I can confirm. The engine does switch off in this scenario.

Additionally, I learned from AT owners that they can not find the FE in their AdrenoX app (thanks to Unnikrishnan, Ram, Jayesh and Vinod annas from our TN XUV700 WhatsApp group for confirming this). And neither EcoSense in the infotainment console is available for them.

The perks of MT owners is that we can see the FE in both EcoSense and the AdrenoX app.
Yes, Adrenox for L variant comes with 2 years. My bad, on mentioning it as 3.
The FE miss on both the app and ICE is definitely a sore point.
Doesn't take much to roll out a s/w update for this feature. Why leave out such features on AT variants but have unusable features for lower variants is a question, the Adrenox Designers need to rethink.

On the e-sim, is it confirmed that it doesn't work on Airtel? While my Adrenox was getting activated, the dealership gave me a choice between both VI & Airtel, although I went with the former.

That's a piece of interesting news.

Can you share the details like the Date of Purchase/Invoicing and the Dealership name?

Well! That brings the answer for the eSIM hassles. And glad that M&M is really hearing the feedback from customers and improvising it.

Mine is a Jan manufactured model (P6A) invoices in the last week of Jan. Dealership being India Garage, PC Road Bangalore.

Although, while they did give me the choice between the two, I am still in doubt, unless someone confirms that it actually works on Airtel. Would like to explore porting the number in that case.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700

RUDRA just gained a few hundred km on the ODO in the last two months

Still at 9.5k and hoping to mark the 10k milestone soon.

Got a call from Mr. Dileep (CAI Coimbatore) regarding the availability of the much-awaited Rear Sequential Indicators.

Did not want to miss this considering Mr. Dileep's advice. Hence booked an appointment for Monday.

I was informed that it will take 45mins-1hour and I decided to wait in their cool customer lounge taking the Work from ASC :-p

They actioned it pretty quickly. RUDRA was left for the tail lamp replacement at 11.30 AM. The team completed the work within the promised 45mins duration. Mr. Saranth kept me posted appropriately.

Incidentally, Mr. Dileep has secured the ECMS cover for me. Thanks to him! Took the opportunity to install the same.

Everything was done in just <1 hour and took RUDRA back with all smiles to the office and routine.

Here is how it looks finally

XUV400
Congrats to Mr. Dileep for getting another EV - XUV400 in the Galaxy Grey shade. Interestingly he owned a couple of EVs including the Mahindra's e2o before.

XUV400 looks more masculine than its ICE sibling XUV300 (thanks to the Tivoli's design - extra length it got as there are no sub4m restrictions on taxes for EVs).

Good thing is, it has a very decent leg room in Front and Rear + an ample boot space to carry more than enough. Considering its 300-330kms real-time drive range it is definitely a worthy car to drive (bw, Mahindra should have just simply updated the center console).

Personally, I am not greatly impressed with the utility of the Adrenox. Most of the features are snob value to impress my friends and one of these features are such that I cannot live without.
The voda network is non-existent out here and hence adrenox on voda is very iffy.
Rs 5k per year is not something I may spare for this feature going forward (my subscription is till Jul 2024).

Re: Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700

10,000 Kilometers with RUDRA and Counting: A Service Update on My Car Ownership Journey

Finally completed the 10K mark with my 10 months of ownership.
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-whatsapp-image-20230421-9.50.15-am.jpeg

As mentioned in my previous post, post 8-9k kms mark was experiencing a floaty feeling post 100kmph with RUDRA and reported the same to Mr. Dileep and Mr. Ronald of CAI Industries. We decided to take this up for the 10,000 kms service time.

Here is a quick summary of what's done during this service:
1. Free Service for 10,000kms mark includes : Engine Oil Change (Maximile Ultra 6L), Oil Filter Change with the O-Ring, HVAC Carbon Filter, Wheel Rotation,
2. SW Updates: the Silver Box Flashing with Data Clearance and Map Update
3. Suspension Spring Test, Alignment Check, and Retorquing were checked to address the floaty feeling faced.

