to see the design of it.

Pretty simple, don't like it much.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700

The last two months have been not as much of travel as expected. RUDRA covered merely 500-600kms.

Here is a small update that is enhancing the usability of CarPlay with RUDRA.

I updated my 12Mini to the iOS18 Public Beta 1.

Found quite a few interesting things:
1. New Wallpapers
2. Notification Animations are different
3. Bold Text &
4. Hands-Free Navigation with our keywords

I made a small video about this. I found this quite useful as the back option needs me to get out of comfort everytime while driving.

Looks like iOS18 Public Beta 2 will pack more features for CarPlay. Fingers Crossed.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700

Something that I found recently is an unusual way Mahindra has engineered their suspensions.

Having two different suspension tunes for 5-seater and 7 Seater is understandable. Having two different suspension tunes for Petrol & Diesel Powertrains is understandable as well, as the engine weight plays a vital role (since the difference in the weights is ~70-90kgs).

What made me curious is the snap I took which is below:
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-whatsapp-image-20240725-10.20.31-am-1.jpeg

Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-whatsapp-image-20240725-10.20.31-am.jpeg

Why does Mahindra provide a similar setup for a 7-seater Petrol, 5 5-seater petrol, and 5 5-seater diesel but a different setup for 7 7-seater diesel?

Even the LCA looks to be different. Surprised by the variety of tunes Mahindra has played for each of the powertrain options unfortunately they could not still perfect it.

Thought of cross-verifying it with the Boodmo, which stirred my confusion more.

Do let me know what you think of these different tunes engineered by Mahindra, I am sure there should be some logical reason behind such a choice, just wanted to know the engineering behind that selection/adaption.

Maybe this could be why Petrol 7 seaters are not having that plush & planted ride quality as their Diesel counterparts. Fingers crossed!

Did you get two years' of AdrenoX subscription with your 7L? Mine is a 7L but to my surprise the subscription ran out exactly at the end of 1 year! Wondering if M&M silently reduced the period of subscription for the 2023 7L models to 1 year! Now I'm wondering whether to renew this subscription at all. Other than asking alexa to play songs I have not found too many other uses for the AdrenoX beyond being of some initial curiosity.

Yes I got exactly two years of Adrenox subscription for my AX7L AWD. Ended on 01 JuLy 2024.
Thereafter I got an offer to renew by paying Rs 2500. I didn't renew.

UPDATE ON THE RECALL

C

However, on the very next day, an unexpected turn of event occurred. While idling the engine as part of my usual cold start routine before heading to a nearby relative's place, I suddenly heard a distinct "tak tak" sound from the engine. The noise seemed like that of a loose tappet or lifter and was notably louder with the hood closed.

Listening closely, I realized the sound was more prominent, raising concerns. Despite considering the possibility of it being due to a cold start, the noise persisted even after a 5km drive and 5 minutes of idling. This unexpected development left me puzzled about the cause of the issue.

Immediately recorded it and sent it to Mr. Ronald. He suggested bringing RUDRA to the ASC as he wants to diagnose it before anything goes out of hand. Glad that they are attentive & are willing to immediately sort out things.

I have recorded the sound of that tak tak from the engine and the recording is attached at the bottom of the thread:

I too hear a similar tak tak sound after the cold start. Anything needs to be worried? Was this ever reoccured in your case. Mine is AX7 P AT completed 14K as of now, i am planning take the care to SC but I am worried to go to the SCs in Bengaluru as my previous experiences were not good

Hello Vinod,

Unfortunately, yes, the noise continued even after that incident. However, I have shared the solution within the thread for your reference.

The ASC was diagnosed, and a root cause analysis (RCA) identified a faulty vacuum pump, which was promptly replaced. Fortunately, the issue has not resurfaced since then.

I recommend checking the idle sound if your vehicle has been stationary for 3-5 days. If you still hear the "tak-tak" noise, I strongly suggest requesting the ASC to replace the vacuum pump. The replacement process should take just one day.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700

XUV700 AX5 Petrol AKA RUDRA Gets the First OTA Update

Mahindra Delivers Long-Awaited OTA Update for XUV700

After a two-year wait and a recent renewal of the AdrenoX subscription, Mahindra has finally introduced Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates for the XUV700. This significant development eliminates the need for customers to visit authorized service centers for software upgrades.

