Re: Mahindra XUV7OO AX7 Petrol comes home | Ownership Review

I have booked same variant of AX7 Petrol on 24th December 2021 and am yet to hear from dealership. The website shows delivery date of August 2023. It may be possible midnight blue color is in overbooked leading to delays.

yeah there would be a bit of extra sound but isn't that little diesel clatter is a music for us diesel-heads ?
I would like to ask you whether you prefer Shell for fuelling your car, if yes do you use Normal or V-Power? I mostly prefer Shell's regular diesel and in case Shell is unavailable I prefer Reliance.
Thank you!
After you listen to silent music of Petrol, diesel clatter feels like cacophony!
I have tried Shell / V-power but didn't find much of a difference. Sticking to COCO pumps right now.

I am not satisfied with, can't put my finger on it, but the sound quality is just not upto the mark
Thank you!
I am no audiophile but yes, XUV music system is bettwer than average. Harman music system on Safari is better with those JBLs.

When I took the test drive, the features I liked about are it's acceleration, blind spot cameras. However, didn't quite like the seating esp the rear ones.

How was the comfort of seats ?
Thank you!
We find seats very comfortable. Tallest person in my family is 5'9". Average to small built.
I think it lacks a bit of underthigh support.

IMHO the excessive labeling on these vehicles needs to go. There is no need to put “Adrenox” badges on the outside, and the multi colored AX7 L looks a bit off putting.
Thank you! Totally agree with you on this.

80kmph waning is feeble, just one time chime. 120kmph warning is continuously displyayed on screen with voice alert. Haven't tried recorded voice alert yet.

Mahindra with you Hamesha app gives below service costs. 3 serices are free which includes 1000 kms inspection service. Service interval is 10k kms/ 1 year. Engine oil change interval is 20k kms.

Re: Mahindra XUV7OO AX7 Petrol comes home | Ownership Review

I have done ceramic coating from Aquatint. Will upload pics later. Nikhil offered me good package, removed the paint stains as well. All door edges ppf done.
I want to install sidesteps and rear bumper guard. Looking at aftermarket options.
Also noticed, inbuilt navigation is pretty good, shows which road to take incase there is flyover, signs, boards.

Thank you! So far I have covered some 1300kms, FE hasn't dropped below 10kmpl. It involved all kinds of roads including bumper to bumper traffic, slopes, highways. This is ICE figure.

Yesterday I had to drive over nonexistent roads, full of gravel, stones, slopes. Happy to report XUV drove well without losing grip. High GC and engine protection cover inspires lot of confidence.
By no means I am claiming its accomplished 4x4
But it really tackled broken roads very well. I was engaging downhill assist, it worked as expected

One strange thing happened. From Adrenox threw fuel change alert. That confused me, neither I visited fuel station nor I changed any fuel.

Re: Mahindra XUV7OO AX7 Petrol comes home | Ownership Review

Today visited a project nearby Pune. Beautiful property, has bungalow plots on sale. Found it very expensive for what it offers. Got to stretch the XUV's legs on the Satara highway. It was thrilling to push the pedal and experience its acceleration, high speed stability and refinement.

On wet, pothole ridden roads, grip offered by stock MRFs was great. Cruise control is a boon on highways. Experiencing how ADAS keeps car in the lane without driver intervention when cruise control is engaged was fun.

Attaching few pics that I clicked.

Re: Mahindra XUV7OO AX7 Petrol comes home | Ownership Review

6000kms clocked

So far the journey has been blissful! Enjoying every bit of it.
Have done multiple trips on the highways which involved ghats. Some journeys were on broken or non existent roads. I am very much satisfied with my purchase.