Reached the ASC by 11.30AM. After a quick couple minutes of discussion with the team we decided to take RUDRA for the spin.

Assisted by Mr. Damodaran who has vast experience in handling SUVs, Mr. Ronald and myself took a spin on the highways navigating the city and a few roads with minor undulations to check if the issue persists or if it has to do more with the road. We took it to 120kmph to check the same, and we noticed the car is bumpy on the right-most lane where the road itself was laid waving laid which could be the reason for the feedback. But still, I felt some minor undulations being translated inside, Mr. Ronald and Mr. Damodaran do not want to miss out on any hence recommending an alignment and spring test check. I did learn a couple more good things during the ride with them on the Low Rolling Resistance (LRR) Tyres which were mandated as a part of BS6.2. Interesting fuel-conscious regulation this is.

Prompt actions were listed by the team to address the same. We returned around 12.30ish to CAI and the service actions started.

All the actions were completed as promised and the car was delivered around 8PM. The CAI team really took the extra mile to get it delivered on the same day.

Could see the ASC was filled with SUVs & XUVs and the bays were neatly managed.

Hey What's New

1. Overall the system itself is more fluidic now and I did notice some new apps added to the list like TicketTape
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-whatsapp-image-20230421-9.24.02-am-1.jpeg

2. The SW Version -
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-whatsapp-image-20230421-9.24.01-am.jpeg

3. EcoSense now loads instantly and is a bit more responsive for the scroll (which was not it used to be earlier)
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-whatsapp-image-20230421-9.24.02-am.jpeg

After the neat wash at CAI returned home yesterday.

I Felt RUDRA is buttery smooth with the gearshifts and was super silent. And I took the chance to fill Shell V Power as my DTE was under 80kms. Luckily I found Shell is running a 1re=2points campaign which resulted in 6000 points for the fill (later found this can be availed only once else would have filled a tank full till auto cut-off). This 6000 points equates to 300rs that actually a win-win for Shell and myself

Will keep the thread updated with my experience of using Shell V Power (probably would try for the next two months, if I find it good and useful would continue)

I have an IOCL Axis Bank Credit Card through which I fill XP95 thereby getting rewards in IOCL and axis bank credit card. I found this to be a little cost-saving effort wherein we run the cars at a higher octane+better mileage and the cashback we get is a good return too.

Well yeah, certainly in lots of love with the way it smiles

Nice to see the alloys cleaned and looks gleaming

Found some minor things, and will get them addressed in a visit in the upcoming week.

The bill was as indicated in the WTH app which is Rs. 3739/-
I am glad that the service cost is well-optimized.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700

Well, just realized I missed to update on the floaty feeling I had. The test team found this to be completely normal. As mentioned they tried in different routes of the City, Highway including a small bridge run and a small rough patch.

But to my wonder, I understand the FSD does not soak all the minor bumps, patches, bridge connectors, and waviness in the roads, unlike the comfy Sedans. I decided to keep running further to see if there was any improvement.

As any day, I have assurance from the CAI team to take it up for a checkup on this if anything I see anything more unusual including tire wear or a loss of control.

For the MX, AX3/5 Owners, Silverbox flashing took away the Reverse Camera SW patch for AX5. I am planning to give a visit to ASC in the coming to sort this and a few minor niggles out.

Is there a way to confirm which eSIM is installed in our car?

Unfortunately big NO.

Wish TRAI intervenes in such eSIMs carried over by vehicles.

As V2X (V2V and V2I specifically) will be the future it is worth getting regularized from the early stages of this technology introduction in India rather than creating a mess and regularizing it later.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700

Been two months, no big tripping as expected this two months, just usual city drives.

ODO stands smiling at 11k now.

Last ~850kms was done gulping the Shell V-Power. As like everybody praised, could not find a major difference in the power or the mileage. In fact, I am still getting between 11.3-11.5kmpl with Shell V-Power too.

I never reset the MID unless it auto-resets coz of a bug or an SW flash, and I see a ~5% difference with the real numbers. Interestingly, AdrenoX shows the almost exact Tank2Tank numbers.