While the OTA feature was initially delayed, it is commendable that Mahindra has implemented it at this time. The update process, however, encountered some minor hiccups. Despite having the Auto-Download feature enabled, the software update did not initiate automatically. Manual intervention was required to trigger the download.

I urged to make the move for downloading this with the intention that it will reduce the frequent disconnection of CarPlay, that "dub-dub" speaker sounds after turning off the vehicle and sudden increase in ringtone volume when you receive a call while driving with CarPlay (well, would not it be really scary to hear your ringtone at the volume of 20 when you are hearing a Ilaiyaraja's song at the volume of 8 or 9?)

A snap of the current SW version:
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-aadd10f2ff694cb2925035ee2ef2499e.jpeg

Made a quick video on the process, hoping this would help/guide the Bhpians and fellow 700 owners in updating their Infotainment Units.

The quick guide:

What is new with the update:
1. This update flashes the new SW for the TCU (Telematics Control Unit), SoC (Qualcomm 430 or 820A), VIP (Vehicle Interface Processor)
2. New App Additions: Two apps have been added to the XUV700's infotainment system:
a. Ask Mahindra: This convenient feature allows you to connect directly with Mahindra customer support for any inquiries or assistance.
b. What3Words: A unique geocoding system that provides precise location identification using three simple words. This app was initially introduced with the Mahindra Scorpio N and is now available for XUV700 owners. Not sure on the real-time need & usability part of this app. I will explore more about this.
3. Looks like some updates given to Mappls, did not have time to explore much about it.

Side Note:
To ensure a smooth installation process, please keep the following points in mind:
  1. Running Engine: The engine should be running during the software update to maintain power supply.
  2. Fuel Level: Ensure your vehicle has sufficient fuel to avoid interruptions during the update.
  3. Time Allocation: Plan for at least an hour of downtime to allow for a complete and uninterrupted installation.

Some pics from the update progress:

Thanks Rudra, I just booked SC appointment to get this checked. Shall update the outcome later. Meanwhile can you help to add me to the XUV 700 Petrol WhatsApp group ?

Re: Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700

Its yet another day, yet another surprise!!

A week ago, on a sunny Thursday, I was all set for a family gathering. As per my usual ritual—start the car, let it idle for three minutes, and ease into the journey—I had barely gone 500 meters from my house when I realized I couldn’t slot the second gear. Not exactly the kind of surprise you want with a car full of in-laws and family members staring at you as if I was trying to rewrite the laws of driving physics. With mild embarrassment, I safely pulled over and restarted RUDRA. The gears finally slotted, but the shifting was hit or miss—sometimes smooth, sometimes notchy. Confused but hopeful, I decided to give it another shot the next day, especially since I had a 60-kilometer trip ahead.

The next day, as fate would have it, reverse gear decided to take the day off. After many attempts at coaxing it, including the classic move-forward-a-bit trick and disengaging the parking brake on a slight incline, I finally managed to get it in reverse. Of course, this wasn’t before fielding a few sarcastic sword fights from my mom and wife for my choice of vehicle. Once on the road, the gears behaved like a temperamental artist—smooth at times, but unpredictably notchy. Adding to all this, I was also noticing a 10-15% drop in Fuel Efficiency. Usually the MID used to read 12kmpl and AdrenoX giving a 11.5kmpl, now I was a bit shocked to see the readings of 10kmpl & 9kmpl respectively (even the Tank2Tank I checked has gone down).

Here is the quick byte of the whole issue

In the middle of this delightful drive, I reached out to Mr. Dileep (GM CAI), who kindly suggested checking the fluid level in the Master Cylinder.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t definitively assess if it was at the right level. He suggested sharing some pictures/videos with him. We could not conclude the fluid levels from the pictures. Mr. Dileep assured me that a technician would come by to check the fluid and see if bleeding the clutch would help.

He did speak to me in a comforting manner and reassured me that this could be solved + nothing major.
And this is how the Brake Master Cylinder looks

Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-whatsapp-image-20240925-8.11.21-am-3.jpeg

I felt there was a mild seepage in the brake master cylinder which is here
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-whatsapp-image-20240925-8.16.11-am.jpeg

Meanwhile, I posted my woes in our ever-reliable WhatsApp and Facebook groups. The responses were both comforting and concerning—turns out, I’m not alone. Some owners are simply living with the issue, while others have had to replace synchronization gears, concentric slave cylinders, or even the M-Shifter and Shifter Cable.