The good part
  • The mighty engine which is never out of breath. Mated with competent TC gearbox. In most of the situations it slots right gears. Barring occasions when it's on downhill slope, where it sticks to lower gear shooting engine rpms. I generally slot it in manual mode and choose higher gear to let the car coast comfortably.
  • Suspension is a bit on the softer side which is good. Irons out most of the undulations. However, if you get more ambitious thinking it's BOF, it scratches it's belly when you take really bad digs or undulations at higher speeds. Underbody protection plate is a real boon here.
  • Space for all passengers is excellent. Adults up to 5'4" sitting in thrid row can travel comfortably on longer journeys
  • On highways, it consistently returns 12+kmpl irrespective of load and speed. If I go easy with my right foot, it returns 14+kmpl. I am hoping this will improve further after 10000kms servicing is done.
  • Headlamps are excellent. Throw and illumination is good. I feel confident enough to drive at night.
  • AC chills in no time in all the rows.
  • Love the fact, how light and effortless steering is which makes maneavouring easy. Now I find my Figo's HPS faulty
  • ADAS, Auto lights, auto wipers work as expected.

The not so good part
  • Paint quality is not up to the mark. I have done ceramic coating. It lacks luster even after detailing
  • I would have liked more brake bite reducing stopping distance
  • I wish it had more luggage space with three rows up
  • No auto dimming IRVM, full size spare, 12v socket at the front, telescopic steering column
  • I would have loved to have sports mode which would make engine responses sharper and suspension firmer
  • Mahindra should make available retrofitting of luxury variant features like 360 camera, motorised handles, inbuilt dashcam, EPB etc.
  • Sunroof opens only upto 50% of it's length
  • Alexa doesn't work most of the times, plagued by erratic Vi network and related software integration issues
  • You can switch off the engine only when gear lever is in the Park mode

Thoughtful features
  • Hazards switch on automatically on opening the bonnet
  • MID shows front wheel direction which is very helpful
  • Tapping indicator stalk blinks indicators thrice
  • Driver side sunblinds can be extended in length when pulled out sideways
  • Personalized voice message on overspending is really thoughtful
  • When I was filling in air using tyre inflator connected to 12v port in the thrid row, hazards switched on automatically
  • Cooling vent in the armrest works great in chilling your beverage and can be switched off completely
  • Unlike Ford, 12v and USB ports are powered off on engine shut off
  • Inbuilt navigation is good enough, can be relied upon

I have purchased below tyre inflator. It is very handy, comes with excellent packaging. It comes with it's own light, which can flash as strobe light too.
https://www.amazon.in/dp/B0B4P4RQRP?...p_mob_ap_share

Works just fine. It needs to be powered by 12v socket in the third row. With the given chord length, filling in passenger side front wheel is tricky. Air valve needs to be at the nearest position for this wheel. For rest, it works just fine. TPMS always shows 1psi less than what you see on inflator display.

Apart from Alexa niggles, no issues, no rattles
No infamous suspension noise or football in the trunk noise. Touchwood.

Stock MRFs are good enough for most of the road conditions. Happy to answer queries if any!

Have you managed to scrape the underbody of XUV700 on any Pune speed breakers? I thought being an SUV, it would be spared of scraping its belly.

What is the City mileage you are getting in a typical everyday office going traffic?

Re: Mahindra XUV7OO AX7 Petrol comes home | Ownership Review

i do have to agree on the brakes needing better bite. I own the AX5 petrol AT and ive covered 2500kms in one month itself ( the car is only one month old) and the initial brake pedal feel is like a sponge, only when you press further it starts to bite properly, but i just wish it was more progressive. It suddenly bites strongly and you get that sudden scare. Also i have a weird niggle, both the brake pedal and accelerator pedal wiggle left and right a little bit, more so with the brake pedal. Not sure if its meant to be that way or the pedals are little loose. Would like to hear from your end.

No, on normal as well as abnormal speedbreakers in Pune, it never scraped. I am referring to one off incident when I drove on a non-existent road in a remote village. Dug deep on both sides, unknowigly I drove through at higher speed and suspension was caught off guard, kissing tarmac for a moment when, it recovered quickly as I slowed down.
My gut feeling says a BOF like Scorpio wouldn't have scraped in this situation.

City mileage hovers between 7-9 kmpl. I don't drive much in city. My observation is if you run errands i.e. short drives, frequent engine on offs it affects mileage negatively.

I've just started reading your review, and it's a long thread, so I couldn't wait to respond to this question. I can think of only one reason: it's just plain fun! Having the seat go back is the welcome gesture. If it only came forward once you sat on it, it would at best only be half as cool.