My observations with the different pumps I tried for quite a while are below and please do note the below figures are all Tank2Tank figures:

1. IOCL's XP95:

Almost 50% of the fuel that RUDRA drank belongs to IOCL - XP95. The point to note is XP95 is 109.4 comparing the normal petrol 103.2 at Coimbatore.

Engine Responsiveness & Smoothness:
The engine was very smooth and responsive. Could feel the engine a bit (when I say a bit, it is A TINYYY BIT) torquey until 3-4k rpm.

FE:
Tank to Tank was always between 11.5 and 11.8kmpl in the city drives. The highway maxed out at 13.5kmpl. T Using AXIS Bank Petrol Card for about ~4 months and by rewards + IOCL Xtra Rewards recovering the additional cost invested for per liter of the petrol. I used to fill the petrol in the same bunk since the delivery which is the very famous Shanthi Social Services Bunk at Coimbatore.

2. BPCL:

RUDRA's 30% of its 12k ride was with BPCL - Unleaded Normal Petrol which costs 103.2Rs.

Engine Responsiveness & Smoothness:
The engine was not as eager nor smooth as it was with XP95.
Considering the price and the FE, BPCL suits widely.

FE:
What makes me wonder was, FE stood almost the same as IOCL's XP95. FE hovers bw 11.5 and 12kmpl inside City and 12.5-13.3kmpl on highways.

3. IOCL: Unleaded Normal -

Costs around 103.2Rs.

Engine Responsiveness & Smoothness:
The engine responsiveness & smoothness was the same as BPCL Unleaded.

FE:
Could easily easily see a drop of 1-1.5kmpl in FE. Maxes out 10.5-11kmpl in City and 12kmpl in Highway.

4. Shell V-Power:

Just two tank fills. Costs ~118Rs.

Engine Responsiveness & Smoothness:
The engine was very smooth and responsive but I did not find any magical FE numbers like how users report about Shell V-Power.

FE:
FE numbers stood around 12 & 12.3kmpl for the 80% City and 20% highway ride.

THE VERDICT

Summing it up,
Engine smoothness & responsiveness - XP95>BPCL (Unleaded)=Shell VPower>IOCL (Unleaded)

Who scores in FE department
IOCL's XP95=BPCL (Unleaded)>Shell V-Power>IOCL (Unleaded).

Overall, I am seeing good smoothness & FE with XP95. Over the Axis Bank IOCL Rewards (2,000 cashback), IOCL also offers the XtraRewards program which is another small savings to note.

Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-petro_comparo.jpg

Regarding the bumpy ride, one of our XUV700 TN Community Member and our brother Vinod (who has munched 50k kms in a single year with his AX7L AT D) recommended wheel rotation at 10k and keeping a bit lesser air pressure considering the harder compound property of MRF Wanderer. Based on his suggestions and a few trial and errors, a 30psi driving a car to the pump which is 5kms away from my home at 39deg hot summer seems to be fixing the bumpy ride issue to an extent. Glad and happy that this has worked out making our rides more breeeezzyy now.

With that, took a small video with joy after a short 100km ride

After a quick wash happened to notice a minor niggle. I am discussing this with ASC now, the tail lamp plastic is not snapping rightly resulting in water droplets entering the tail lamp. Somehow snapped it to keep it and sealed the lamp for now. But when the boot is closed a couple of times, it is getting unsnapped.

The clips and snaps are all intact, I sense this has something to do with the shape of the plastic as it looks a bit different. Managed to snap it now to keep the tail lamp intact and away from dust and water from entering it. But a heavy shut of boot would again unsnap it.

Discussed this with Mr. Ronald, and he assured me that this will be taken care. Will check it when I am around CAI or Peelamedu next time and would probably get it fixed before the monsoon hits hardly.

Few clips here

More breezy rides are to come in the month of June and RUDRA is all set to celebrate his first year anniversary, fortunately, it is our first year anniversary too.

Will keep the thread updated when a decent miles are munched up!!

Re: Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700

Here I am with a bit more interesting data on the Windshields of XUV700.

