Re: Citroën C5 Aircross | The car that blew me away

In city stop and go, mileage varies between 9kmpl to 15kmpl. My lower mileage can be attributed to car running AC during standstill also in this summer heat when my kids and my pet come with me. I normally keep the engine start-stop function disabled during my drives.
During my last 1k drive from Coorg to Mumbai, the overall mid display showed 17.8kmpl which included drive in ghats. During the 2nd leg of the journey which was primarily plains, mid showed 20.4kmpl. A tankful to tankful method showed 14kmpl for the first leg (500kms, includes ghat section). Overall, mileage has been good considering the 2L engine and great pick-up.

The total journey

2nd leg of the journey post a refuel

Just curious, how does disabling this feature help exactly?

Sorry, I think I confused you. I keep the start-stop feature disabled so that the engine keeps running all the time (and helps keeps the AC running). This does not help efficiency in any way (rather mileage goes down). Further, somewhere in this forum I had read that frequent start-stops are bad for the turbo and the starter motor, so I keep that function disabled.

Thanks @streetfighter. Have you noticed any tangible improvement in the AC cooling performance if you keep the start stop function off ?

With start-stop function activated, the car shuts down the engine when not moving. If you are parked and have not switched off the engine via the switch, the car keeps switching on and off when it senses that the inside temperature is rising, and shuts down the engine after some time.
Obviously, the AC cools better when the engine keeps running continuously.