At this point, I was questioning my loyalty to Mahindra. Should I have chosen another car instead of blindly following the love and loyalty that I had towards the brand? Mr. Dileep tried to reassure me, saying it was likely a minor issue, but that did little to quiet the nagging doubts about reliability.

The technician arrived as promised, and tried bleeding the clutch, but that didn’t help. He confirmed that the one I posted in the picture above on the seepage is not a leak, it is grease accumulated with dirt.

During this whole process, found the battery is turning out bad!! which is yet another surprise.
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-whatsapp-image-20240925-8.11.21-am-4.jpeg

A pick-up was arranged, and I requested a standby car since I had family plans. Mahindra graciously provided a Marazzo loaner, and the next day, the CoTek and Service teams ran diagnostics. They found a leak in the Clutch Master Cylinder, which had allowed air into the system, causing poor gear engagement. The part was to be replaced under warranty, and the car was promised back on Monday. I made it clear that I did not want another surprise breakdown and urged the team to thoroughly check RUDRA. Though they did a good job, I couldn’t help but think that no amount of good service could compensate for the questionable quality levels of Mahindra. They apologized and reassured me it wouldn’t happen again, though I’d like to believe them.

The culprit that created the whole fuss
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-whatsapp-image-20240925-8.11.21-am-5.jpeg

This is where it is positioned
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-whatsapp-image-20240924-8.07.28-pm-1.jpeg

Glad that they deduced it very quickly and acted upon replacing the part duly. Of course, these are all minor things but such issues might just spoil your day and peace of mind.

At this point, I hope it’s a one-off manufacturing defect, but I can’t help feeling uneasy about taking RUDRA on long drives. After all, in my two years and 24,000 kilometers of ownership, I’ve already dealt with:
1. A micro-relay failure, leaving me stranded in traffic (right after a canister replacement, no less),
2. LCA + bush replacement,
3. Vacuum pump replacement,
4. The infamous floaty feeling issue,
5. And now, a faulty Clutch Master Cylinder.

Mahindra undoubtedly has an internationally competitive product, backed by strong engineering. My decision to choose Mahindra was driven not only by my admiration for iconic models like the Scorpio, XUV, and THAR/MM540 but also by a deep sense of pride in supporting a "Made in India" brand. However, it’s concerning to encounter quality issues with certain parts, which has been disappointing given my longstanding trust in Mahindra’s engineering and reliability.

While I remain hopeful that this is an isolated manufacturing defect, it has unfortunately cast doubt among family members, some of whom had recommended alternatives like a pre-owned Innova Crysta, a sedan (my mother's preference for years), or even German and Korean models. For someone who has been passionate about the brand Mahindra, this situation has been a personal letdown, and I sincerely urge the company to address these quality concerns to maintain the trust of loyal customers like myself.

Here’s to hoping the next family gathering will be less eventful—on the car front, at least.

On the way home with RUDRA, I took the opportunity to refuel at Shell. This time, a pricey fill-up of about 40 liters of Shell V-Power set me back 5.3k. Yup, the Shell V Power in Coimbatore costs 121.4Rs. Not sure what they use in Shell that bumps the unleaded Petrol costs by ~20-25% and this is not a RON95 either. Hope the FE numbers get back on track and bring back my smiles!!

Since it was a little tiring day, thought of having the Filter Coffee at Shell Deli-Go, and checking out the experience. Their coffee was just okay though!

I will keep this thread updated on how the FE numbers stand with Shell V Power.

Dear sir, saw your video. We duly decided to check our XUV700 AX7L P AT for this update. It's the first OTA update my car has recieved as well. I had put the setting for auto download of the update before hand. On opening the Software Update app, it's showing as in the picture.

As you can see, the Install button is not clickable. We tried restarting the car twice, and disabled the auto update setting to see if the prompt changes to 'download/install'. Nothing happened. It's still the same as in the picture. What should we do? Thank you.

Hello Imperpara, Was your car idling at that time? The installation requires car idling.

Follow the below:
1. Start the car,
2. Let it idle for few mins,
3. Settings>General>SW Update>ON/OFF,
4. Now check if the install button is activated.

If not, run it for few km, it will install when you let the car run idle next time.

Do post me your feedback

Hello sir, thank you for replying. Sir the car was idling for about five to ten minutes when we were trying to install the update.

I'll try to install the update after driving for a few kms, like you said, and shall let you know. Thank you.