I am surprised that M&M has opted for two quality grades of Windshields, as expected AX7 and AX7L get a special grading of "Acoustic" certified Windshields.

Thanks to the Whatsapp community mate Varun, Ella Pughazhum (I really forgot his name now, sorry bruh) and Jayesh for the quick clicks.

Below details refers to the windshields of AX7 and AX7L
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-ax7-xuv2.jpg

Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-ax7-xuv.jfif.jpg

Here are the part numbers for the same:
AX7/7L 0111AW600460N and this costs ~7.5k

Below details refers to the windshields for MX/AX3 and AX5:
For the models: MX, AX3 and AX5 are are 0111AW600110N and this costs ~6.6k

Below is the windshield grading
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-ax5-xuv.jfif.jpg

Good for the ones who opted for AX7 and above. For those who are replacing glass at ASC and outside beware of this.

What I am more curious about is M&M has gone over all the places and cut down the cost to improve their margins where ever they feel and this is giving me a feeling that AX5 is stripped down very badly.

I will keep the thread updated with the driving experience and the findings if any.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700

Among some busy intracity commutes for various marriages and functions, took RUDRA on a small spin of 210kms trip to Kodiveri Falls near Sathyamangalam (originally this was supposed to be a trip to Chavakkad planned for our wedding anniversary, and now the trip has been changed to a later date as almighty was very tired coz of her work).

And a nice memory collage with pics of RUDRA's taken at various occasions, posting this for his First Year Anniversary

Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-whatsapp-image-20230615-12.37.14-pm-3.jpeg

RUDRA-CBE-KODIVERI
It was super calm, composed, and a breezy 210kms up and down (including a 30kms intracity commute that day). This for the beast is a cakewalk. I could feel that bounciness is arrested to a good extent though there were minor jitters here and there. Since the drive is mostly on the CBE-SALEM highway, was driving constantly between 90-120kmph and RUDRA took it all without a sweat. I think that wheel rotation definitely has aided in the improvement in ride quality combined with 30psi at cold conditions now.

Here are some small clicks

Kodiveri welcomes the visitors with a neat and clean look. The entrance fee of Kodiveri falls is just 5rs and parking charges of 40rs

The trip ended putting more smiles on our faces and the reason is as follows. Took this opportunity to test the FE with the T2T method, and was super impressed with a 12.9kmpl (still my face went uffff knowing I could have extended it cutting off some fun, but RUDRA's enthusiastic engine would never allow me to cut any sort of fun though).

And was just going through how M&M has spread features across variants in other countries and found a couple of interesting things.

1. Mahindra launched XUV700 in New Zealand a few months back. The surprising thing is, the variant AX5 launched there comes with Cruise Control.
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-xuv700-new-zealand.jpg

2. Mahindra launched the XUV700 in Australia yesterday. They are going with all Petrol only powertrain options there that too only with AT.
Found the exact same AX7 variant listed with
a. An additional feature of Post-Collision Braking
b. A higher ground clearance of 229mm compared to the 200mm for the India-bound variant.
Mahindra XUV700 (aka Rudra) Initial Ownership Report | Journey from an Eon to the XUV700-xuv700-australia.jpg

Wish some of our auto journalists (like Siddarth Vinayak Pattekar, Cyrus/Rohan - Powerdrift, Autocar India, Parth from Motorbeam) cover those variants. Curious to know what's done to improve the GC in Australia or it is a way of GC calculation specific to the country that translates to a higher GC than India.

How are you getting such good FE with the Petrol Engine?? I have AX7L P AT and I get between 6-8 in city depending on the traffic condition and how hard I push it. And 11-12.5 in the high ways. I see others (in other XUV700 threads) get similar FE as mine with the Petrol engine. What is your secret?

Thanks, Mr. Amhale. Not a secret, it's just that mine is an MT and my city does not have that congested traffic like Bangalore/Mumbai/NCRs Hope you have fixed the canister issue and the micro relay, if not I strongly recommend you to do so.

I noticed that AT is slightly high revving in XUV to extend the life of the gearbox, especially for the Petrol powertrain. With congested traffic conditions (like Bangalore/Mumbai) it is bound to give only single digits and I expect your FE numbers to improve to a decent 8-10kmpl in City for you. (well actually it is still not a decent number to quote, but for 2L heart & two-ton beast it is not bad neither).

Even Diesel under those conditions would offer just above 10-11kmpl.

What we Petrol heads really miss is that we don't get drive modes hence there is no power/torque limitation that improves FE numbers. With Diesel Drive Modes, Zip is capped at 153bhp, Zap is 183bhp + lower state of torque output and Zoom is 183bhp+420N-m. Zap is very much ideal for city duties.

See if following the below procedure works for you.
Whenever you do an SW update or you believe your car is not giving the right FE, follow the below one (may or may not work, subjected to terms & condt ).
a. Start the car as per the idle procedure given below and take it for a spin. After at least a 20km ride to do this is preferable though. And probably do it before you do a highway run as well.
b. Idle the car for 30-90secs. Turn off the car.
c. Remove the negative terminal of the battery.
d. Press the brake pedal or use the horn to discharge if there is any juice left in the system.
e. Let it be for 5-10mins. Reconnect the battery. Then keep driving as usual or plan a ride in the same week.

Do post me back after doing this and driving atleast 500-1,000kms.

As a ritual, I follow the cold start procedure. And I have penned down a few things I am following (and most of them are plain and pretty generic):

1. Idle Start Procedure: When you take the car, turn the key, let the SW settles for 15secs, then start the car and idle it for 90secs until rpm drops to/under 900rpm. Till then do not turn on the AC or blower, rather open the sunroof + roll down the windows so that the warm air can go out (not to be tried under rainy circumstances)

2. AC Output:
a. Clean the HVAC filter once in 5k kms
b. Best way to keep the car cool The below is for only MX/AX3/AX5 as we folks do not have FATC
c. Then turn on only the blower, keep in max speed, keep the vent position as face and foot....and use this until you get out of a parking area.
d. Close the sunroof, and turn on your AC with min. temp. + max. blower speed and drive it for about a 5min span, then reduce the blower speed to 3 and keep a desired AC temperature based on no. of occupants.

3. For AT riders:

It is all about with what courtesy we bash the A pedal. Just don't floor it suddenly.

For AT Diesel riders, I do not think anything magic trick is needed for them, they will easily get 14-16kmpl on highways at ease. And the good news for them is, they can check their daily trip FE numbers on the EcoSense page and it is very reliable (Go to Fun With XUV, Choose Zap Mode, Swipe Up then select EcoSense). And M&M for some poor logic skipped this for Petrol ATs.

M&M if you are listening please fix them by adding EcoSense.

P.S: Also please don't plan to delete this feature, spare this at least for the poor MX/AX3/5's like me.

4. For MT riders:
Inside the city do not engage the higher gears with lower speeds. As because, when you pull it from lower speed in higher gear it will gulp more petrol than in the lower gear. This is just because when you move it from 1.2k rpm to 1.7k turbo spools up and burns more fuel. Just maintain the ride between 1.3-1.8k rpm at any gear inside the city. This will also help you avoid frequent gear shifts and half-clutching.

You can observe the same in the FE graph phenomena in the MID). By this, you can avoid frequent gear shifts. Engage higher gears (3rd/4th), only if you see/sense a plain road ahead for at least about 500m-1km.

I was very mindful of seeing the MID FE graph that comes below our FE indicator. This is a very useful indicator to keep up your FE. Nowadays, I am not seeing it as my driving style has now got adapted to keep a balance bw FE and Power (I now keep the Power & Torque graph)

5. Petrol Brand Suggestion:
Preferably fill petrol in the mornings.

Don't waste your money on Shell V-Power. Continue to fill in from the same pump (preferably COCO pumps in your area). Try to continue to fill from IOCL or BPCL (from my experience so far, RUDRA returns good FE numbers when filled there). If you want to run a little peppier and cleaner, use XP95 or Speed93.

Post me if the above works. Fellow riders correct me if I was wrong somewhere.
